Abstract

This research study examines the impact of the post-truth era—where emotional responses, personal beliefs, and subjective interpretations are more influential than objective facts—on Generation Z's news consumption patterns, particularly in the context of social media. The objective of this study is to examine and assess Generation Z's news consumption patterns in the context of the social media platform Instagram. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, observational studies, and a comprehensive review of relevant literature. The purposive selection of respondents included individuals from Generation Z who actively use Instagram, with a minimum age of 17.The study's findings suggest that Generation Z's news consumption habits are influenced by the prevalence of easily accessible social media platforms, as well as trends and influencers in this space. While respondents demonstrated an understanding of the potential risks associated with fake news, they frequently encountered challenges in verifying the reliability of the content they encountered. This underscores the necessity for strategies aimed at promoting news literacy. The study found that trust in news sources was influenced by the reputation of the media outlet, the visual appeal of the content, and the opinions of their social networks. The study's findings underscore the pervasive influence of prevailing trends, prominent influencers, and the ease of access to information, particularly through social media platforms, on Generation Z's news consumption patterns. While respondents acknowledged the dangers associated with fake news, their inclination to verify information remains a significant challenge.

Abstract

In the contemporary era of globalization, public participation has emerged as a pivotal element in the management of environmental issues.  The city of Bandung, in particular, is confronted with a myriad of environmental challenges that necessitate the active involvement of the public. This research endeavors to explore the extent of public participation and its influencing factors in the context of environmental issues in Bandung.  Specifically, the objective is threefold: first, to identify forms of public participation; second, to understand the role of stakeholders; and third, to evaluate the effectiveness of communication channels.  The study also aims to provide recommendations to improve public involvement in environmental management. The research method is a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, involving various stakeholders, including NGOs, environmental experts, and the general public. The results show that public participation in Bandung is still limited and often formalistic.  Despite the existence of diverse communication channels, the level of public awareness and engagement in environmental issues remains inadequate. Stakeholders, comprising government entities and NGOs, play a pivotal role in fostering enhanced participation. This study posits that to augment public participation in the management of environmental issues in Bandung City, a more inclusive and strategic approach is imperative. Recommendations are put forth to refine communication channels and cultivate public awareness, thereby facilitating active contribution to environmental decision-making.

Abstract

This research discusses the legal protection of protected animals under the Law on Conservation of Living Natural Resources and Ecosystems in Indonesia. The existence of protected animals is increasingly threatened, so an understanding of the applicable law is important to prevent violations. The objectives of this study are to (1) determine the legal protection of protected animals, and (2) evaluate the legal consequences of Decision Number 809/PID.SUS/2024/PN DPS on the protection of protected animals. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory approach, case approach, and conceptual approach. Data collection was conducted through a literature study that involved reading, reviewing, and recording relevant legal sources. The results showed that the legislative framework in Indonesia for the protection of protected animals is regulated in Law No. 5 of 1990, which has been amended into Law No. 32 of 2024. Decision number 809/PID.SUS/2024/PN DPS shows that there are positive and negative impacts on animal protection, where although there are considerations of justice, there is potential for future law violations. This research concludes that the legal protection of protected animals in Indonesia requires strengthening in law enforcement and increasing public awareness. Recommendations are proposed to increase socialization on the types of protected animals and the sanctions that apply to violations.

Abstract

This research focuses on the challenges faced by women in Afghanistan with regard to economic empowerment, particularly in the agricultural sector. This sector is critical to the country's economy, but women remain marginalized despite contributing significantly. Various barriers, including limited access to resources and cultural norms, hinder their participation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the barriers women face in the agricultural sector in Afghanistan and propose practical solutions to enhance their economic empowerment. The methods used in this study included a mixed approach, with structured surveys to collect quantitative data and semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions to gain qualitative insights. Data from different regions in Afghanistan were analyzed to identify important patterns affecting women's participation. The results showed that cultural, economic, educational and political barriers strongly influence women's empowerment. Most respondents reported difficulties in accessing financial resources and agricultural training. However, there are opportunities through non-governmental organization support and sustainable agricultural practices that can improve women's economic status. This research emphasizes the importance of overcoming these barriers to increase women's participation in agriculture. By providing education, access to resources, and legal support, women can be economically empowered, which in turn will contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector and sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Abstract

Regulation of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2015 concerning the treatment of detainees is the basis for the implementation of the duties of police officers of the Bali Police Detention and Evidence Directorate. This study aims to identify and analyze the fulfillment of detainees' rights at the Bali Police Detention Center, as well as to find out the factors that become obstacles in the implementation of the protection of these rights. This type of research uses a normative legal approach supported by empirical with data collection techniques through literature studies, interviews, and observations. The analysis is carried out descriptively and prescriptively to provide a clear picture of the conditions for the fulfillment of detainees' rights. The results showed that the implementation of the fulfillment of detainees' rights in accordance with National Police Chief Regulation Number 4 of 2015 still faces various obstacles. Bali Police detention centers can only implement the provisions stipulated in Article 10, while the provisions in Article 7 governing the placement of detainees are still not optimally implemented. The main obstacle in the implementation of the fulfillment of detainees' rights is caused by the large number of detainees held and limited facilities. Improvement efforts that have been made include the application for the construction of a new building and the loan of special placement cell space. In conclusion, to improve the fulfillment of detainees' rights at the Bali Police Detention Center, there needs to be more attention from the police and adequate policy support, so that all provisions in the National Police Chief Regulation can be implemented optimally and the rights of detainees can be fulfilled properly.
