Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is a disorder of the central nervous system that can impair vital functions of the brain such as impaired coordination, impaired posture control, sensation, motion reflexes, and balance disorders such as the balance of sitting and standing. Complementary therapies like Motor Relearning Program (MRP) and Bobath Method have been involved. The aim was to analyze the differences between MRP and Bobath Method to increase standing balance in stroke patients. Method: A quasi-experimental research design is conducted, and respondents were divided into two groups. The treatment group was given the MRP and the control group was given the Bobath Method. Total sample 24 stroke patients were included as participants and obtained by simple random sampling. The independent variables were the MRP and Bobath Method. The dependent variable was standing balance. The data obtained by the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) analyzed using paired t-test and Independent t-test with a significance value of α≤0.05.  Results: The MRP (p=0.000) and Bobath method (p = 0.010) can improve standing balance. The differences in the effectiveness between MRP and Bobath Method showed a significance value of (p=0.006). Conclusion: Bobath method cause complex interactions of the sensory system and musculoskeletal and then regulated in the brain. Thus, MRP was more effective because it causes the cognitive, associative and autonomic to increase standing balance in stroke patients. Keywords: Bobath method; Stroke; Motor relearning program; Standing stability.

Abstract

Objective: Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is characterized by progressive synchronization with high frequencies of drug resistance. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) could open promising avenues for epileptic therapeutic approaches. The rational of the current research was to realize the therapeutic outcome of bone marrow (BMSCs) and adipose (ADMSCs)-drived MSCs against chronic epileptogenic alterations implicated in pilocarpine-induced TLE. Methods: Adult male Wister rats were distributed into five groups: Gp1: non epileptic control group, Gp2: chronic epileptic control group, Gp3: chronic epileptic group treated with BMSCs, Gp4: chronic epileptic group treated with ADMSCs and Gp5: chronic epileptic group treated with carbamazepine (CBZ). Gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA), semaphorin4D (Sema4D) and galanin concentrations were evaluated in brain via ELISA. Gene expression level of hippocampal synapsin-I was estimated using sqRT-PCR. Histological explorations of hippocampus and cerebral cortex were carried out. Results: Significant decline in GABA, galanin and Sema4D contents as well as synapsin-I mRNA level were recorded after pilocarpine injection. BMSCs or ADMSCs transplantation or CBZ administration constructed significant upgrade in GABA, galanin and Sema4D concentrations as well as synapsin-I mRNA level. Micrograph of brain tissue sections of epileptic rats showed nucleus pyknosis and neurodegeneration while, the treated groups demonstrated almost intact histological architecture. Conclusion: Based on the forementioned results, this work established the exact mechanisms underlining epileptogenesis and offered a new hope for treatment of focal epilepsies by employment of MSCs which achieved significant neuroprotective activity through modulating epileptic neuronal circuit, secreating neurotrophic molecules and restoring synaptic plasticity. Keywords: Chronic epilepsy, mesenchymal stromal cells, neuroprotection, GABA, Sema4D, galanin, synapsin-I.

Abstract

To date, teeth with inflammation in the periapical tissues, including destructive ones, often give non-abating exacerbations by conservative treatment, and they are removed. The article displays the clinical and laboratory results of a study of the effectiveness of hirudotherapy in combination therapy of inflammatory diseases of the endodontic. In recent years, a number of new drugs and methods for the treatment of chronic apical periodontitis have been proposed. The arsenal of new drugs for endodontic practice is extensive, but the result of treatment is often not optimistic.  The purpose of the study was to conduct a clinical and laboratory analysis of the method of hirudotherapy to increase the effectiveness of treatment of chronic apical periodontitis. Based on clinical and laboratory data, the local course of the inflammatory process was studied, including cases when using hirudotherapy in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic apical periodontitis. Hirudotherapy allows one to stop inflammatory syndrome in earlier periods and reduce the time of treatment.  The use of hirudotherapy in the combination with conventional endo therapy of patients with chronic apical periodontitis result in pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and vasoconstrictor effect that increases the effectiveness of treatment of chronic apical periodontitis. Keywords: Inflammation, Apical periodontitis, Hirudotherapy, Cytomorphology, Protocooperation.

Abstract

In present material the study some parameters of viburnum fruits harvested in Ukraine. Generally, the research is carried out in order to increase the product range of medicines. However, the quality of viburnum opulus fruit as raw material plant in Ukraine was not regulated due to a lack of the monograph in SPhU 2.0. The feature of our research is that it is only a fragment of the complex system of pharmacognostic study of viburnum opulus fruit. In which raw materials series from the area of preparation on the territory of Ukraine are used. By means of HPLC the comparative research of component content of the free and linked allocation of amino acids of pericarp and a stone of fruits of Viburnum opulus L. is carried out. The content of free amino acids of a stone is the most various-16 connections of such nature. The largest and approximately identical content is characteristic for replaceable amino acid of proline (more that 175 µmol/kg), which is found in a free allocation in a pericarp and a stone and in the linked allocation in a pericarp. Thus, pharmacological and pharmaco-technological tests of crushed fruits of the Viburnum opulus were conducted and also the basic technological parameters were recognized. The results of this experiment will be considered and used to study the composition and development of industrial technology of drugs, which based on them. Keywords: Fruits Viburnum opulus L., Amino acids study, Pharmaco-technological investigation basic technological parameters raw materials.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is a country that has a cultural feature related to child care. Grandparents can act as a parent because of unexpected factors such as the parents dying, accidents, illness, the parents being dependent on drugs, imprisonment, studying abroad or the parents still being adolescents. The aim of this research was to determine the difference between the stimulation and personal-social development of school-aged children taken care of by their grandparents and parents respectively. Method: The sample used consisted of 20 children taken care of by their grandparents and 30 children taken care of by their parents in one of the Elementary Schools in Surabaya. The independent variable was stimulation and the dependent variable was personal-social development. The data was collected using a questionnaires that was analyzed using Chi-Square and Spearman rho’s with significance α<0.05.  Results: The results showed there to be a significant difference in stimulation between grandparents and parents (p=0.007) and the same in personal social development between the grandparents and parents (p=0.000). There was no correlation between grandparent stimulation (p = 0.209) and parental stimulation (p= 0.244) with the personal social development of the school-aged children. Discussion: The personal social development of school-age children who are cared for by their grandparents was lower than those cared for by their parents. However, there was no relationship between the stimulation carried out by the grandparents and the personal social development as well as the stimulation given by their parents on the personal social development. Further research is suggested to analyze the factors that influence the stimulation and personal-social development of school-aged children by comparing the results of the grandparents’ children and those of the parents. Keywords: Grandparents, Parents problems of early childhood, Personal social development, School-aged children, stimulation.

Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate analgesic activity of ethyl acetate and ethanolic extracts of Jasminum sessiliflorum. The analgesic activity was assessed by using acetic acid induced writhing method and tail immersion tests in rats. The ethyl acetate and ethanolic extracts decreased the acetic acid induced abdominal contractions and also significantly increased the reaction time of tail immersion test [1]. These results showed that the plant extracts had both central and peripheral analgesic action. The  results  suggest  that the extracts  of J.sessiliflorum possesses potent analgesic properties, which support its use in traditional medicine and suggesting that the plant should be further investigated for its pharmacological active natural products [2]
