Abstract

Measles, an infectious disease, remains a serious health problem throughout Indonesia. The government has provided an effective and affordable vaccine, but immunization coverage remains low, contributing to the increase and high number of measles cases in Indonesia. One contributing factor is maternal knowledge about immunization and other contributing factors. Health promotion is an effort to improve maternal knowledge. This systematic review aims to find evidence based on published articles related to health promotion and the factors contributing to measles incidence. The criteria for this study were original articles and respondents located in Indonesia, with articles published between 2020 and 2025. The review method used was PRISMA, obtained from databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scient Direct. The review resulted in 15 articles out of 1,223 selected articles. Measles incidence is influenced by maternal factors, child factors, immunization compliance, and promotional media used. Conclusion: The role of health promotion significantly influences individuals' knowledge and decision-making regarding immunization of their children.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous unit that commonly affects adolescents and young adults and can significantly impair quality of life. Recent evidence indicates that acne severity is influenced not only by the presence of Cutibacterium acnes but also by the characteristics of specific bacterial strains, their virulence factors, and interactions within the skin microbiome. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between C. acnes colonization and the severity of acne vulgaris through a narrative literature review. Secondary data were obtained from scientific publications indexed in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and other open-access journal portals. The literature search used keywords including “Cutibacterium acnes,” “acne vulgaris,” “biofilm,” “microbiome,” “strain virulence,” and “antibiotic resistance.” Articles published between 2020 and 2025 in Indonesian or English were included. Ten studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using narrative synthesis. The findings indicate that pathogenic phylotypes, particularly IA1 and IC, are more frequently associated with moderate to severe inflammatory acne lesions. These strains demonstrate higher virulence through increased lipase and porphyrin production, strong biofilm formation, and activation of inflammatory pathways such as TLR2-mediated cytokine release. Additionally, microbiome dysbiosis and rising antibiotic resistance to clindamycin and macrolides contribute to persistent inflammation and treatment challenges. Overall, acne severity is influenced more by strain characteristics and microbial interactions than by bacterial quantity alone, highlighting the importance of strain-level analysis and precision-based therapeutic strategies in acne management.

Abstract

Senile cataract is a degenerative ocular condition characterized by lens opacity that leads to progressive visual impairment and remains the leading cause of blindness globally, particularly in developing countries. Aging is the primary cause, while systemic conditions such as hypertension significantly accelerate cataract formation through oxidative stress and metabolic disruption in the lens. This study employed a descriptive literature-based approach by reviewing relevant scientific articles, clinical reports, and epidemiological data related to cataract pathophysiology, risk factors, classification, diagnosis, and management, with emphasis on the role of hypertension and surgical interventions. The findings indicate that cataractogenesis is multifactorial, involving protein aggregation, lens hydration, and oxidative damage. Hypertension contributes through inflammatory pathways and impaired ion transport in lens epithelial cells. Cataracts are classified based on age of onset, morphology, and etiology, with senile cataracts being the most prevalent. Clinical manifestations include blurred vision, glare, and gradual vision loss. Diagnostic approaches include visual acuity testing and slit-lamp examination. Surgical management, particularly phacoemulsification and delayed sequential bilateral cataract surgery (DSBCS), provides effective visual restoration with minimal complications. Senile cataracts significantly impact quality of life, and hypertension is an important modifiable risk factor. Early detection, risk control, and appropriate surgical intervention are essential to prevent blindness and improve patient outcomes.

Abstract

Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal complaint, especially in individuals who engage in activities involving prolonged static body positions. In addition to physical factors, psychological factors such as stress can also influence the onset of neck pain. Stress can increase muscle tension and modulate pain perception, potentially worsening neck complaints. This study aims to examine the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of neck pain through a systematic literature review. The literature search was conducted in March 2026 through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar with publications spanning 2021–2026. The selected articles were peer-reviewed studies relevant to the topic. Based on the PRISMA flow, five articles met the criteria for in-depth analysis. The results of the study indicate that individuals with higher stress levels tend to experience more severe neck pain. Influencing factors include muscle tension, changes in pain perception, non-ergonomic posture, and psychosocial factors such as academic pressure and workload. In conclusion, stress can significantly influence the onset of neck pain. These findings emphasize the importance of understanding the relationship between psychological and physical factors, such as stress management, posture, and ergonomics education, as a basis for designing more effective neck pain prevention strategies.

Abstract

Eclampsia is a serious obstetric complication characterized by seizures in pregnant or postpartum women with preeclampsia and remains a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, particularly in developing countries. Management of eclampsia focuses on the prevention and control of seizures using anticonvulsants, with diazepam and magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄) being the most commonly used drugs. However, the efficacy and safety of these two agents show significant differences. This literature review aims to compare the effectiveness of diazepam and magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄) in patients with eclampsia in terms of seizure prevention, maternal mortality, and maternal and neonatal outcomes. This study employed a literature review design using a narrative review approach. Literature searches were conducted via PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, PLOS ONE, BMC, Cureus, and SINTA using keywords related to eclampsia, magnesium sulfate, and diazepam. Relevant research articles from 2020–2025 and textbooks from 2015–2025 were analyzed narratively based on methodological quality and topic relevance. Most studies indicate that MgSO₄ is more effective than diazepam in preventing recurrent seizures, reducing maternal mortality, and yielding better maternal and neonatal outcomes. Diazepam is associated with lower efficacy and a higher risk of adverse effects. Major barriers to the use of MgSO₄ include resource constraints and the readiness of healthcare facilities. Magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄) is the first-line therapy and the gold standard in the management of eclampsia. Strengthening policies, improving the competence of healthcare workers, and ensuring the availability of MgSO₄ must be prioritized to reduce maternal mortality due to eclampsia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of administrative service speed, accuracy of administrative information, as well as the attitude and friendliness of administrative staff on patient satisfaction at Ibnu Sina Hospital, Makassar. Registration administrative services represent the patient’s initial contact with the hospital; therefore, their quality plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions of service quality and patient satisfaction levels. The method used was a quantitative approach involving 100 patient respondents who utilized registration administrative services, including both outpatient and inpatient care. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using the Multiple Step Interval (MSI) method. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. All 60 items were found to be valid and reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values ranging from 0.88 to 0.90. The research model met classical assumptions, namely normally distributed residuals (Asymp. Sig. 0.200), no multicollinearity (VIF < 1.50), no heteroscedasticity (Sig. > 0.34), and no autocorrelation (Durbin–Watson = 1.928).The results indicate that, partially, the speed of administrative service has a significant positive effect on patient satisfaction (β = 0.287; t = 3.842; Sig. 0.000), the accuracy of administrative information has a significant positive effect and is the most dominant variable (β = 0.314; t = 4.215; Sig. 0.000), and the attitude and friendliness of administrative staff have a significant positive effect on patient satisfaction (β = 0.298; t = 3.991; Sig. 0.000). Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence patient satisfaction (F = 59.102; Sig. 0.000) with a contribution of 71.6% (R² = 0.716). The conclusion indicates that the speed of administrative service, the accuracy of administrative information, as well as the attitude and friendliness of administrative staff fall into the good to high categories and have a significant effect, both partially and simultaneously, on patient satisfaction at Ibnu Sina Hospital in Makassar, with the accuracy of administrative information being the most dominant factor.

Abstract

Breast cancer occurring during pregnancy, or pregnancy-associated breast cancer (PABC), is a rare condition but presents complex diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Physiological changes in the breast during pregnancy can mask early signs of malignancy, leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment. To report a case of suspected breast cancer in a pregnant patient and discuss its clinical characteristics, investigations, and management. This case report is based on the history, physical examination, laboratory tests, and ultrasound of a 37-year-old female patient, 24 weeks pregnant, who presented with a right breast lump. The patient presented with a right breast mass with ulceration measuring more than 5 cm in diameter, accompanied by enlarged axillary lymph nodes. Laboratory examinations revealed anemia and leukocytosis. Ultrasonography revealed an irregular, hypoechoic lesion with a BIRADS classification of 5, suggestive of malignancy. The working diagnosis was a right breast ulcer with suspicion of breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer during pregnancy is crucial to prevent delayed diagnosis and improve prognosis. A multidisciplinary approach to management is essential to ensure the safety of both mother and fetus

Abstract

The development of information technology in the healthcare sector has driven the digital transformation of hospital services, including outpatient care. Service digitalization such as online registration, electronic queue systems, and electronic medical records is expected to improve service flow efficiency and reduce patient waiting time. This study aims to empirically analyze the effect of outpatient service digitalization on the waiting time of Diabetes Mellitus patients at Royal Prima General Hospital Medan. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 2,940 outpatient Diabetes Mellitus patients, with a sample of 352 respondents determined using the Slovin formula and simple consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires to measure the level of service digitalization and observation of patient waiting time. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that most outpatient service digitalization was categorized as good, and most patient waiting times were within the standard of ≤60 minutes. Bivariate analysis indicated a significant effect between outpatient service digitalization and waiting time of Diabetes Mellitus patients (p-value < 0.05). Outpatient service digitalization at Royal Prima General Hospital Medan has been generally well implemented and significantly influences the waiting time of Diabetes Mellitus patients. The better the implementation of digitalization, the shorter the waiting time experienced by patients. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the achievement of patient safety goals in independent midwifery practice, focusing on the roles of knowledge, attitude, practice, and motivation, as well as the mediating effect of motivation. Patient safety is a critical aspect of healthcare services, and midwives play a vital role in its implementation. Using a quantitative approach, this research involved 163 respondents consisting of independent midwives and pregnant women in Tangerang Regency. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that knowledge did not have a significant direct effect on patient safety goals, while attitude and practice significantly influenced their achievement, with practice being the most dominant factor. Motivation also did not directly affect patient safety goals but was found to significantly mediate the relationship between knowledge and practice on patient safety goals, while it did not mediate the effect of attitude. Based on these findings, it is recommended that future research explores additional variables such as organizational support and workload, applies longitudinal and qualitative approaches, and expands the study area to provide a more comprehensive understanding of factors affecting patient safety in independent midwifery practice.
