Abstract

One of the teachers in the ‘School of Rock’ movie is characterized uniquely compared to the others. Instead of being like a teacher normally does, the main character of this movie is a member of a band who disguises himself as a teacher. He once pretends to be his friend who applied as a teacher in that certain school. Categorized as a comedy movie, it does not have a serious plot but is a lot of fun. Nevertheless, an interesting thing pops up about how the main character, Deway, teaches art through his ‘own way of teaching’. To analyze this movie deeper, the researcher used a literature review as a data collection. This article was then presented by using a narrative method that is by breaking down each element thoroughly and educational approach through Herbert Read’s art. By completing this article, it is expected to see the interrelation between the elements building the art with its comprehensive meaning

Abstract

Drama script is anelement that forms theatrical performances. A good quality script certainly has a moral value to be conveyed by the author to the reader or the appreciator of the show when it is staged in a performance. Talking about art nowadays, it can be seen in the expression of human creativity. Art is very difficult to both explain and judge since each artist selects his or her rules and parameters guiding them into their works. It can be inferred that art has three points: a process and product of choosing a medium, a set of rules to use a medium, and a set of values determining what is appropriate to be conveyed by expression through that medium, in order to deliver either a belief, idea, sensation or feeling effectively. Moral value is a message in a story or other works that the author wants to convey to the reader. The message to be conveyed is usually in the form of good values that can be used as an example for the readers. In this study, an analysis of the cockroach opera by N. Riantiarno will be conducted based on the study of moral value.

Abstract

The analysis of Sekartaji Tandhing’s movement in Sekartaji Tandhing dance aims at figuring out the factual factors and aspects of the characters in the movement found in Sekartaji Tandhing dance. By employing Agus Tasman’s Analysis of Dance Moves and Character, including space, time, energy, movement, and a character concept consisting of typology, character, and temperament, it was found that the Sekartaji Tandhing’s characters met a good quality of character and movement analysis. The inner and outer reflection used as aspects in analyzing the Sekartaji Tandhing’s characters discovered an aesthetic point that its beauty can be felt and was scientifically justified

Abstract

Nganjuk regency is known for its textile craft with itscharacteristics called Nganjukbatik. Nganjuk batik has some unique motifs such as the Ajuk Ladang, Sera Rumput, Sido Mukti Tungkak, Sundut Sate, Acacia Flower Tumpal, and Rambutan Flower Tumpal.These motifs are usually worn in any formal and informal events.Tetuko written batik of Nganjuk Regency as one of the sub-sectors of the creative industry is createdbased on local wisdom or the nation's cultural heritage. The creativity inmaking and developing this batik is needed to produce competitive and high-quality products. Thus, this study aims at determining the creativity and motifs of Tetuko written batik used during the batik-making process. It was done by employing a descriptive qualitative and experiment along with observation, interview, and documentation. The targets of conducting this study are to provide a contribution, inspiration, and innovation to encourage creative and critical thinking ability related to creativity and motifs in Tetuko written batik of Nganjuk Regency. It is expected that this batik appealsto more people and becomes a high-quality product.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theatrical elements found in mandiekanak. Mandiekanak is a ritual that is part of BaralekGadang and only found in the Salareh Aia region. This research uses Schechner's performance studies approach to analyze research subjects. According to Carlson, the concept of cultural performance is used to look deeper at the events of mandiekanak. It also uses Dramaturgy theory to see the theatrical element while qualitative research methods collect data in purposive sampling. The collected data is then analyzed descriptively using ethnographic methods. The analysis results showed that the mandiekanak has the purpose of maintaining the family of the bride's father or bako, as for the theatrical elements in the form of scripts, performers, audiences, and venues. Manuscripts are rules that ensure the survival of a mandiekanak. The player refers to all people who are involved in it. The mandiekanak audience is participatory, while the place refers to the area where the mandiekanak exists
