The objective of the research was to investigate the effect of applying dictoglossteaching strategy on the students? achievement recount text. The objective of thestudy was to investigate wheter dictogloss strategy significantly effect on thestudents achievement in writing recount text. Dictogloss teaching strategy helps the students to write independently and this strategy would help the students to find their own topic and ideas about what they would write. The population was the 2015/2016 students of SMA AR-RAHMAN MEDAN which consisted of 60 students in two classes. They were divided into two groups: 30students for experimental group then 30 students for control group. The experimental group was given treatment by dictogloss teaching strategy and control group was taught by analysis control model. The instrument of the reseach was an written test. To know the students? achievement in writing there were some criteria as follows: Content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanics. The t-test, formula was implemented to find out the t-observed value of both groups as the basis to test hypotesis of this reseach. The result ofthis reseach showed that the t-observed value was greater than the t-table in which tobs was 2.40 and ttable 1.6. It shows that tobsttable (2.40 1.6). The hypotesis was accepted. It means that there was any significant effect ofapplying dictogloss teaching strategy on the students? achievement in writing recount text.

This research dealt with the analysis of writing standard in English textbook for Senior High School grade X. It was intended to investigate the writing standard realized within the English textbook. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method. The data involved the contents of English textbook taken from the materials written in English textbook entitles Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X published by Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan, Balitbang, Kemendikbud in 2017. The data collected were analyzed based on Miles and Hubermann (2014) analysis model including data reduction, data display and conclusion. The research findings from the analysis showed that the textbook Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X published by Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan, Balitbang, Kemendikbud in 2017 did not fulfill all of the textbook writing standard criteria (textbook evaluation) as proposed by Cunningsworth (1995). The eight criteria with forty-five detail criteria of textbook writing standard criteria (textbook evaluation), there were only twenty-nine detail criteria were fully completed by the textbook, while fifteen others were not fully fulfilled, and one was unfulfilled. So, it was concluded that the English textbook of Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas X published by Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan, Balitbang, Kemendikbud in 2017 had not been included into very good standard of textbook writing.

This study deals with the Language Variation found in The Interaction between buyer-seller at Traditional Market. The objective of this study was to describe (1) The types of language variation between buyer-seller in dialogue interaction at Traditional Market and to identify (2)The factors that influence language variation between buyer-seller in dialogue interaction at Traditional Market. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative method, where data is collected through recording techniques and note-taking techniques in the form of accurate conversation sin accordance with the natural characteristics of the informant sand then transcribed by the researcher in the form of text.The findings of research his the variations found in the interaction of buyers and sellers in traditional markets are variations in terms of speakers such as dialect;variations interms of usage,namely registers;variations in terms of formality such as casual style; as well as variations in terms of facilities, namely the oral style. This is dueto several factors found in the data namely,age, social status and gender.

This research was aimed at investigate: (1) the types of deixis used in Covid-19 in The Jakarta Post online-articles; (2) the types of references used by the deixis found in Covid-19 news in The Jakarta Post online-articles. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were the sentences in Covid-19 articles which contained deixis. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Hubermans theory which consisted of data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion. The result of this research showed that: (1) there were five types of deixis used in The Jakarta Post online-articles about Covid-19 news. They were person deixis, time deixis, place deixis, discourse deixis and social deixis; (2) there were two types of references used by the deixis found in Covid-19 news of The Jakarta Post news, namely: anaphoric and cataphoric references.

This research aimed to discover (1) the kinds of unnatural Indonesian-English translation of public signs in Medan city; (2) To investigate the appropriate techniques to avoid the unnatural Indonesian-English translation of public signs in Medan city. This research was done by applying descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were Indonesian-English public signs found in Medan city. The data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman. The findings of this research showed that: (1) there were four kinds of unnatural translation found in Indonesian-English translation of public signs in Medan city. They were spelling mistakes, change or loss information, grammatical mistakes and inappropriate choice of words; (2) There were some techniques can be used to avoid the unnatural translation found in Indonesian-English translation of public signs in Medan city. They were borrowing, adaptation, and transposition technique.

The aim of the study is to investigate the meaning of hyperbole expression and todescribe the realization of hyperbola expression on the Jokowi political speech.Descriptive qualitative research was applied this study. The data that used in thisresearch was the transripct of Jokowi?s political speech (Jokowis Political SpeechatA PECCEOSUMMIT 2014, Asian-African Conference Commemoration(AACC) 2015, Indonesian Presidential Election 2019, and General Debate of the75th Session United Nations General Assembly 2020). The source of data were taken from website Cabinet Secretariat ofthe Republic of Indonesia. From the data analysis, it was found 12 expressions used hyperbole in the Jokowi transcript speech. 4 hyperboles in APECCEOSUMMIT 2014, 4 hyperboles in Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC) 2015, 3 hyperboles in Indonesian Presidential Election 2019, and 1 hyperbole in General Debate of the 75th Session United Nations General Assembly 2020. The meaning of each hyperbole have adifferent meaning for different purposes. The hyperbole can be realized through 3 type sofword classes usedas word choices.3 hyperboles as adjective,5 hyper boles as noun, and 4 hyper boleas verb.

The objective of thisresearch was to investigate the effect of applying 3-2-1 strategy on students reading comprehension of narrative text.This research applie dex perimental research. Population of this research is taken from eight grade of SMP Cerdas Murni Tembung academic year 2019/2020 with the total population 367 students. The researcher just took two class as the sample. The sample was taken byusing purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 38 students in classVIII-2. The experimental group was taught by applying 3-2-1 strategy on students reading comprehension of narrative text. While in class VIII-1 group sare taught using traditional methods in reading comprehension. The instruments of collecting data was multiple choice test which consisted of 20 items. The experimental group was given pre-test and post-test. After the data had been collected, these were analyzed by using t-test formula.Theres ulto fanalys is showed that-observe (to=5.929) was higher than t-table with the level of significant ?= 2,024. The final hyphothesis showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It means that therewas a significant effect of applying 3-2-1 strategy on students reading comprehension of narrative text.

This research was aimed to find out the main character conflict in the "1917" movie by analyzing the evidence from the dialogues and his actions in the film. And to know what the conflict in the main character of Schofield. Qualitative method was used in this research. The reseacheremployedherself to collect the data by reading script, watching the film and marking them. The reseacherused the "1917" movie by Sam Mandes released in 2019. In this analysis, the reseacherfound out about the conflict of Schofield as main character. Schofield faced two conflicts, namely Internal conflicts and external conflicts. Schofield is young soldier from England tasked with delivering a message to prevent more soldiers from falling. From the research conducted, the researcher found the conflict experienced by Schofield, there were 4 data in Internal conflict and 6 data for external conflict, there is only 1 type of external conflict found,The result of this research was expected to give some contributions to further study of conflict. Based on the result above, It was hoped that the readers can develop and increase knowledge about all the aspect of conflict and the types of conflict in the movie.The researcher hope the result of the research will give additional information, contributions and stimulates the students or readers in studying the literature.

The aim of study is to investigate the kinds of process of experiential function are used in the Miss Universes Speeches 2019, to elaborate the realization of the process of experiential function, and to reason for the used of process of experiential function in the Miss Universes Speeches 2019. This study used descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data. The data was taken from Miss Universes Speeches 2019 script. The script consisted of 8 pages were taken as the data. From the data obtained, it was found that Material process, 66 times (37.71%), Relational process 62 times (36.57%), Mental process 36 times (20.57%), Verbal process 5 times (2.86%), Existential process 3 times (1.71%), and Behavioural process only one time (0.57%). In this research, material process is the most dominantly kinds process of experiential function used by utterances in the Miss Universes Speeches 2019.The kinds process of experiential function because its used for talking about their experiences, the policy in the future. The dominant kinds process of experiential function was material process as the way to persuade, to motivate and convey information or insight the audiences in the Miss Universes Speeches 2019.

The adjective of the research were to find out the types of code mixing and code switching.This research focuses in analysis DyahRoroEstis utterances in Podcast where the channel is Millennial Power which contained code mixing and code switching in the audio as the data of research. This research used Qualitative Content AnalysisDesign. The technique of data analysis used theory of Miles and Huberman that contains data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of this research found that there are three types of code mixing and code switching. Code mixing contained insertion which occured 31 data, alternation 8 data and congruent lexicalization 1 data. Code switching contained tag switching which occured 5 data, intra-sentential switching 43 data and inter-sentential switching 22 data. It was expected that this research helps everyone who wants to know about bilingualism and code mixing and code switching.
