Abstract

Toddlerhood, especially during the first 1,000 days of life, is a critical phase for growth and development. Balanced nutrition during this period greatly determines children’s future health and development. Mothers play a central role in fulfilling children’s nutritional needs; therefore, effective education methods are required. This study aimed to examine the effect of video-based education on mothers’ knowledge of balanced nutrition for toddlers. The population consisted of all mothers of toddlers in Tanjung Sari Village, East Lampung. The sample was 64 mothers selected using total sampling. A pre-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest was applied. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire before and after a 5-minute educational video, which was screened twice. Data analysis used a paired t-test to determine knowledge differences before and after the intervention. Results showed a significant improvement in mothers’ knowledge after the intervention (mean difference = 15.07; p < 0.001). Video-based education effectively increases mothers’ knowledge of balanced nutrition for toddlers. This medium is recommended for healthcare workers and posyandu cadres as an engaging, efficient, and easy-to-understand educational tool.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem characterized by a child’s height being below the standard for their age. This condition remains a major public health concern, particularly among toddlers, because it affects physical growth, cognitive development, and future productivity. Maternal parenting patterns are considered one of the important factors influencing children’s nutritional status. According to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) 2024, the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia reached 21.6%, which is still above the WHO standard of less than 20%. In Central Java Province, the prevalence slightly decreased from 20.8% in 2022 to 20.7% in 2023, but it has not yet achieved the national target of 14%. In Klaten Regency, the prevalence was recorded at 13.9%, while Leses Village had the highest prevalence in the Manisrenggo Health Center area at 23.1%. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal parenting patterns and the incidence of stunting among children aged 24–59 months. The study used a quantitative correlational analytical method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 55 mothers were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets, then analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that 65.5% of mothers had good parenting patterns, 18.2% moderate, and 16.4% poor. A significant relationship was found between maternal parenting patterns and stunting incidence (p = 0.002; r = –0.414), indicating that better parenting patterns are associated with lower stunting incidence.

Abstract

Knowledge is paramount in implementing an action because actions based on knowledge are, in principle, better. Husbands who have good knowledge about stunting prevention can provide support to mothers by meeting the nutritional needs of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Husband's support is the most important element in helping individuals solve problems. With support, self-confidence will increase and motivation to face problems will increase. Family support, especially husbands, is very dominant in providing moral and physical assistance during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between husbands' knowledge levels and support for pregnant women in stunting prevention efforts. This type of research is quantitative with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. This study was conducted at the Blora Community Health Center UPTD with a population of 92 husbands of pregnant women who underwent examinations in August 2024. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling and obtained a sample of 75 people. The research instrument used a knowledge and support questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Fisher's Exact test with a 5% error rate. The results showed a relationship between husbands' knowledge and support for pregnant women in stunting prevention efforts with a p-value of 0.002 <0.05. There is a need to increase counseling for pregnant women about preventing stunting by involving the family, especially the husband.

Abstract

Anemia is a major health problem experienced by adolescent girls, with a high prevalence caused by various factors, particularly a lack of nutritional knowledge and low iron intake. Preventive efforts are crucial, especially health education delivered using engaging and accessible media. Video-based education, particularly animated formats, is considered effective in attracting attention, maintaining focus, and improving understanding among adolescents. This study aims to analyze the effect of balanced nutrition education using animated video media on adolescent girls' knowledge of anemia. This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach. A total of 42 female students at SMK II Angkasa Kalijati were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge levels before and after the intervention. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and the Mann-Whitney test to evaluate differences in knowledge scores. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention. The Mann-Whitney test showed a difference in pretest scores with a p-value of 0.001 and a posttest score with a p-value of 0.000. The Wilcoxon test also showed a significant increase in the mean rank with a p-value <0.05. These findings indicate that animated video media is very effective in increasing adolescent girls' knowledge about anemia prevention. In conclusion, health education using animated videos serves as an innovative and practical method to increase awareness and knowledge among adolescents, thus supporting efforts to reduce the prevalence of anemia.

Abstract

Anemia among pregnant women remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 27.7%. Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) is an important intervention for anemia prevention; however, its effectiveness largely depends on pregnant women’s adherence to its consumption. At Ngaliyan Public Health Center, 301 anemia cases were recorded in 2023 and 33 cases in early 2025, indicating that anemia persists despite the provision of supplementation. This study aimed to describe the factors influencing adherence to MMS consumption among pregnant women, including education level, occupation, income, medical history, sources of information, and adherence behavior. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of third-trimester pregnant women who attended antenatal care at Ngaliyan Public Health Center. A total sampling technique was applied, involving 65 respondents. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire assessing adherence indicators, including dosage, timing, frequency, and method of MMS consumption. The results showed that most respondents had a moderate education level (46.1%), were unemployed (61.5%), and had a family income above the Regional Minimum Wage of Semarang City (69.2%). Nearly all respondents had no medical history (98.5%), and all respondents received information about MMS from healthcare workers (100%). Overall adherence to MMS consumption was categorized as good. These findings indicate that education level, income, and access to information from healthcare workers play an important role in supporting pregnant women’s adherence to MMS consumption. Abstract

The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) report shows that the prevalence of central obesity in the population aged 15 years and over has reached 36.8%. The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalence of central obesity by age group, education level, and employment status. Furthermore, it was also to determine the relationship between age, education level, and employment status with abdominal circumference (central obesity). This study was a quantitative study with a secondary data analysis design from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The study sample consisted of men with complete data on anthropometric measurements (abdominal circumference) and demographic characteristics. The sampling technique used was multistage random sampling. Analysis using the chi-square test was conducted to examine the relationship between age, education level, and employment status with central obesity (abdominal circumference measurement). The results showed a significant relationship between age, education level, and employment status with central obesity (abdominal circumference measurement), with each p-value <0.001. It is recommended that a health stewardship approach should focus on lifestyle interventions in the workplace and health education for productive age groups to prevent a heavier burden of heart disease in the future.
