Abstract

Pumpkin seeds are covered by a white husk. Pumpkin seeds are subtly sweet and nutty with a malleable, chewy texture. The seeds of pumpkin are rich in oil and nutrients. Pumpkin seed has been considered as beneficial to health because it contains various biologically active components. It lowers cholesterol level in blood. Drying and roasting are the most important processes giving neccessary alterations to the product.  Roasting can enhance flavour through caramelization on the surface of the food. There was no any research mentioned to varify the change of antioxidant (tocopherol) during infrared drying as well as storage. So the objective of the present study was to identify the effect of temperature in infrared drying, roasting condition, packaging and storage to antioxidant (tocopherol) in the dried Pumpkin (Cucurbita) seed. Results demonstrated that drying temperature (42 oC), roasting (155 oC in 4 min), vaccum packing in polyethylen (PA) bag and keeping in 4 oC were recommended to maintain the tocopherol, total phenolic and antioxidant activity in the final products for 12 weeks. The effect of drying, roasting temperature and time were clearly demonstrated to produced dried roasted pumpkin seed. Keywords: Pumpkin, Drying, Roasting, ANTIOXIDANT, tocopherol, Vaccum.

Abstract

Background: The purpose of the paper is the analysis of scientific and technical information concerning features of using microcapsules in dermal medicinal and cosmetic products, as well as a theoretical study of the effect of carbopol and chitosan on the process of gelatin solvation in microcapsules. An analysis of published data showed urgency of developing dermal medicinal and cosmetic forms using microencapsulation, as well as the prospects for studying the relationship between the material of microcapsules and chemical composition of the drug. Carbopol 940 and chitosan succinate were used as the basic carrier for the developed dosage forms. A statistically significant increase in the solvation level of gelatin in the presence of carbopol at the human body temperature compared to solvation with pure water was established by the molecular dynamics method with the use of the Bio Evrica software. In a similar way, an insignificant effect of the ionized form of chitosan on the level of gelatin solvation was found. Methods: The molecular dynamics simulation was performed with direct account of the solvent molecules, the charges of carbopol and chitosan atoms were calculated previously by abinitio method (6-311G**).Conclusion:  The obtained results show the expediency of using carbopol and chitosan as the basic carrier of external dosage forms with gelatinous microcapsules, since increasing the gelatin solvation level promotes the release of active substance of microcapsules. Keywords: Molecular dynamics, Solvation, Gelatin, Carbopol 940, Chitosan microcapsules, Gel.

Abstract

In the present study, silver nanoparticles were synthesized using Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.) tea as the reducing and capping agent. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV-visible, FT-IR, XRD, and SEM methods. The surface plasmon resonance peaks in absorption spectra for silver colloidal solution showed an absorption peak at 340 nm in a UV-visible spectrum. Several peaks were observed indicating the Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.) tea is composed of various functional groups which include vibration of amine groups responsible for the silver nanoparticles formation were characterized by FT-IR. The XRD results suggested that the crystallization of the bio-organic phase occurs on the surface of the silver nanoparticles or vice versa. The broadening of peaks in the XRD patterns was attributed to particle size effects and the average particles size about 29.15 nm. The silver nanoparticles synthesized by using Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.) tea were scanned using SEM. It reveals that a silver nanoparticle seems to be spherical in morphology. In addition, antimicrobial packaging was prepared by mixing colloidal silver nanoparticles synthesized by Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.) tea with nanocellulose pellicle of Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.) and depositing this hybrid coating (NCP/Ag) as a layer. The NCP/Ag coated layer were then characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), furthermore study their antimicrobial activity. SEM showed deposition of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of NCP and formation of a relatively smooth, dense coating layer on the pellicle surface. The results also demonstrated that the NCP /Ag coating exhibited good antibacterial activity against four Gram-negative and four Gram-positive bacteria which causing burn wounds inflammation. Keywords: Hamza's Khubdat (A.S.), Silver nanoparticles, Nanocellulose pellicle, Antimicrobial activity, pathogenic bacteria.

Abstract

One of the priority tasks of pharmacy is to find new sources of raw materials for the medicinal products. The purpose of this work is to determine a number of indicators of the quality of promising medicinal raw materials that are the leaves of acorn squash Cucurbita pepo (Cucurbitaceae) for the creation of regulatory and technical documentation. For our research one of the most competitive kind - "Ukrainian multi-plant" was chosen. This kind is not sensitive to climatic conditions (drought-resistant). It has been grown in many countries with moderate climate and the most parts of Ukraine (Polissya, forest-steppe, steppe) and other since 1950. In this way, for the first time, 7 series of acorn squash leaves of "Ukrainian multi-plant" were studied. The main diagnostic features of morphological structure, including morphometric indicators, the main diagnostic microscopic features of the powder of acorn squash leaves were determined. The work presents the limit values of the main figures of 7 series of raw materials: weight loss during drying (not more than 8.5 %), total ash content (not more than 3.7 %,), extractive substances content (not less than 20.0%), phenolic compounds content (not less than 2.0 %). According to the results obtained the regulatory and technical documentation “Methods of quality control of” Acorn squash leaves “has been developed. Abstract

Background and Objectives: statins are effective in the prevention of atherosclerotic plaques formation. According to the observed effects of statins in improving regional blood flow and their protective role against brain stroke, it seems that some of these effects are involved in improving the cerebrovascular reactivity in patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of statins on cerebrovascular reactivity in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods: This study is a single-blinded randomized clinical trial conducted on 180 patients referred to Imam Khomeini Hospital of Urmia in Iran. The patients were hospitalized due to ischemic stroke and they were included in study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then, they were randomly assigned into control and intervention groups. Intervention group patients, in addition to receiving common drug treatments, were treated with daily atorvastatin 80 mg for three consecutive months and their cerebrovascular reactivity was measured and compared on the arrival, seventh and ninetieth days by Transcranial Doppler(TCD). Finally, results were analyzed using spss20 software. Results: In this study, 180 patients with ischemic stroke were examined, which some of them were excluded from study due to lack of referring for follow-up or death after study. Finally, 75 patients were assigned to intervention group and 72 of them were included in control group. The mean of variables Breath holding index (BHI) and Apnea Mean flow velocity(MFV) in patients of intervention group increased significantly compared to the that in patients of control group (P = 0.049, P = 0.003). According to the results, the difference in increase of mentioned variables in the seventh day, and especially in the ninetieth day, after taking atorvastatin was more prominent, which it can be justified by mechanism of drug. Rest MFV patients in any of the two groups showed no significant difference, which suggests lack of the drug effect on the Rest MFV patients. Conclusion: This study found evidence of significant improved cerebrovascular reactivity of patients after taking Atorvastatin, which this process is independent from benefits caused by reduced blood fat following taking statins and it is created as result of self-regulation improvement of endothelial nitric oxide synthase enzyme. Keywords: Stroke, Atorvastatin, Cerebrovascular reactivity, BHI.
