Abstract

Bali cow (Bos sondaicus Muller) is a cow that is widely maintained. Poor sanitation of cowshed is caused by cow feces that are not cleaned, and become a medium of transmission of gastrointestinal worm parasites. The study aimed to compare the prevalence, intensity and degree of infection of parasitic worm eggs in the feces of Bali cows from two different shed sanitation, from a shed with poor sanitation and a from shed with good sanitation. The eggs of parasitic worms are separated from feces by buoyant methods and by sedimentation methods. The results showed that 15 out of 16 samples of Balinese cows contained parasites with a total of 43 worm eggs. The number of parasites obtained from Bali cow feces samples from shed with poor sanitation is higher (31 worm eggs) than that obtained from a well-sanitized shed (12 worm eggs). The prevalence, intensity and degree of parasitic infection obtained from Bali cow feces samples from a shed with poor sanitation were higher than those obtained from a shed with good sanitation. The results showed that poor shed sanitation increased the chances of cows being infected with parasites so that the prevalence, intensity and degree of infection of parasitic worm eggs were also high.

Abstract

The presence of a waste bank institution can encourage people to have the habit of sorting waste and change the paradigm that waste is worth. Furthermore, with a waste bank, the community can earn additional income from selling waste. The presence of a waste bank also has an impact on aspects of environmental cleanliness. In this study, researchers describe the environmental impact of the existence of a waste bank and the allocation of additional income earned by the community from the sale of sorted waste. The method used in this research is a survey by conducting interviews with the waste bank management to determine the management model. Interviews were also conducted with waste bank customers to obtain data on the amount of waste deposited and the customer's financial allocation. The number of customers in Dusun Krecekan is 19 people. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical methods to describe the waste bank management mechanism and the portion of the community's additional income allocation from participation in waste bank activities. The presence of the Krecekan Ngudi Resik waste bank is the result of initiation from the community-driven by the desire to create a clean environment. Good waste bank management is the key to a sustainable waste bank. The presence and support of community leaders also play an essential role in the sustainability of the waste bank. The Krecekan Ngudi Resik waste bank has positively impacted environmental hygiene and the community's economy. Most people who become customers (78.9%) allocate money obtained from waste bank activities for consumption needs.

Abstract

Based on the analysis at SMAN 36 in Biology learning, some students do have not optimal critical thinking skills and have not achieved minimum completeness. This can be seen in the lack of willingness to ask questions, involvement in opinion, and formulating problems does not reflect questions that use higher-order thinking. The study aims to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills and learning completeness of students in class XII MIPA 4 SMAN 36 Jakarta in human heredity. The method used is classroom action research which consists of two cycles through BCPBL. Learning is carried out with presentation discussions to explain the cases of each group which are prepared asynchronously. Data collecting by tests, observation of learning activities, and student response questionnaires. The research data were analyzed using a comparative description followed by reflection. The comparative description is done by comparing the initial condition data, cycles I and II, both for learning activities and learning outcomes. The results of this study indicate that BCPBL can improve critical thinking skills and complete learning from cycle I to cycle II. The results of the daily assessment in the first cycle showed that 28 students (77.78%) completed. The second cycle showed that 31 students (86.11%) completed it. Through BCPBL learning activities, students have an active learning experience, have interest, and respond as expected.
