Clean water is a primary need for everyone. The need for clean water will increase over time as well as the increase in population, this makes it necessary to carry out an assessment related to water demand in the future up to 10 years in the future. Therefore, considering the raw water source whose availability cannot be predicted so that it can be calculated the need for clean water for the District of Balikpapan Tengah and Balikpapan City, the water demand value is obtained, namely the debit in the District of Central Balikpapan is 352 liters/second and the District of Balikpapan Kota is 295 liters. /second. After that, an analysis of the drinking water distribution routing network was carried out using the Hardy-Cross method and the use of EPANET 2.0 software. Then calculations are carried out by entering data in the form of needs data such as maps of the main pipeline network, 24-hour flow patterns, and data related to contours or elevation. In terms of speed and accuracy of analysis using EPANET 2.0 software for drinking water supply systems is considered more fulfilling.

The review included 31 studies of which 14 were before-after analysis, 13 used cross-section analysis, seven case-control, a cohort analysis and a review. Some studies used more than one type of study design for analysis. Twenty seven studies were conducted in the USA, one in South Korea, France and Australia each and no studies from low or middle income countries. The evidence from these studies indicate mixed results for influence of shoulder as an intervention on crash outcome. Most studies indicate that increase in shoulder width up to 8 feet leads to reduction in crash outcomes whereas shoulder width exceeding 8ft leads to increase in crashes or no crash reduction is observed. Narrow shoulders show higher crash rates as compared to wider shoulders. Studies also report that upgradation of unpaved shoulders to stabilized or composite shoulder type also reduces crash outcomes. The results of this review suggest that shoulder implementation, increasing shoulder width up to 8ft and upgrading shoulder type may prove to be a promising countermeasure for reducing all types of road traffic crashes. However, the evidence of effectiveness of these countermeasuresmay not be replicable in other parts of the world, hence, further evaluations are needed.

The algorithm discovered by Al Khawarizmi is a result of thinking that makes something that was impossible in modern science, possible today. In the book “The Advent of the Algorithm: The Idea that Rules the World” by David Berlinski, it is stated that there are two extraordinary ideas, calculus and algorithm. An algorithm is a systematic logical steps to solve a problem, which is composed and designed logically and systematically. The key element in an algorithm is its logical consistency. This is because an algorithm must be logical and its truth value (true or false) can be determined. An algorithm can also be defined as sequential steps in performing certain tasks. The advancement of modern computer technology today cannot be denied thanks to the contribution of algorithms. A computer programmer will undoubtedly always use algorithms in creating and developing their programs. Algorithms play a very important role in the development of computer technology, especially computer programs.

Compost is one of the potential microbial habitats for the discovery of a wide range of novel biocatalysts. Compost sample originally made of plant litter, were collected at the Expo Park (Osaka, Japan). The temperature of composts is around 50 °C. Metagenomic DNA was isolated from compost and was used to amplify partial 16S rRNA genes (rDNAs) by polymerase chain reaction for investigation of the microbial diversity in the compost. Molecular microbial identification was carried out by metagenome analysis of 16S rRNA using MinION Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). The results indicated that branch-leaf compost sample from Expo Park is dominated by thermophilic microorganism. The majority of bacteria are Caldicoprobacter, Hungateiclostridium, and Thermoclostridium. To conclude, thermophilic microorganism is not only found in extreme environment, they also presence even in moderate temperature.

The development of built-up land over the last 15 years in Ambon City has affected changes in land cover in the Wae Batugantung watershed. This is due to increasing population growth, and the increasing need for residential land. Changes in land cover in the Wae Batu Gantung watershed have an impact on land degradation, water pollution, flooding, and erosion, which will increase in the future. This study aims to analyze land cover changes in the Wae Batu Gantung watershed in 2012, 2017, 2022, and predict land cover in 2027, and 2031. The Cellular Automata Markov Chain method was used in this study to predict the spatial dynamics of land cover change. The results of the study show that from 2012, 2017, 2022, and predictions for 2027, and 2031 residential land, and open land in the Wae Batutangan watershed continue to expand, in contrast to non-agricultural land cover, and agricultural land which is decreasing. The results of this study are expected to be input into policy making related to spatial utilization in the Wae Batugantung Watershed in the future.
