Abstract

Human rabies is a fatal zoon tic diseases, it was endemic in Iraq since 4000 BC, poor passive surveillance and lack of educational awareness of public in Iraq lead to the end emicity and outbreaks of the disease especially in the central governorates including Babylon province. The objective of this study was to evaluate the epidemiologic features and the incidence of deaths of human   rabies   in Babylon province during the years 2012 to 2016.Nine human rabies deaths were reported during this period. Diagnosis is majorly carried out by clinical presentation coupled with history of exposure to rabies infected dog. This number of human deaths due to rabies gotten from this review is a far cry to the number of human death due to the diseases. This study showed that this disease is endemic in Babylon governorate, an epidemic took place in the province during the year 2016, the victims were mainly males; male to female ratio was 8: 1, fatal human rabies affect mainly children and young age males, most of victims didn’t receive post exposure vaccine (88.9%).Human rabies in Babylon province still a public health problem, strategic plan for elimination of human rabies is strongly needed. Abstract

In several biomedical applications, it is desirable to transfer an electron in an atom from one energy level to another. This may be a direct transfer, involving only two atomic levels, or may involve some intermediate levels which the electron must pass through before coming to its final state. The model dealt with here incorporates one such intermediate level, and so we consider three atomic levels in all. Also, our model allows for the possible loss of the electron, via collisional excitation, spontaneous emission, or some other process. We have to de ne a parameter, in units of frequency, which is proportional to the loss rate. The purpose of the thesis is description of the interaction of a three level with pulsed radiation in the Λ scheme. And also we will consider the scheme of excitation whereas two neatly diverged long-term stayed ground states  and, are connected by two nearly resonant laser fields to a third distant short lived state b.

Abstract

The capability of some bacteria and fungi to resist common antibiotics has been a guide to discover new planning to treat the infections connected to antibiotic resistance in the patients. In this study, the antifungal and antibacterial activity of silica oxide nanoparticles was detected in vitro against some bacterial species (Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeroginosa) and some fungi (Aspergillus terrus, Aspergillus parasiticus, Aspergillus flavus, and Candida albicans) and contrasted with antibacterial antibiotics (Amikacin, Amoxillin, Augmastin, Cefotaxine, Ceftazidime, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamycin, Meropenum, and Tetracycline) and antifungal antibiotics (Amphotericin B and Ketoconazole). Silica oxide suspension was prepared by acetic acid solution. Results showed that concentrations of (10-40) µg/ml of silica oxide have antifungal and antibacterial activity against the tested microorganisms in this work more than antibiotics. In conclusion, Silica oxide relates superior antimicrobial characteristics.                       Keywords: Antimicrobial activity, Silica Oxide, Bacteria, Fungi.

Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this research is to examine effect oxidative stress in seminal plasma on fertilization rate in assisted reproductive technique (ART) Methods 70 men attended to fertility center in Al-sadder teaching hospital were rolled in this study .semen analysis was done according to the WHO 2010 guidelines. After analysis the results of SFA were classified as the nospermia, Oligospermia, Oligoasthenospermia and normospermia. Seminal free radicals and antioxidants were measured by spectrophotometric absorbance assay. Results MDA was insignificantly and negatively associated with sperm concentration and highly active motile sperm while CAT and GSH was insignificantly and positively associated with sperm concentration and highly active motile sperm (p>0.05). Oxidative stress parameters in different SFA abnormality shows MDA level insignificantly elevated in sub fertile men with abnormal SFA than normal one. Whereas CAT and GSH were in significantly lesser in sub fertile men with abnormal SFA than normal one. Patients with normal SFA had about five time more fertilization rate than patients with abnormal SFA (odds ratio= 5.585 (CI .529 -59.003)). Universal regression analysis was done to show the effect of measured factors on fertilization rate, count and percentage of active sperm was the most effective factor on FR. Conclusion Inadequate antioxidant protection and elevated oxidative stress destruction effect on semen quality and ultimately o fertilization rate and ART outcome. Keywords: Malondialdehyde (MDA), Antioxidant Enzymes, Reduced Glutathione (GSH), Catalase (CAT), Seminal fluid analysis (SFA), Fertilization rate (FR) and assisted reproductive technique (ART).
