Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Christian youth as the salt and light of the world based on Matthew 5:13-6 in the context of contemporary life. Today’s young generation faces significant challenges, including instant lifestyles, digital disruption, and moral crises. Employing a descriptive method and contextual approach, this research integrates theological interpretation with social data and youth delinquency statistics to construct a relevant and applicable understanding. The findings reveal that Jesus’ call to be the salt and light of the world remains deeply relevant, especially in shaping the character, communication, spirituality, and ethical conduct of millennials and Gen Z. This study contributes to practical theology and the spiritual formation of youth in modern times.

Abstract

Church community development programs play a crucial role in building strong faith foundations and facilitating both personal and communal transformation. This study explores how such programs can serve as vehicles for individual spiritual growth and the strengthening of congregational identity and solidarity. Using a literature review and theological practical analysis, this research finds that church formation is not only intrapersonal but also intersocial, creating a dynamic and relevant faith ecosystem amidst modern challenges. The findings highlight the need to integrate doctrinal, relational, and service oriented dimensions in church formation to effectively respond to fragmented faith and social disengagement among congregants. This study contributes novelty by presenting a holistic formation model that combines theological, psychological, and social aspects within the context of local Indonesian churches.

Abstract

This study aims to explore discipleship in the younger generation finding their true identity in Christ in today's digital era. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this study involved young people and young adults who are active in church communities. In this case, the younger generation in searching for identity in the digital era, finding true identity in Christ through discipleship requires the development of a discipleship approach that is responsive to complex social and digital dynamics. By integrating technology and interactive learning methods, discipleship can increase the relevance and effectiveness of programs offered to the younger generation. Through proper guidance, discipleship not only helps individuals recognize their identity in faith but also equips them with the skills and beliefs to contribute positively to society. The results of the study indicate that discipleship functions as a process of spiritual learning and in-depth character building, which strengthens the values of love, sacrifice, and commitment to the teachings of Christ. Through interactions in discipleship groups, young people are empowered to share hopes and challenges, strengthen a sense of solidarity, and discuss issues that are relevant to their lives. Thus, discipleship becomes a vital tool in forming a strong identity and guiding young people towards a meaningful life in line with their calling of faith.

Abstract

This research examines the meaning of unity and care in the growth of the early church based on Acts 2:1-47. Unity and care are two fundamental values that become the main foundation in building a healthy, harmonious, and dynamic faith community. This study uses a qualitative-theological approach with literature study as the main method, combining analysis of biblical texts and review of theological literature and previous research on early church growth. The main arguments of this study include: (1) unity as the foundation of church growth that strengthens spiritual and social bonds, (2) care as a form of love that strengthens solidarity and service in the community, and (3) synergy between unity and care that encourages holistic church growth. The study results show that unity and care not only complement each other but also become an effective driving force in building a vibrant and fruitful church. The theological and practical implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening the fellowship of prayer, teaching the word, and sincere social service in the context of today's church. This research provides strategic recommendations for the development of the contemporary church in order to emulate the Christian values that have proven to be the key to the growth of the early church.

Abstract

Facing the complex diversity in Indonesia, enhancing interfaith tolerance is a significant challenge, especially among the younger generation. This study aims to evaluate the effects of integrating Christian ethics and religious moderation into Christian Religious Education (CRE) at Bethel Church Indonesia (GBI) Cilamaya, Karawang, West Java. The study involved 82 junior and senior high school students participating in a learning program designed to enhance tolerance through understanding the values of other religions and positive intergroup interactions. The methods used were pre and post-intervention surveys, along with classroom interaction observations to document changes in attitudes towards tolerance and cooperation among students from various religious backgrounds. The results show that after the program, 75% of students demonstrated increased understanding of other religious values, and observations revealed significant enhancements in group discussions and more inclusive social interactions. This research indicates that the integration of Christian ethics and religious moderation effectively fosters tolerance among students, suggesting that such an approach can contribute significantly to preparing the younger generation to live in a harmonious multicultural society.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Supiori Regency, Papua, records an extreme poverty rate of 42.6% (2025) a paradox given its rich marine resources and historical-religious significance as the site of the first Gospel landing (1908). Technocratic development approaches have failed to address structural poverty by overlooking indigenous knowledge systems and institutional structures. Methods: This study employs a qualitative approach with an instrumental case study design. Data were collected through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) minutes on the identification and mapping of the Indigenous Law Community (MHA) of West Supiori District (March 2026), in-depth interviews with key informants, participatory observation at the "Maudori for All" proclamation (February 2026), and document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model with source and method triangulation. Results: The study identified an active hierarchical indigenous institutional structure (Sup Mnuk Wabu–Mananwir) across five villages, the sasisen practice as a form of traditional Territorial Use Rights in Fisheries (TURFs), and rich cultural-religious assets yet to be sovereignly monetised. The proclamation of "Maudori for All" with 8 Prayer Points of Restoration demonstrates strategic integration of spiritual values into public policy. Conclusion: Poverty alleviation in Supiori requires three simultaneous pillars: legal recognition of maritime customary rights through indigenous peoples' legislation (Perda MHA); strengthened collaborative governance based on the Three Hearthstones model (government–customary–church); and community-based economic development positioning indigenous communities as owners, not objects, of development.

Abstract

Abstract

The weakening of the home as the primary context for faith transmission has led many Christian families, including Pentecostal families, to delegate children’s spiritual formation to churches, Sunday schools, or Christian schools. This study aims to reinterpret Deuteronomy 6:7 pneumatologically and to conceptualize the Pentecostal family as an ecosystem of children’s faith formation. It employs a qualitative library-research design and a Pentecostal theological-hermeneutical approach. The primary text is Deuteronomy 6:4–9, with particular attention to the Hebrew verb shanan in verse 7. Secondary data comprise studies of Deuteronomy, Pentecostal theology and hermeneutics, intergenerational faith formation, the sociology of religious transmission. The analysis combines historical-literary and lexical readings, thematic categorization, theological dialogue between the biblical text and Pentecostal spirituality, and conceptual synthesis. The findings demonstrate that shanan denotes more than repetitive verbal teaching; it describes an intensive process by which God’s word is impressed upon children’s memory, affections, character, and practices. The sequence of sitting, walking, lying down, and rising indicates that faith formation permeates the whole rhythm of family life. From a Pentecostal perspective, this formation is pneumatological because it integrates Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, prayer, worship, testimony, parental modeling, discernment, and children’s participation. The study’s novelty is the Pentecostal Faith Formation Ecosystem Model, which connects the foundation of Scripture, the formative agency of the Spirit, parental responsibility, the home’s spiritual atmosphere, everyday and digital rhythms, and the outcomes of Christlike character and witness. The model positions the church as a partner that equips parents rather than replaces them.
