Abstract

This study aims to analyze the selection and performance evaluation strategies of Indonesian Hajj officers by the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The selection process is carried out through administrative stages, computer-based tests (CAT), and panel interviews. Performance evaluation is carried out from the training stage to the implementation of tasks in Saudi Arabia through direct supervision and daily reporting. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with interviews, documentation, and participatory observation. The results indicate that the success of selection and evaluation is determined by system integration, individual competence, and institutional support. However, there are still challenges such as disparities in training quality between regions, limitations in the digital system, and the absence of standardized and measurable performance indicators. This study recommends the development of national competency standards, strengthening the performance management information system, and the implementation of Balanced Scorecard-based indicators. This study is expected to provide strategic input for policymakers in improving the quality of Hajj services and enriching academic literature on human resource management in the religious sector.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for goods delivery at PT Tustika Nagata, a logistics company based in Surabaya, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research utilized data collection techniques including interviews, field observations, and documentation review. Findings indicate that the current SOP implementation still faces challenges such as late submission of delivery notes, delayed vehicle returns, discrepancies in spare part expense reporting, and inadequate vehicle maintenance by drivers. Internal constraints include a lack of discipline among operational staff and insufficient SOP enforcement, while external factors involve limited integration of technology in logistics processes. The study emphasizes the importance of well- structured SOPs in improving administrative accuracy, vehicle rotation efficiency, and financial accountability. Based on the analysis, recommendations include enhancing employee discipline, refining SOP content, digitizing logistics workflows, and providing routine training. These improvements are expected to increase the operational efficiency and reliability of PT Tustika Nagata’s delivery system in supporting seamless logistics performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of internal and external factors on the entrepreneurial interest of Fashion Design students at Pencawan Vocational High School, Medan. The study used a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression. The research sample was 32 grade XI students selected through total sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire whose validity and reliability had been tested. The results showed that internal factors contributed positively but not significantly to entrepreneurial interest (t = 1.121; Sig. = 0.272), while external factors had a significant influence (t = 2.751; Sig. = 0.010). Simultaneous tests showed that both factors together had a significant influence on entrepreneurial interest (F = 7.862; Sig. = 0.002), with external factors being more dominant (β = 0.704) than internal factors (β = 0.270). Thus, family, school, and environmental support play a greater role in increasing students' entrepreneurial interest, while internal factors function as supporting capital.

CV Borong Persada is a company engaged in the field of construction and procurement of goods and services. Its main focus is to cooperate with various government agencies related to the procurement of goods and services. This study aims to determine and obtain a descriptive picture of Public relations strategies in building Brand awareness. This research uses the concept of Public relations mix strategy from the development of Thomas L. Harris, namely the Public relations mix strategy consisting of PENCILS components. Information collection techniques are in-depth interviews, observations, literature studies and other data sources. Using the post-positivist paradigm and descriptive qualitative approach, the results showed that CV Borong Persada successfully implemented PENCILS and received a positive response from the public, but there needs to be a more presentative and planned Public relations strategy in order to gain greater power and increase Brand awareness of this company. This study contributes to the existing knowledge on Public relations and Brand awareness, as well as providing practical insights for organizations looking to improve their brand reputation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the background of the resolution of the South China Sea conflict between the Republic of the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China through the Permanent Court of Arbitration. This thesis is grounded in a fundamental framework of thought that combines international security theory and international legal theory. In searching for data sources, the researcher employed a qualitative method. The results of this study explain that the international arbitration decision confirms that the islands claimed by China do not meet the requirements for a right to an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) or a wide continental shelf. The Philippines is considered the rightful owner of the area included in its exclusive economic zone in accordance with UNCLOS. In addition, this decision emphasizes that China’s actions in building islands and placing infrastructure in the disputed area violate the rights of the Philippines and the principles of international law. In addition, based on the author’s interviews with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the results indicate that the South China Sea conflict between the Chinese and Philippine governments is a latent issue that is very difficult to resolve.

Abstract

Sustainable tourism plays a strategic role as a catalyst for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia, particularly in promoting economic growth and decent work. This study analyzes the impact of several factors namely, the number of tourists, tourism investment, tourism foreign exchange, and the average length of tourist stays on the achievement of the SDGs in Indonesia. It utilizes secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, covering the period from 2000 to 2023. The data analysis employs multiple linear regression, along with classical assumption testing and statistical hypothesis testing. The results indicate that both the number of tourists and domestic tourism investment positively influence the achievement of the SDGs in Indonesia. This suggests that sustainable tourism development can create decent jobs and enhance the income of local communities. Moreover, tourism has the potential to drive regional economic growth, which can subsequently contribute to national economic growth

Abstract

Small and medium business (SMEs) are vulnerable to fraud especially when they have informal processes, unrecorded operating processes, and poor internal controls. The paper will explore the business processes within PT Global Intan Teknido (GIT), a small distributor of industrial instruments, in an attempt to identify areas vulnerable to fraud and develop a suitable fraud prevention system. The qualitative exploratory case study took place through the use of in- depth interviews, first hand observation and analysis of documents of the owner, the sales and finance employees and the customers and the vendors. Business Process Mapping (BPM) was used to represent the As-Is workflow, Fraud Triangle Theory to help evaluate the behavioral drivers, benchmarking to compare practices with others of similar companies, and Fraud Risk Management (FRM) framework as the foundation of creating a Stop-Loss System. The results demonstrate the risk of fraud based on the undocumented requests to personal WhatsApp accounts, the lack of documentation regarding the communication with vendors, issuing quotations not related to the system, purchase orders made not in the system, the creation of the invoice by sales employees, and payment made by customers to personal bank accounts. Opportunity was the prevailing determinant as shown by Fraud Triangle analysis and reinforced by the sales pressure and rationalization pertaining to speed and customer demands. Benchmarking confirms that systemized documentation and systems of multi-level approval of documents will make the fraud exposure significantly less. This paper is informed by these points, hence the proposal of an FRM-based Stop-Loss System, which is comprised of preventive, detective, and corrective controls. The research increases the body of literature on SME fraud prevention through proving the possibility of combining business process analysis and FRM in developing an effective and resource-friendly control mechanism applied to small businesses.
