Abstract

Facial wash is a major need of the community because it is very helpful in removing dirt, dust, dead skin cells, oil, residual cosmetics and provides moisture to the skin. In general, the face wash used by the community is classified as a synthetic product that can damage the skin, one alternative to avoid this by using natural ingredients such as essential oils. Essential oils have many benefits, including as anti-acne, antibacterial, and antioxidant. Therefore, a systematic review was conducted regarding the formulation of essential oils as a face wash that can be a reference in future research. The systematic review method was carried out by collecting data from various literature sources obtained from several research journals that have been published both nationally and internationally accredited reviewing face wash cosmetics containing essential oils. Based on the systematic review, it was found that there are several face wash formulations containing essential oils of patchouli oil, tea tree oil, jasmine oil, cinnamon oil, black cumin seed oil, basil oil, ylang-ylang oil, peppermint oil, turmeric oil, lemongrass oil, lavender oil, and tangerine oil.

Abstract

This literature review aims to investigate and analyze the therapeutic effect of Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemon cablin) in alleviating eczema symptoms in infants and young children. Eczema is a common skin condition characterized by inflammation, itching, and redness that can significantly affect the quality of life of affected children and their families. Conventional treatments often use topical corticosteroids, which can have potential side effects. This review systematically examines relevant studies, articles, and research from reputable databases, focusing on the use of patchouli essential oil as an alternative therapeutic approach to treat eczema symptoms in the pediatric population. Several aspects are considered, including the chemical composition of patchouli essential oil, its potential mechanisms of action, and its reported efficacy in reducing inflammation and relieving itching associated with eczema. The results of the literature review suggest that patchouli essential oil possesses anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties that may contribute to its therapeutic effect in the treatment of eczema. Several studies have reported positive results, including a reduction in erythema, itching, and overall severity of eczema symptoms in infants and young children. However, the literature also has some limitations, such as the lack of standardized protocols, varying study designs, and limited long-term follow-up data. Overall, this literature review provides valuable insights into the therapeutic effects of patchouli essential oil in alleviating eczema symptoms in infants and young children. Further well-designed studies are needed to determine the optimal dosage, formulation, and long-term safety profile. The results of this review contribute to the growing body of knowledge on alternative treatments for pediatric eczema and provide a foundation for future research and clinical applications in this area.

Abstract

Free radicals are one of the factors that cause skin problems. Excessive exposure to free radicals can trigger aging, such as sagging of the skin of the lower eyelids which causes a decrease in the periorbital area, known as “eyelid bags”. Changes in the extracellular matrix and loss of the structurally important proteins collagen and elastin lead to loss of structural support and elasticity. Free radical reactions can be prevented by using eye cream. Eye cream is made to get rid of puffiness or dark circles under the eyes. Eye cream is made from a light, easy-to-absorb formula and contains vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin K which are good for skin care and rejuvenation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Gayo avocado oil eyecream formulation with the addition of patchouli leaf essential oil. The method used is experimental from the results of research that has been done before. Then three stages of testing were carried out, namely irritation test, organoleptic test and characteristic observation test. Then, for the test results, a comparison of the first and second formulations was carried out to determine which eye cream is suitable for use as a beauty product

Abstract

Waxing gel is included in cosmetic epilation which can damage the skin barrier. To overcome this, it is necessary to add a composition that can moisturize, prevent irritation, and maximize its lifting power. In minimizing the possibility of irritation, it is necessary to add allantoin to waxing preparations as a calming agent that is safe for sensitive skin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the of Hydroxyl Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) on the resulting waxing gel preparation including aroma, thickness, and maximum hair lift in certain areas of the body and to determine the best HPMC for removing unwanted hair. This type of research is experimental research with independent variables, namely HPMC variations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. The research procedure consists of preparation of tools, preparation of raw materials, and products produced. After that, several panelists made observations by giving questionnaires regarding aroma, viscosity and lifting power. The results showed that there was a comparative effect of the HPMC s used. Based on the observations of several panelists on the aroma, thickness, and lifting power of the waxing gel that has been made, it is known that at the HPMC 0% and 1% HPMC variables, it was found that many panelists stated that the waxing gel in these variables had a fragrant aroma, had a very rich texture. viscous and has very good lifting power compared to waxing gel variables , namely 2% HPMC, 3% HPMC, and 4%.

Abstract

The skin of the  pear (pyrus bretschneideri) contains f  lavonoid compounds which are efficacious as antioxidants,  which are able to inhibit or prevent oxidation of the substrate caused by free radicals. Pear peel extract can  be used as a repellent or antioxidant so that it can be developed into an antioxidant lotion. To maintain the stability of pear peel extract in the form of lotions, it is necessary to formulate appropriate lotions. The purpose of this study was to find out the lotion formulation of the active ingredient oleum rosae to find out the results of the evaluation carried out on the pear peel extract lotion. The method used is experimental using 6 lotion formulations with a concentration of pear peel extract of 3 and 4%, vitamin C variations of 2, 4, and 6%. The results of the lotion from pear peel extract were evaluated for 1 week. Ephysical quality valuation includes organoleptic test, pH test, vit amin C content test. From the results of the study, lotions with the formulation F4 are the best preparations, namely a slightly viscous dosage form, soft texture, white color, oleum rosae fragrance, homogeneous, stable at pH 6 and dispersion power 5-7 cm. The conclusion of the study is that pear peel extract can be made lotion preparations with a wide variety of concentration variations. Keywords: lotion, pear peel (Pyrus bretschneideri), physical quality
