Abstract

The use of peat media for coffee cultivation needs to be considered because peat soil has problems such as low soil pH and low nutrient content. Using rice straw compost is an alternative for increasing nutrient levels in peat soil. Rice straw compost contains 0.5-0.8% nitrogen, 0.07-0.12% phosphorus, 1.2-1.7% potassium and 7% silicon. This research aims to determine the best dose of rice straw compost so that it can increase the growth of Liberica coffee seedlings in peat media. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were K₀: without rice straw compost, K₁: 150 g/plant K₂: 175 g/plant, K₃: 200 g/plant, K₄: 225 g/plant. The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, root length and plant dry weight. The research data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Data that had a real effect were further tested using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The application of rice straw compost in peat media had a significant effect on the growth of seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, root length and dry weight of Liberica coffee seedlings. Rice straw compost at a dose of 225 g/plant applied in peat media is the best dose because it increases the vegetative growth of Liberica coffee seedlings.

Abstract

The use of organic fertilizer can have a positive impact on the environment and plants so it has great potential for use in plant cultivation. This research aims to determine the interaction and appropriate dosage between the combination of water hyacinth compost and fish waste poc on the growth of coffee seedlings (Coffea sp.) in sub-soil. This research used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 9 treatments and 3 replications. The first factor is water hyacinth compost which consists of 3 levels, namely: K0: Without water hyacinth compost K1: Water hyacinth compost with a dose of 50 g/plant K2: Water hyacinth compost with a dose of 75 g/plant. The second factor is the POC of fish waste which consists of three levels, namely: PO: No POC of fish internal organ waste P1: POC of fish internal organ waste with a concentration of 3 mL, P2: POC of fish internal organ waste with a concentration of 5 mL. Data obtained from research results were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA). If the data obtained has a real effect, then continue with the Duncan Multi Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The research results showed that the interaction between the combination of water hyacinth compost and fish waste POC occurred on all observation parameters. The significant influence on all observation parameters of coffee seedlings was thought to be caused by the performance of the two treatment factors which supported each other. The best dose of the combination of water hyacinth compost and fish waste POC for the growth of coffee seedlings was found in treatment K2 (75g water hyacinth compost/plant) P2 (5 ml fish waste POC/plant).

Abstract

Cocoa is a type of tree that originates from South America and is now widely cultivated in other countries, including Indonesia. In certain areas in Indonesia, quality land has begun to decrease. An alternative that can be utilized is the use of Red Yellow Podsolic (PMK) soil to plant cocoa. One effort to increase soil productivity and increase the organic matter content in PMK soil is by adding coconut pulp compost as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers. This study aims to determine the effect of giving coconut pulp compost on the growth of cocoa seedlings and what is the best dose of coconut pulp compost that affects the growth of cocoa seedlings in PMK media. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each treatment consisted of 3 samples so that 75 plant samples were obtained. The treatments were: B0: without coconut pulp compost (0 g/polybag), B1: coconut pulp compost dose of 200 g/polybag, B2: coconut pulp compost 250 g/polybag, B3: coconut pulp compost 300 g/polybag, B4: coconut pulp compost 350 g/polybag. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and further tested by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. Based on the analysis of variance, the provision of coconut pulp compost had a significant effect on seedling height (20.60 cm), dry weight of the shoot (1.61 g), and dry weight of the roots (0.41 g) which could increase the growth of cocoa seedlings. The best treatment was the provision of coconut pulp compost dose of 350 (g/polybag).

Abstract

Coffee is one of the mainstay commodities in the Indonesian plantation sector. To encourage plant growth and improve the quality of coffee plants, Photosynthetic Bacteria (PSB) are applied, which are autotrophic bacteria that can photosynthesize. Providing PSB to the soil can help increase soil fertility, accelerate plant growth, physiologically active compounds and polysaccharides. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and best concentration of Photosynthetic Bacteria (PSB) on the growth of robusta coffee plants (Coffea canephora) in Ultisol soil. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications so that there were 25 experimental units, where each experimental unit consisted of 3 seed samples so that the total number was 75 seed samples. The treatments were P0: soil media without PSB, P1: Concentration 25 ml/L P2: Concentration 50 ml/L, P3: Concentration 75 ml/L, P4: Concentration 100 ml/L. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variances (ANOVA). If there is a significant effect, it will be continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the provision of Photosynthetic Bacteria (PSB) had a significant effect in increasing the growth of robusta coffee plants (Coffea canephora) in ultisol soil media on soil pH parameters, plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, root length, and dry weight of plants. The best concentration of Photosynthetic Bacteria (PSB) administration on the growth of robusta coffee plants (Coffea canephora) aged 12 MST in the P2 treatment was a concentration of 50 ml/L with a soil pH of 6.02, plant height of 12.88 cm, stem diameter of 1.41 mm, number of leaves 6 strands, root length 12.07 cm and dry weight 0.35 g.

Abstract

Most of the people in Delta Pawan District are farmers and breeders. The number of agricultural business households in Delta Pawan District is 354 cultivating food crops, 640 cultivating horticultural crops and 786 breeders. This shows that the availability of raw materials for making organic fertilizers is very abundant. The problem that has occurred until now is that the waste from agricultural and livestock products has not been utilized optimally by the community due to limited tools and knowledge in processing it into organic fertilizer. The purpose of this activity is to provide motivation and knowledge to the residents of Kalinilam village to utilize agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer which is abundantly available. The method used to overcome these problems is to provide training to Kalinilam villagers on how to process agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer using a compost chopper. This service activity will be carried out in July 2024 with 2 stages, namely socialization and counseling as well as training and assistance in making compost. The result of the service of this training program is an increase in the knowledge of villagers about processing agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer so that it can increase the utilization of waste into more useful products
