Abstract

Ancestral heritage in the form of traditional Balinese communication tools made of wood or bamboo operates in banjar activities, especially those in Banjar Palak Sukawati. The strength and character of the sound produced by the kulkul inspired the idea of a creative karawitan piece called “Tetenger Kulkul”. The karawitan art composition entitled “Tetenger Kulkul” is a Bebarongan Kreasi musical composition that uses the five-tone Bebarongan Gamelan as the medium. The purpose of creating this karawitan work is to transform an idea born from a traditional communication tool called kulkul and to describe the traditional values contained in the use of the kulkul communication tool as outlined through traditional karawitan works. This traditional karawitan work "Tetenger Kulkul" is realized through a qualitative method of observation, interviews, and literature study. Then, the molding of the idea was carried out using the creation method from Alma M. Hawkins including the exploration, improvisation and formation stages. The bebarongan musical creation "Tetenger Kulkul" consists of percussion instruments often used to accompany wewali and balihan ceremonies. The “Tetenger Kulkul” percussion incorporates religious, creative, independent, communicative, and responsible values.

Abstract

The stage serves as a barrier between the artists and the audience, therefore theatrical activities are inextricably linked to it. In order for a theatrical performance to flow smoothly and for the audience to engage with the performers, the stage is a crucial component. Through artistic communication, aesthetic value is created. In the end, this serves as the foundation for artistic endeavours involving the visualization of artistic arrangements on stage. In order for the artistic arrangement in a performance to become more than just a connected component and instead become a whole theatrical production, the director and artistic director must also be able to give meaning to the various elements. Through the visual medium of performing arts, the audience can be given aesthetic gratification through the implementation of a comprehensive creative arrangement. In addition to using Herry Dim's method of art creation, this piece employs a representational theatre style performance approach with accurate and naturalistic environmental descriptions. The artistic arrangement of the script "Senja degan Dua Kelelawar" is another goal in the development of this piece of theatre art. The developed concept was then utilized to visualize the artistic layout of the script Senja degan Dua Kelelawar" and create works of art by combining different parts and elements of the artistic layout that ultimately resulted in a performance. Hence,  it can deliver a visually stunning and harmonic performance on stage

The flute is a great source of inspiration in creating new musical instruments. The creation of the Gamelan Flute artwork was carried out to explore the source of ideas for flute instruments, which will then be realized in the form of creating a new set of musical instruments, developments from modified flute instruments with the aim of looking for updates to other forms, both in terms of visual form, technique and function. For this reason, there is a need for organological and musical innovation in the creation of music based on flute instruments. When trying to develop a new musical instrument, creators can take elements of the flute that they find interesting and combine them with creative ideas. By developing flute instruments or using modern technology in making instruments, artists can create unique and interesting sounds, providing a deeper artistic dimension and expressing themselves in new ways in their work. Understanding this cultural background and integrating it into the design of a new musical instrument can hopefully produce something unique and valuable.
