Abstract

Wastewater from catfish farming comes from leftover feed and feces that contain organic and inorganic materials. The wastewater from catfish farming has an organic C content of 0.06-0.62%; N 0.49-1.32%; F 0.06-0.35%; K 0.22-4.97% and pH 5.67-8.00. This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from catfish farming waste on the growth of rubber seedlings and to identify the effective concentration of POC that influences the growth of rubber seedlings. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) non-factorial consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications for a total of 25 experimental units, with each unit containing 3 samples, resulting in a total of 75 samples. The treatments were L0: 0 mL L-1, L1: 150 mL L-1, L2: 250 mL L-1, L3: 350 mL L-1, L4: 450 mL L-1. The results showed that a concentration of 150 mL L-1 was able to enhance stem diameter, and a concentration of 250 mL L-1 was able to increase plant height. A concentration of 350 mL L-1 is able to increase the number of umbrellas and the wet weight of the seedlings, and the dry weight of rubber seedlings will increase when given POC with a concentration of 450 mL L-1.

Abstract

The productivity of rubber plants in Indonesia is relatively low, so efforts to increase productivity need to be made, one of which is by improving cultivation technology, the limitation of nutrients in the soil of former gold mines is overcome by providing vegetable waste compost. Vegetable waste compost has a C-organic content of 28.89%, N 1.57%, P 1.39%, K 0.69%. This study aims to determine the effect of vegetable waste compost on the growth of rubber seedlings on the soil of former gold mining land. The research was conducted at the Sukaharja Experiment Garden, Gg. Pandan, from April to July 2024. The study used a non-factorial Complete Random Design (RAL) consisting of 5 groups and 5 replicates, there were 25 experimental units, each experiment consisted of 3 samples so that the total number of samples was 75 samples. The parameters observed were the height of the seedlings, the diameter of the stems, the number of umbrellas, and the dry weight of the seedlings. The data is statistically analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if obtained has a real effect, then the Duncan Multi Range Test (DMRT) is continued at the level of 5%. The results of the fingerprint showed that the treatment of vegetable waste composting had a real influence on the variables of seedling height, stem diameter, number of umbrellas, and root volume. The results of the DMRT test at 5% level show that treatment with a dose of vegetable waste compost of 640 g/polybag is able to provide good growth for the growth of rubber seedlings.

Abstract

Podzolic red-yellow soil has the potential for the development of plantation crops. Efforts to improve thefertility of Podzolic red-yellow soil include the application of both inorganic and organic fertilizers.Rubber plants are one of the important plantation crops in Indonesia. Rubber seedling is a crucial stagethat significantly determines latex production. Excessive use of inorganic fertilizers can have a negativeimpact on the environment, especially water pollution, thus it needs to be substituted with organicfertilizers. The aim of this research is to find the lowest dose of Azolla pinnata compost that providesgrowth equivalent to a dose of NPK 20 grams/polybag. This study used a completely randomized design(CRD) non-factorial with 6 treatments consisting of control: NPK 20 g/polybag, P1: Azolla pinnatacompost 100 g/polybag, P2: Azolla pinnata compost 200 g/polybag, P3: Azolla pinnata compost 300g/polybag, P4: Azolla pinnata compost 400 g/polybag, P5: Azolla pinnata compost 500 g/polybag. Eachtreatment was repeated four times. The observed parameters are seedling height, stem diameter, leaf chlorophyll, and seedling dry weight. The obtained data were analyzed using variance analysis, and ifthere was a significant effect, a difference test was conducted using LSD (Least Significant Difference) ata 5% level. The research results showed that the treatment of 200 grams/polybag was the lowest dose thatprovided growth equal to NPK 20 grams/polybag in the parameters of plant height, stem diameter, number of umbrellas, and dry weight of rubber seedlings. The use of Azolla pinnata compost startingfrom 200 grams/polybag can already replace NPK 20 grams for rubber seedling cultivation, especially inPMK soil.

Abstract

Golden apple snails are pests and can be processed into liquid organic fertilizer due to their ability to improve soil quality and provide nutrients to plants. Golden apple snails contain compounds that can be used as plant nutrients, including the amino acid tryptophan, phosphorus (P), and calcium (Ca), making them suitable raw materials for liquid organic fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the effect and optimal dosage of golden apple snail POC on rubber seedling growth in peat media. The study was conducted from March to June 2024 at the Tempurukan Village experimental garden. The study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Each treatment consisted of 4 plants, resulting in 80 experimental units. Observation parameters included plant height (cm), number of umbrellas (stalks), stem diameter (cm), root length (cm), and plant dry weight (g). Data analysis used ANOVA and a 5% DMRT follow-up test using the DSAASTAT application. The results showed that golden apple snail POC application significantly affected plant height, stem diameter, number of umbrellas, root length, and dry weight of rubber plants. A dose of 40 golden apple snail POC per plant was the best treatment for increasing rubber seedling growth, with an average seedling height of 63.12 cm, stem diameter of 0.44 cm, number of parasols of 3, root length of 54.50 cm, and plant dry weight of 10.14 g.

Abstract

Coffee is a plantation commodity with significant economic value in Indonesia and globally. Efforts to increase nutrient availability and improve the chemical properties of alluvial soil require the addition of liquid organic fertilizer made from rice straw waste. This study aimed to determine the effect of applying liquid organic fertilizer (POC) made from rice straw waste on the growth of Robusta coffee seedlings in alluvial soil. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments. Each treatment had five replications, resulting in 25 experimental units, each consisting of three plant samples, for a total of 75 samples. The treatments were: K0: No POC Application, K1: Concentration 200 mL/L, K2: Concentration 250 mL/L, K3: Concentration 300 mL/L, and K4: Concentration 350 mL/L. The data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If a significant effect was found, the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used at the 5% level. Rice straw waste organic fertilizer (POC) at a concentration of 250 mL was the best for increasing leaf number, root length, and plant dry weight. Rice straw waste organic fertilizer at a concentration of 300 mL was the best for increasing plant height and leaf width. Meanwhile, rice straw waste organic fertilizer at a concentration of 350 mL was the best for increasing stem diameter.
