Abstract

What can Christian Theology contribute for Indonesian citizen? That is the leading question for this elaboration and theological reflection on the patterns of relationship among Indonesian people. Living in the context of various cultures, religions, various types of land-islands-archipelago, people take into account two categories to relate one another, namely kinship and friendship. Kin relationship (=bersaudara, having blood relation, coming from the same ancestors, the same genealogy) dominates the way to relate one another. Although the categorization of kin is limited only to those from the same genealogy, this type of category is applied to those outside the genealogy, such as in the expression, ‘we are family’, kita semua bersaudara. This ideal of relationship among the citizens is promoted to bridge the various differences (=bhinneka), though all realize that the unity (=ika) is always in danger and fragile. Another recognized categorization of relationship among the people is friendship (=sahabat, teman, mitra, partner, kolega, pela gandong, semangat korps, etc), which acknowledges and accept the difference among those from different genealogies, cultures, religions, but it is not seen as limitation to be together and act together. Therefore, Theology has to develop the idea of Christian friendship (Yoh 15: 13-15) along with the one of brotherhood, fraternity, in order to build communion among the citizens.

Abstract

Perubahan sosial budaya amat tergantung dari subyek. Karena itu yang paling bertanggung jawab atas perubahan-perubahan itu ialah subyek sesuai kewenangannya masing-masing.  Dalam konteks perubahan sosial dan budaya porsi kewenangan besar ada pada negara (pemerintah), karena negara telah diberikan hak oleh masyarakat untuk mengatur masyarakat (trias politica). Apabila Negara lalai melaksanakan hak yang diberikan masyarakat ini dengan baik, maka masyarakat memiliki kewenangan untuk mencabut hak itu daripadanya. Meskipun porsi kewenangan lebih besar ada pada Negara, setiap individu tetap berperan penting menentukan perubahan sosial-budaya. Bila individu-indvidu itu dapat mengkonsolidasikan diri dalam kelompok-kelompok kemasyarakatan dan membangun suatu visi bersama, maka dorongan para perubahan social dan budaya akan demikian kuat. Sekarang tinggal tergantung dari ke arah mana kelompok-kelompok itu mendrong perubahan sosial dan budaya, ke arah positif (nilai baik) atau negatif (nilai tidak baik).

Abstract

Democracy is a term which is understood as polical matters. Every nation owns his policy to maintain the practice of a democracy. Particulary in Indonesie, actualy we live our own democracy as a way of life that is based in our political, cultural and sosial’s background. Start from this point of view, we must put our understanding of democracy properly, then the rights of every citizen could have its place. In the other side we put the importance of the religious consciousness in this activity of democracy that rises some particular problemes. This is the point central of this discussion that we want to make it clear.

Abstract

Even though, the problem of the relationship between faith and reason has been a very classical topic in the history of philosophical and theological discussions, the urgency to keep on discussing the interrelationship between these two matters remains. The idea is that, at the core of the debates made of the connection of the two capacities, it is always concerned with the fundamemtal elements of human existence itself, which is, the problem of the sources of knowledge and understanding, truth, experience, understanding, knowledge and the fullness of human existence itself. This articles disucesses these points the document of Fides et Ratio implies. The idea is that, behind of John Paul II’s points of the relationship of these two, there are some philosophical elements which one can find and discuss. As previously mentioned, those ideas are the problem of truth and certainty, the status of reason and experience as the sources of knowledge, the problem of knowing and understanding, the problem of meaning and values and finally the problem of the fullness of human existence.

Abstract

Tulisan ini adalah sebuah usaha untuk merefleksikan realitas segregasi masyarakat Kota Ambon, yang disadarkan pada agama. Akibat dari situasi ini adalah 1) individu-individu komunitas agama akan berpotensi menekankan identitas keagamaannya, yang ditandai dengan kecenderungan untuk membela, menjaga dan mempromosikan kepositifan agamanya; 2) Individu-individu ini dapat menjadi sangat sensitif dalam mengidentifikasi dan mendefinisikan ancaman-ancaman dari komunitas agama lain; dan 3) Jika salah satu komunitas beragama saja berorientasi segregasi, maka hubungan yang terjadi dapat bersifat konfliktual. Untuk meminimalisir akibat situasi segregatif ini: 1) Pemerintah perlu menyikapi segregasi dengan terus memperbanyak ruang-ruang publik demi terciptanya perjumpaan dan komunikasi antar individu dari komunitas yang berbeda; 1) pemerintah perlu mengusahakan penyadaran tentang multikulturalisme; 3) para pemimpin dan para pemuka agama harus berwawasan inklusif; dan 4) Kesetaraan sesama warga kota harus tetap dipertahankan, yang tampak dalam sikap saling menghormati.
