Abstract

To increase service coverage and meet the increasing demand for drinking water, PDAM Tirta Kahuripan plans to build a Ciawi WTP in Megamendung District with a processing capacity of 165 L/second using the Sukabirus River as a raw water source. The purpose of this study was to determine the processing units in the design of the Ciawi WTP using multi-criteria analysis. Based on the results of the analysis of raw water quality, there were several parameters that do not meet the drinking water quality standards according to the Minister of Health Regulation No. 492 of 2010 and PPRI No. 82 of 2001, namely turbidity, Fecal coliform, total coliform, TSS, BOD, COD, and DO. There were three alternative processing circuits used. Alternative I consists of intake, hydraulic coagulation, up-down flow hydraulic flocculation, plate settler sedimentation, rapid sand filtration, disinfection, and reservoir. Alternative II consists of intake, hydraulic coagulation, vertical-shaft paddle wheel mechanical flocculation, tube settler sedimentation, rapid sand filtration, disinfection, and reservoir. Alternative III consists of intake, in-line static mixers coagulation, horizontal-shaft paddle wheel mechanical flocculation, plate settler sedimentation, rapid sand filtration, disinfection, and reservoir. There are other factors that must be considered in the selection of treatment units, namely contaminant removal, reliability, flexibility, construction, land requirements, ease of operation, maintenance, cost, and environmental compatibility. Based on multi-criteria analysis, the percentage of suitability for alternative I is 78%, Alternative II is 63%, and Alternative III is 48%. From this assessment, it can be said that alternative I is the best alternative.

Abstract

Well water often contains considerable iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). The iron and manganese content often transforms actually clear water into yellowish-brown. When iron and manganese content exceed quality standards, it can harm human health. To manage iron and manganese pollutants in well water, it would require research to reduce iron and manganese deposits in an easy and inexpensive way for people who still use water for domestic purposes, according to the Indonesia republic's health minister No. 492/ Menkes/IV/2010. Based on preliminary tests, the results of the initial iron component analysis of 1.06 mg/L and mangan 0.98 mg/ L. The variable in the study is a high proportion of the media filters of greensand on every reactor which is 30 cm, 50 cm and 70 centimeters with 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes of operation. The reactor is four inches of PVC pipe and the reactor is 80 cm tall, 100 centimeters and 120 centimeters tall. The fe and mn levels that have experienced the filtration treatment of every reactor have generally decreased. The deposite-based percentage is 0.02 mg/L with a set of exclusion efficiency of 98.11% and between 0.048 mg/L and the results of 95.92%.

Abstract

Pangarengan shallow lake in Depok City has been polluted by the garbage that has accumulated in the area and its surroundings as well as the waste water that enters. Pangarengan shallow lake pollution is caused by community activities in the catchment area. The purpose of the study was to determine the water quality of Pangarengan shallow lake. Sources of pullutants that enter the Pangarengan come from surrounding settlements, cattle breeding, and other domestic activities such as stalls and tofu factories. Parameters measured were temperature, TSS, turbidity, pH, DO, BOD, nitrate, phosphate, COD, and E.coli. The air quality analysis will then be compared with the quality standard according to Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. The status of water quality is determined by the pollution index method. BOD ranged from 4.78-11.90 mg/L, COD ranged from 38.40-86.40 mg/L, phosphate ranged from 0.05-0.29 mg/L, and E. coli ranged from 5,4x103-3,45x104 MPN/100 ml. The Pollutant Index of Pangarengan shallow lake is 5.34. The results of the Situ Pengarengan air quality analysis show that parameters still exceed the quality standards, that are BOD, COD,vphosphate, and E. coli and the water quality status of Pangarengan shallow lake is moderately polluted.

Abstract

Campus A of Trisakti University is located in Kyai Tapa Street, Grogol, West Jakarta. The campus area is diminutive with remaining green open spaces (GOS) that composed by various vegetation, especially in the plaza area- the main outdoor place in the campus. This research aims to identify vegetation types and compositions, and to discern its effect on the microclimate of GOS in Trisakti University. The research used descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling in several places: Campus A plaza, roof garden in the 9th floor of building K, and open space in Grogol Terminal. The latter place was used as a comparison between the campus area and the non-campus area. Vegetation composition analysis was conducted to know the relation between vegetation composition and microclimate. Besides temperature and relative humidity, the comfort level was also measured by using the Temperature Humidity Index (THI). The result shows that the biodiversity in the roof garden is higher than the plaza area. However, the canopy coverage in the plaza is better than the roof garden. So that the average temperature in the plaza is lower than the roof garden and Grogol Terminal- which only has few trees. The temperature in the plaza is 27,5-28.8 oC, while the roof garden and Grogol Terminal temperature are ranging around 27.7-30.0 oC and 29.3-31.9 oC respectively. Furthermore, the relative humidity in the plaza is higher than the roof garden and Grogol Terminal. Relative humidity in the plaza is 74.1%-78.3%, roof garden is 80.1%-82.8%, and Grogol Terminal is 69.7-77.1%. Therefore, it can be inferred that the plaza has a better comfort level than the roof garden and Grogol Terminal. The result also shows that there is a relation between vegetation composition and microclimate. A composition which has more stratification and various plant habitus tends to create a better microclimate, which can increase the users’ comfort.
