Abstract

Antiretroviral therapy is believed not to be able to cure the disease; however, it can reduce mortality and morbidity. It also improves the quality of life of people with HIV. The success of the HIV/AIDS treatment is determined by adherence to antiretroviral therapy. ARV therapy is given in a long run and can be said as optimal if the compliance reaches more than 95%. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between certain factors and adherence to ARV therapy in people with HIV/AIDS. The design of this study was a descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 198 patients were recruited through a purposive sampling technique. The result of the study showed that there was no relation between adherence with age (p-value of 0.327), education (p-value of 0.859), and treatment (p-value of 0.74). From this study, it can be recommended that nurses need to improve their HIV counseling skills, especially about the benefits of adherence using a communicative media. Hospitals should also encourage more support to achieve better adherence in patients living with HIV/AIDS. Keyword: Adherence, HIV/AIDS, Antiretroviral Therapy

Abstract

Hormonal contraception type injectable contraceptives increasingly popular in Indonesia because of its practical, cost-effective, and safe. Side effects of use injectable contraceptives is changes in nutritional status. Nutritional status is a measure in the assessment of nutritional fulfillment that reflects a person's health status. Changes in nutritional status are multifactorial like husband’s support. This study aims to explain the relationship between husband’s support with nutritional status on injectable contraceptives acceptor. This study used cross sectional design. The sample in this research is women of childbearing age who use injectable contraceptive of Puskesmas Gading Surabaya region obtained by purposive sampling technique. Independent variable is husband’s support. The dependent variable is the nutritional status of injectable contraceptives acceptor. The instruments in this study were questionnaires and BMI measurements. To find out the relationship, this study uses Spearman correlation test. Husband’s support with nutritional status on injectable contraceptives acceptor, obtained result p = 0,00 (r) = -0,546. The husband’s support with nutritional status on injectable contraceptives acceptor has a moderate correlation with negative correlation coefficient, it means that less respondents get support from their husbands, nutritional status will increase until they get overweight or obese. It is necessary to increase the involvement of husbands in deciding the use of contraception, so women of childbearing age of injecting contraceptives acceptor receives adequate husband’s support.

The results of the stigma scale of health care providers were found that most (60%) of health care providers consisting of nurses, doctors, midwives, nutritionists have a high stigma against PLWHA. The high stigma against PLWHA may bring negative impact on health care services to PLWHA. Therefore, measurements of HIV-related stigma among health care providers need to be done, so that the policy-makers can formulate strategies to prevent the stigma of health care providers.Keyword: Discrimination, Health Care Providers, PLWHA, Stigma

This study aimed to determine the effect of combination pursed lip breathing and guided imagery music to increase  value of peak expiratory flow in patients with COPD. Methods: The study was quasi-experimental design with pretest posttest with control group approach, respondents of this study is 46 patients with COPD with sampling technique, simple random sampling. Results: Pursed lip breathing increase peak expiratory flow values by the significant of p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). The combination of pursed lip breathing and guided imagery music increase peak expiratory flow values by the significant of p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). COPD patients who received a combination of pursed lip breathing and guided imagery music increased peak expiratory flow value higher than the pursed lip breathing without combination with significant of p value = 0.000 (p <0.05).Conclusion:The combination of pursed lip breathing and guided imagery music proved to have an effect on increasing the value of peak expiratory flow higher than pursed lip breathing without combination.

Abstract

People with kidney failure should have hemodialysis therapy to survive. The effectiveness of hemodialysis therapy can be measured by calculating the value of dialysis adequacy: Kt/V and URR values. Intradialytic exercise is an exercise that can improve of dialysis adequacy. The purpose of this review is to report the results of related research on the effect of intradialytic exercise on dialysis adequacy. Relevant articles were search in PubMed, Science Direct and Google Scholar using this keywords intradialytic exercise and dialysis adequacy. Results: 12 articles ware included in the review and found various intradialytic exercises, intradialytic training time and length of intradialytic training. Exercises that can improve the adequacy of dialysis are static bike exercises, airogym and aerobics. While exercise resistance decreases the value of dialysis adequacy. We also found that the initial adequacy varied. Discussion: mild exercise can increase dialysis adequacy, in the first two hours of dialysis and minimum exercise was conducted two month. Currently no literature that recommend type and length of intradialytic exercise. Conclusion: intradialytic exercise can increase the value of dialysis adequacy, although it has increased, the mean value of adequacy before exercise is above standard. To confirm these findings, further research is needed to conducted exercise ware the value of adequacy under standard values.
