Abstract

The level of anxiety in preoperative caesarean section patients who receive spinal anesthesia can affect physiological and psychological responses that affect surgical outcomes. Endorphin massage therapy is a relaxation technique that aims to increase endorphin production and reduce anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of endorphin massage therapy on the anxiety level of patients before cesarean section with spinal anesthesia at RSI Purwokerto. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The sample consisted of 30 preoperative caesarean section patients selected using purposive sampling technique. Anxiety level was measured using HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire before and after endorphin massage therapy. Data analysis was performed using paired statistical tests. The results showed a decrease in the patient's anxiety level before the massage intervention of 23.23 and after the intervention of 11.90, these results indicate the average difference in anxiety scores in preoperative caesarean section mothers is 11.23. Wilcoxon statistical test showed the result (p<0.05). With the conclusion that endorphin massage therapy effectively reduces anxiety levels in patients undergoing cesarean section with spinal anesthesia. This intervention can be used as a non-pharmacological method to reduce patient anxiety before surgery.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of digestive surgery, offering significant advancements in diagnostic accuracy, surgical precision, and perioperative management. Technologies such as machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) enhance surgical outcomes by identifying complex patterns in data, supporting real-time decision-making, and improving personalized patient care. This study aims to systematically evaluate the current applications, challenges, and future potential of AI-powered innovations in digestive surgery. A systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. The search utilized databases including Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, Crossref, and Web of Science. Keywords like "artificial intelligence," "machine learning," "digestive surgery," and "surgical AI" yielded 3,285 articles. After applying inclusion criteria, 23 studies published between 2020 and 2024 were selected for narrative synthesis. The review highlights AI's applications in endoscopic procedures, achieving diagnostic accuracy up to 98% for early-stage cancers. AI-driven systems enhance intraoperative precision, particularly in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, reducing complication risks and improving outcomes. Moreover, AI-based predictive models support perioperative management by optimizing surgical planning and postoperative care, demonstrating improved efficiency and patient safety. AI is reshaping digestive surgery by enabling better diagnostics, personalized treatment, and improved surgical outcomes. Despite challenges like data quality and ethical concerns, the continued evolution of AI technologies holds promise for further advancements in surgical practices and education

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by pathology involving the entire joint, including cartilage degradation, osteophyte formation, and synovial inflammation, leading to pain, stiffness, and loss of normal joint function. Data on the incidence and prevalence of osteoarthritis in general, estimated at 302 million people worldwide. In indonesia there is an increase in cases of osteoarthritis in 2019 occurred by 153,2% in male population and 143,36% infemale population. This study aims to provide an evidence-based review of the efficacy of herbal extracts as an adjunctive or alternative therapy in the treatment of osteoarthritis. The search results were 746 studies, only 9 studies met the inclusion criteria. From the use of herbal extract combination of tamarindus indica and curcuma longa (turmeric), boswellia serrata, and zingiber officinale. The results obtained showed that the combination of curcuma longa (turmeric) and tamarindus indica showed a significant value which can be seen from the meta-analysis results of -9.72 (95% CI -15.52, -3.92) for the use of extracts for 5 days and -15.66 (95% CI -21.21, -10.11) for the use of extracts for 28-30 days, indicating that the combination of tamarindus indica and curcuma longa has potential as a long-term or short-term osteoarthritis therapy

Abstract

Indoor air quality is a critical determinant of respiratory health in early childhood, particularly in densely populated areas with poor ventilation. This case study aims to identify the relationship between household air pollution exposure and respiratory symptoms among children in Region X. Ten households were purposively selected, and direct measurements of PM2.5, carbon monoxide, and humidity were conducted alongside behavioral observation and symptom recording over a two-week period. Results indicated that indoor PM2.5 and CO levels exceeded safety thresholds, with higher frequencies of symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath among children living in poorly ventilated homes. These findings suggest that unhealthy, high-density housing conditions have a direct impact on child respiratory health. The study recommends community-based interventions focusing on ventilation improvement, reduction of indoor pollution sources, and health education. The findings provide an empirical basis for the development of healthy housing programs in densely populated urban settings.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between added sugar consumption patterns and the risk of obesity among urban secondary school adolescents in Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative, cross-sectional design, using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and anthropometric measurements to collect data from 400 adolescents aged 12-17 years. The results revealed a high prevalence of sugary drink and snack consumption, with over 75% of participants consuming sugar-sweetened beverages at least three times a week. The study found a positive correlation between frequent sugar consumption and higher BMI values, with adolescents consuming more than 30 grams of added sugar per day being significantly more likely to be classified as overweight or obese. Socioeconomic factors played a crucial role, as lower-income adolescents consumed more sugar compared to their higher-income peers. The findings highlight the need for targeted public health interventions to reduce sugar intake and promote healthier dietary habits, particularly among lower-income urban adolescents. Schools and policymakers are encouraged to implement strategies that limit sugary food and drink availability while promoting physical activity.

Abstract

Handwashing behavior is a key pillar in preventing infectious diseases, but awareness and consistency were still low among students before the COVID-19 pandemic. In the digital era, social media has become a potential channel for delivering health education massively and interactively. This study aims to analyze the effect of health education exposure through social media on handwashing behavior in students and identify the relationship between knowledge levels and hygienic practices. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytical survey design . A sample of 385 students was selected stratified. random sampling. The research instrument was a structured online questionnaire that included variables of educational exposure, knowledge, and handwashing behavior. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed a very strong and significant relationship between exposure to health education through social media and handwashing behavior (r = 0.995; p < 0.01). The linear regression model produced R² = 0.991, which means that educational exposure explains 99.1% of the variation in handwashing behavior. Visual platforms such as TikTok and Instagram have proven to be more effective than text-based media. This study demonstrates the importance of utilizing social media as a strategic tool in preventive health promotion among college students and encourages the design of more targeted and evidence-based digital interventions.
