Abstract

Curiosity and mathematical communication are important aspects that students must have in learning mathematics. However, many studies show that students' mathematical curiosity and communication are still low. For this reason, it is important to instil this ability in students from the time they take basic education. This study aims to increase students' curiosity and students' mathematical communication skills through the Problem Based Learning model for elementary school students. This research is a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consists of 2 meetings. The subjects of this class action research were class IV students, totalling 32 students consisting of 13 male students and 19 female students. Data collection tools using tests and non-tests. The results of the observation of the curiosity of students in the first cycle are 69.05% with good criteria and in the second cycle is 84.95% with very good criteria. The results of the mathematical communication ability test of students in the first cycle were 74.06 with good criteria and in the second cycle, 84.2 with very good criteria. The results of observing teacher activities in the first cycle were 71.3% with good criteria and in the second cycle, 90.45% with very good criteria. The results of observing student activities in the first cycle were 63.5% with good criteria and in the second cycle 89.75% with very good criteria. The results of this study indicate that using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can increase the curiosity and mathematical communication skills of students in statistical material in class IV SD Negeri 1 Contributing.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the compulsory subjects given to students. However, several studies show that elementary school students still have difficulty in learning mathematics, causing very low learning outcomes. One effort that can be done is to use a variety of other learning methods that can increase students' interest in learning mathematics. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics in elementary school students by applying the Rewards and Punishments method. This study uses a quantitative approach with the correlational method. The sample in this study was the third-grade students of HKBP No.1 Sibolga Private Elementary School, which amounted to 32 students who were determined by using a random sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study are questionnaires and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that the results of the correlation test prove that there is a relationship between reward and punishment on student learning outcomes. This shows that there is an effect of reward and punishment on student learning outcomes in grade III SD HKBP No.1 Sibolga. The conclusion of this research is that the Rewards and Punishments method is proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects.

Abstract

Comics are alternative media that can be used by teachers in carrying out learning in elementary schools. Learning comics are stories made by teachers with certain characters with the aim of making it easier for students to understand the material. This research using the concept of literature review uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) technique. The Systematic Literature Review technique is carried out by reviewing articles that are in accordance with the topic of the research question and then making an in-depth study of the articles that have been reviewed. The results of the data analysis that has been carried out are that the use of comics can improve students' understanding of the material which results in improving student learning outcomes in elementary schools. In addition, the cultivation of good character values can be done through the use of comics. Another result is that the local culture of the local area in the elementary school can be used as a good alternative in setting up comic stories. It is necessary to choose a good topic so that the comics used can make it easier for students to understand the material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of parents in guiding learning activities from home in fourth-grade elementary school students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at SDN Kaliwadas 01. The source of data used was primary data using interviews with teachers, parents and students, and secondary data in the form of documentation. The informant selection technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. Analysis of the data used in this study using an interactive analysis model from Miles and Huberman which consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study on the role of parents in guiding learning activities from home during the covid-19 pandemic, the results of interviews, observations, and documentation regarding the role of parents in learning from home, there are several problems found in parents when guiding learning activities from home, some of these problems can conclude in this study: the lack of students in understanding the material so that it requires parents to study material that is not in their field, limited facilities, especially in terms of quotas, parents' educational backgrounds. The active role of parents in mentoring learning, directing children to study well, limiting children from playing with gadgets and parents providing facilities for children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the atmosphere of the learning environment and the mathematical-logical intelligence of the fifthgrade students in SD N 1 Tersobo. The approach used is a quantitative approach and the type of research is correlational. The population of this research is the fifthgrade students of SD N 1 Tersobo. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. Data was collected by means of interviews, distributing questionnaires and tests. Data analysis by means of: analysis prerequisite test includes normality test and linearity test and followed by hypothesis testing with correlation test. The results is a positive and significant relationship between the atmosphere of the learning environment and mathematical-logical intelligence students with an r value of 0.392. This shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between the atmosphere of the learning environment and Mathematical-Logical intelligence.
