Abstract

Hypertension fluctuates significantly every year, especially in Jembrana Regency. Long-term consumption of the drug may result in complications. This study aims to analyze the efficacy of foot soak hydrotherapy in lowering the blood pressure of hypertension sufferers in Dauhwaru Village, Jembrana. Experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest design without any control group. In 37 respondents with hypertension, the treatment consisted of 20 minutes of hydrotherapy in which the feet were immersed in 25-centimeter-deep water. The data was analyzed using a Paired T-Test and descriptive tests. The results showed that respondents aged 31–40 years (51.4%), male (54.1%), independent entrepreneurial work (40.5%), senior high school graduate education (35.1%), a daily work duration of > 12 hours/day, and respondents who had used anti-hypertensive medications for 6–8 years (37.8%) dominated the age characteristics. Hence, the results obtained from the T-test obtained a probability value (2-tailed) of 0,000 < 0.01. Hence, there is a very noticeable difference in blood pressure before and after being given foot-soak hydrotherapeutic treatment in hypertension patients in Dauhwaru Village, with a lowering in systolic blood pressure of 124.3 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 0.62.2 mmHg. Therefore, hydrotherapy soak feet is effective in lowering blood pressure.

Abstract

The increase in fishing activities of fishers in the Lebak Regency is facilitated by the Binuangeun Fish Landing Base (PPI). Every year, there is a growth in fish production at PPI Binuangeun. Production from 2015 to 2019 increased by 671 tons (13.55%). This study aims at formulating and determining strategies for improving the PPI Binuangeun class category. A survey approach was used in this study. Samples were taken by purposive sampling. The improvement in PPI class were categorized using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) scoring method. Results showed that the score was 254 with a success value of 251-300, indicating high potential and standards fulfillment. Thus, PPI Binuangeun can be transferred and upgraded to PPP (Coastal Fishery Port). The results of the AHP suggested that the central priority values for the development of PPI Binuangeun include: supply, auction, landing and marketing activities with the priority value of 0.585. Subsequently, another strategy is expanding the port area with score of 0.409. The support of relevant stakeholders for the development of the fishing port is needed to realize the aspirations of the central and local governments. Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in Bali have increased in the past decade. Control and eradication efforts must be optimized. In order to create dengue-free zones, accurate information and a comprehensive strategy for accelerating dengue vector management are required. This paper is based on empirical, field, and epidemiological studies and program evaluations guided by the health belief model approach. In this regard, Bali's lesson on dengue cases fluctuated from 2018 to 2020. The incidence and death rates are increasing, especially during the COVID-19. Many factors affect the disease agent, the host, and the environment. The SIGAP strategy is a policy brief that is studied and implemented to accelerate dengue vector control in Bali, which includes: awareness of the importance of 4M-Plus (draining, closing, reusing used goods, and monitoring) and mosquito nest control; integration of dengue information services; using natural insecticides and larvicides; observing and reporting the presence of vectors to the larva monitoring officer; and regular monitoring weekly. Implementing the SIGAP strategy can reduce dengue vectors and speed up the process of getting rid of dengue disease in Bali.

Abstract

Nipah (Nypa fruticans) is a type of palm that is widely used by the community. The local people of Jambi use Nipah leaves as a tobacco membrane for cigarettes. However, we found reports of cigarette use cases having implications for the severity of spontaneous pneumothorax disease. A 57-year-old man came to the emergency room suffering from shortness of breath, right-side chest discomfort, yellowish-green sputum cough, abdominal pain, nausea, weakness, decreased appetite, and inability to sleep. For two years, this man consumed ten Nipah membrane cigarettes he made independently daily, resulting in lung disease. The lungs were found to be asymmetrical with the weakened fremitus of the right lung stem; percussion revealed hyper resonance in the right lung and resonance in the left lung; auscultation revealed the presence of a decrease in vesicular breathing sounds in the right lung, and other breathing sounds crackling in both lungs. The patient's severe partially compensatory respiratory acidosis indicated levels of pH, pO2, pCO2, HCO3, total CO2, and BE. Sinus tachycardia, normoaxis and suitable atrial hypertrophy were found. The luscen region is visible, and the white line of the pleura on the right hemithorax shows the pneumothorax of the right lung. This case is relatively rare, and excess Nipah leaf membrane cigarettes increase the severity of spontaneous pneumothorax disease that causes COPD.

Abstract

Malaria is a prevalent disease that continues to affect infants and results in the death of over 435,000 individuals worldwide, with children under the age of five accounting for 11-30% of these fatalities. Malnutrition afflicts millions of children worldwide, especially in Indonesia, and is the leading cause of mortality among toddlers. Investigate the correlation between malnutrition and the occurrence of malaria in children under the age of five. Additionally, explore the prevalence, factors that contribute to the risk, and underlying processes of both malaria and malnutrition.  This study utilized 15 internationally recognized scholarly articles to investigate the correlation between malnutrition and the prevalence of malaria in children below the age of five. According to the analysis of 10 scholarly studies, the occurrence of malaria and malnutrition among children under the age of five remains significantly elevated, particularly in African nations, various countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Central America, and South America. The analysis of 3 journal papers examined the risk factors associated with malaria and malnutrition, specifically focusing on age, environment, sanitation, economy, education, food availability, and residing in refugee camps. After reviewing 9 journal publications, it has been shown that malnutrition is a risk factor for malaria. Additionally, one of the articles suggests that children who are malnourished have a reduced likelihood of contracting malaria. The findings of this scoping review indicate a bidirectional correlation between malnutrition and the occurrence of malaria in young children.
