Abstract

The establishment of a BRICS currency by the alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa aims to reduce reliance on the US dollar in international trade. This new currency is expected to enhance economic stability for BRICS member countries and mitigate exchange rate fluctuation risks. For Indonesia, an open economy highly dependent on international trade, the presence of a BRICS currency could impact national economic sovereignty. This study aims to analyze the potential effects of the BRICS currency on Indonesia's economic sovereignty, particularly in maintaining national economic stability amid changing global financial architecture. This research utilizes a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study to explore the implications of the BRICS currency on Indonesia's economic policy.

Abstract

Rice plant diseases pose a significant threat, reducing crop yields. Especially in agricultural areas such as the Tanjung Morawa region of Deli Serdang, accurate and rapid early detection is very difficult. Three main disease types, Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB), Brown Spot, and Leaf Smut, are identified by the MobileNetV2 architecture in the rice disease detection system. The transfer learning method was employed to enhance training using local public data. Although metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score were used to measure performance, evaluation of the model showed that accuracy and detection efficiency had improved compared to traditional methods. By integrating this system into a Flask-based web application, users can upload photos of rice leaves and receive detection results directly. It is expected that this research will make a significant contribution to the development of intelligent agricultural technologies that will help farmers find rice diseases early and treat them correctly.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital marketing strategies in e-commerce has increasingly encouraged irrational consumer behavior during flash sales, particularly among Gen Z, who are more familiar with the digital world. This study aims to determine the effects of FOMO and the principle of qana'ah (contentment with what one has)on panic buying behavior in Gen Z during flash sales of fashion products on the e-commerce platform Shopee. The research employed a quantitative method, using primary data collected through questionnaires completed by 250 Gen Z respondents who are active Shopee users. The sampling technique employed was non-probability, purposive sampling, using a Likert scale questionnaire instrument. The data analysis involved validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis with a focus on partial tests (t-tests). The data analysis was carried out using the Statistic Product and Service Solution (SPSS) software, version 25. The results show that (1) FOMO partially has a positive and significant effect on panic buying behavior; and (2) the principle of qana'ah partially does not have a significant effect on panic buying behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Implementation of Castration Law Against Sexual Crime Perpetrators in Indonesia. The type of research used in this writing is Normative Research, namely legal research conducted by examining library materials or secondary data. Discussion Results: The Implementation of Castration Law Against Sexual Crime Perpetrators in Indonesia has not been effectively implemented. This can be seen from the many cases of sexual crimes decided by judges, not containing additional criminal penalties in the form of castration for perpetrators of sexual crimes. In addition, the implementation of castration punishment for perpetrators of sexual crimes is still a pro and con for the community. Where the punishment is not in accordance with the criminal system regulated in the Criminal Code. Another reason that the implementation of castration punishment is unnecessary is because it clearly violates Law Number 39 of 2009 concerning Human Rights. Where perpetrators of crimes still have the opportunity to live and continue their descendants. Castration punishment is considered very cruel and cruel, and inhumane, even violating medical ethics.

Abstract

The main aim of this study was to produce acid-activated bleaching earth from bentonite clay for edible oil bleaching, which is a clay mineral that can be used in its natural or acid-activated states to clarify and reduce the colour intensity of fats and edible oil. This study was conducted in two stages. The first involved the characterization of activated bentonite clay (moisture content and bulk density determination) and choosing an effect on acid-activated bleaching earth performance by considering the significant parameters, which are sulfuric acid concentration (1, 3, 5M), bleaching time (25, 40 and 60min) and dosage of acid-activated bleaching earth per millilitre of impure edible oil (1.5, 4.5, 6g). The raw bentonite clay acquired from Afar Bentonite Mineral Mining Plc. was activated by diluted sulfuric acid at a temperature of 90℃, neutralized, and the impure edible oil was prepared. A 3M acid concentration at a bleaching time of 40 min and 4.5 g of acid-activated bleaching earth dosage resulted in the highest percentage of colour reduction, which was 97%. In general, the findings of this study support the notion that bentonite clay is an effective adsorbent for edible oil bleaching. This study has strengthened the idea that acid-activated bentonite can eliminate pigments that are the result of different impurities, while also reducing the health impact of unqualified edible oil products.

Abstract

Climate is an important factor in the growth and productivity of coffee plants. This research aims to determine the climate conditions regarding the use of shade on the development and productivity of coffee plants. This observation was carried out on agroforestry coffee plantations in Kare District, Madiun Regency. The coffee plants observed were 4 to 6 years old, and the shade used in the observations was Gamal, Dadap, and Sengon trees. Thus, based on the results of observations carried out over four months, it was found that the highest results were in Sengon stands, with an average of 27.2-27.7°C in January and March in terms of air temperature. Meanwhile, the highest observed humidity occurred in the first month and January at 76%. The highest wind speed occurs in April at 4 -5 km/hour. The highest intensity of light produced occurs in April at 8005 LUX. The results of these observations prove that the use of shade plants does not significantly affect the production and growth of coffee plants.

Abstract

Sorghum, a drought-resistant cereal crop, has great potential to support food security in North Sumatra. To optimize its utilization, identification and characterization of local sorghum varieties are needed. Identification of local sorghum plants is an important step in efforts to optimize the utilization of plants that are useful for helping to document and preserve biodiversity, can help reveal hidden potential, so that superior varieties can be developed. Farmers can choose the varieties that best suit their agronomic conditions and needs so that they can help open up new opportunities for product development and downstreaming of sorghum, thereby increasing its economic value. By developing and utilizing local sorghum varieties, Indonesia can reduce dependence on food imports and strengthen its food sovereignty Data collection was carried out from August to December 2022 in several regencies/cities in North Sumatra based on information sources from the agricultural service, farmer groups and communities who know about sorghum cultivation. This study aims to collect soil samples in sorghum plantations in various regions in North Sumatra. The soil nutrients in local sorghum growing locations vary, in terms of soil pH content, almost all locations fall into the acid criteria, the soil N content falls into the low criteria, and the soil P content is very low.

Abstract

Building contracting is an act in which one party gives work to another party as a contractor to complete a building. Obstacles in practice in the field often occur so that there is a discrepancy in the agreement that has been agreed between the parties. To protect the parties, a building contracting agreement is needed so that there is a binding between the two parties. If one party cannot fulfill the performance (default) according to the agreed agreement, then the party who does not receive the performance from the other party can file an objection or even a lawsuit in court if no peace is reached between the parties. A contracting agreement is a reciprocal agreement between rights and obligations, in which there is an agreement between one party, namely the contractor, who binds himself to carry out the work, while the other party who contracts, binds himself to pay a predetermined price. With research that uses a normative legal approach, this study aims to determine the legal consequences of default for contractors in a house building contracting agreement.
