Abstract

Carving is a subtractive sculpture technique. In Nigeria, it evolved from traditional to contemporary art periods with its training domiciled in informal and formal art schools. Existing literature largely addressed traditional, informal training methods and historical practices of carving, however, there is a notable lack of focused studies on carving training and practice in formal Nigerian Art schools. This study investigates the training and practice of carving at LAUTECH Art School via students’ and alumni feedback. It aims to document existing Carvings, assess the pedagogical approaches employed in carving training, identify challenges limiting effective carving training and practice, and propose potential reforms to revitalize and sustain the carving practice in formal Nigerian art schools. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology, collecting primary data through surveys, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and field investigation. Secondary data were sourced from academic journal articles, and reports on carving practice in Nigeria. All data gathered were subjected to qualitative analysis. Findings revealed that carving is not a preferred sculpture technique at LAUTECH Art School. The lack of infrastructure dedicated to carving and insufficient staffing hinder effective training. Respondents’ concern about carving’s economic viability resulted in a declining student interest in the practice. The study recommends increased investment in tools and materials, recruitment of specialized instructors, integration of traditional and modern carving methods, and the organization of regular exhibitions and training programs. These efforts could revitalize interest in carving, enabling LAUTECH Art School to preserve and promote Nigeria’s rich carving heritage.

Abstract

The article examines political science development through historical and philosophical analysis to understand how the discipline has evolved its paradigms and methodological debates. The research starts by showing how political science evolved from its origins in Plato and Aristotle through the creation of contemporary Western and Eastern political systems. The research problem examines how different philosophical traditions and discourses have formed political science as a distinct field of study which leads to essential disagreements between researchers who focus on empirical transformations versus those who focus on ethical preservation. The research aims to establish a complete understanding of political science development through an analysis of its conceptual roots and historical impacts and philosophical interactions. The research uses critical qualitative analysis to study political science development through a combination of essential literature review and historical and comparative case study evaluation. The research shows that political science continues to exhibit methodological pluralism through its combination of empirical research with philosophical analysis. The article shows that constructivist and historical–causal frameworks serve as crucial tools for understanding political phenomena because they reveal their dynamic nature and their contested and context-dependent characteristics. The research demonstrates that contemporary governance challenges and ethical questions require interdisciplinary and reflexive approaches which support a political science that combines historical understanding with forward-looking analysis to remain relevant in the twenty-first century.

Abstract

This study investigates the narrative transformation of KKN di Desa Penari as it migrated across multiple media platforms, illustrating how local stories are reinterpreted within Indonesia’s hybrid digital ecosystem. Originating as a Twitter thread, the narrative evolved into novels, films, and user-generated content, reflecting the dynamic interplay between intertextuality, adaptation, remediation, and participatory culture. While previous studies have addressed digital folklore or single-medium adaptations, few have explored how a single narrative transforms holistically across platforms through both formal production and audience engagement. The purpose of this study was to analyze how KKN di Desa Penari was reshaped through cross-platform adaptation, cultural negotiation, and participatory practices. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with intertextual analysis, the research drew data from primary sources (Twitter thread, novel, film, memes, fan art, TikTok videos, YouTube commentary) and secondary literature. The findings reveal that each medium reconfigured the narrative in distinct ways: Twitter fostered fragmented, speculative storytelling; the novel embedded local moral codes; the film remediated the story into visual spectacle; and user-generated content extended the narrative through reinterpretation and cultural commentary. This study contributes to understanding how local narratives achieve longevity and cultural relevance through digital convergence and audience co-creation.

Abstract

All K12 graduates in Cambodia must choose the suitable university for furthering their study. Therefore, this study analyzes why the majority of BELTEI International School (BELTEI IS) alumni chose other universities over BELTEI International University (BELTEI IU), despite the institutional relationship. BELTEI IS is one of Cambodia's largest private school networks, while BELTEI IU, its higher education equivalent, provides degrees in 13 faculties and 45 specialties. However, only a tiny fraction of BELTEI IS graduates (11% at Campus 1 and 5% at Campus 2) enrolled at BELTEI IU for the 2024-2025 academic year. This phenomenological research, which used purposive sampling and in-depth semi-structured interviews with 80 BELTEI IS graduates, investigates the factors that influence their university decisions. According to the findings, students chose other schools mostly because of perceived better employment prospects (14.8%), family/friend recommendations (12.7%), and a higher reputation/ranking (11.3%). BELTEI IS staff had little impact over these decisions (82.5% indicated no influence). Participants stressed the importance of BELTEI IU offering a distinctive campus atmosphere, advanced academic programs, greater research and innovation possibilities, and improved teaching quality. They also stressed the need for a student-centered approach, greater career assistance, and budgetary transparency. These elements, together with university culture and value offer, are critical in decision-making for future professional success.

Abstract

Cambodia's higher education institutions focus quality improvement. As a result, this research investigates quality enhancement for long-term growth at private higher education institutions (HEIs) in North-Eastern Cambodia, with a particular emphasis on graduate quality and labor market skill mismatches. The major purpose was to look at quality management components that encourage HEI quality improvement. A cross-sectional quantitative technique was used to collect data from 384 respondents. The theoretical framework specifies Quality Management, Quality in Education, Enhancement, Quality Assurance, and Quality Assessment, with an emphasis on curriculum standards, qualified individuals, and effective leadership. The findings revealed overwhelmingly positive perceptions of various quality management dimensions, including educational management, academic curriculum, academic staff and teaching strategies, student assessment, facilities and support staff, collaborations, financial management, internal quality assessment, and external quality assessment. Predictors accounted for 84.5% of the variation in HEI Quality Enhancement (R-squared =.845, p <.001). Student assessment had the most beneficial influence, followed by internal and external quality assessments, facilities and support personnel, and partnerships. Correlation analysis found significant dependency among these factors. A SWOT analysis identified strengths (internal quality assurance, leadership), weaknesses (resource constraints, data management), opportunities (external validation, collaboration), and threats (regulatory changes, economic pressures). This study highlights the need of quality improvement in Cambodian higher education institutions (HEIs), focusing on student evaluation, quality assurance, infrastructure, and strategic alliances. Future research should focus on multicollinearity, factors having non-significant effects, and bigger qualitative or comparative investigations.

Abstract

Even tough mobile payment has been increasing adopted in Cambodia, there is a lack of business and academic study on the building of the conceptual model. This academic article systematically reviews factors influencing user satisfaction and continuance intention for mobile payment applications in Cambodia. It integrates the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), along with other constructs like perceived service quality, credibility, compatibility, and perceived risk. The research emphasizes user satisfaction as a crucial mediator for sustained engagement, noting Cambodia's rapid adoption of mobile payments due to government initiatives. The study concludes by proposing a conceptual model and outlining research methodology involving document analysis and thematic synthesis of scholarly papers, all factors have a significant impact on user satisfaction and continuance intention to adopt mobile payment; however, perceived risk has a negative impact on both user satisfaction and continuance intention. These findings open floor for future study by using a certain sophisticated statistical tool.
