Abstract

Pests are a type of plant damage that can have fatal consequences for farmers, therefore pests need to be eradicated so that farmers' yields can increase, especially in green bean plants. Basil is one of the biodiversity that has the potential to be developed as a traditional medicine. This plant is a plant that has many benefits as medicine, vegetable pesticide, essential oil producer, vegetable and refreshing drink. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of basil leaf extract (Ocimu basilicum L.) on the number of insect pests that attack green bean plants (Phaseolus radiatus L.). The parameters observed were the number of insect pests before and after treatment. The object of this research was green bean plants, the number of treatments in this research was 4 treatments (0% basil leaf extract, 10% basil leaf extract, 20% basil leaf extract, and 30% basil leaf extract) and 6 replications. Research data is descriptive data. From the research data, it was found that there was a decrease in the number of insect pests before and after treatment in the K3 treatment, the number of insect pests before treatment was 12 and after treatment there were 11 insect pests. In treatment K1-K2 there was no decrease in the number of insect pests before or after treatment. In treatment K1, the number of insect pests before treatment was 9 and after treatment there were 14 insect pests. In the K2 treatment, the number of insect pests before treatment was 12 and after treatment there were 19 insect pests. The results of the study concluded that administering basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum L.) had no significant effect on the number of insect pests attacking green bean plants.

Abstract

This research aims was to produce a decent learning device IPA (valid, practical, and effective) to complete the learning outcomes in human circulatory system material. To achieve these objectives, the authors developed a learning device that consists of a syllabus, lesson plans, worksheet, Instructional Materials for Students and Student Assessment Instrument using 4-D model of development. This learning device validated and revised before it tested on twenty five students of seven grader of SMP Negeri 1 Blitar with one group pretest-posttest design. In analyzing data, this study used observation, test, and questionnaire. The technique of analyzing data used descriptive qualitative and quantitative design. The result of the study showed that first, the learning device was valid. Second, teaching and learning activity done well. Third, learning outcome was 100% complete. Fourth, students gave positive response with excellent category. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that the learning device for science subject with discovery learning based had been valid, practical, and effective it could be used to complete the learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country that is abundant in various biological riches and their potential as medicines, so a review of natural antidiarrheal treatment methods using tamarind leaves was carried out. Diarrhea is a digestive disorder with a high prevalence rate, especially in developing countries. Diarrhea is a digestive system disorder characterized by stomach cramps, a liquid stool consistency, and an increase in the frequency of defecation more than 3 times in 24 hours. The research method used is to use literature review through online publications based on the Web, ResearchGate, Google Scholar and Scopus. The research sample used in this literature review was 22 articles. The research results show that the phytochemical content of tamarind consists of tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, phenols and triterpenoids. The results of the analysis in the literature review show that tamarind leaves are an alternative natural treatment and are effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria, for example the Escherichia coli bacteria that causes diarrhea.

Abstract

Trembesi (Samanea saman) plays an important role in the Djawatan forest area. The presence of Djawatan forest in the city adds vital value to trembesi, such as maintaining ecosystem stability, soil stability, water supply stability, O2 supply, and CO2 absorption. This study aims to determine the density of trembesi trees in the Djawatan forest area. The presence of trembesi in the Djawatan forest is crucial for the numerous flora and fauna sheltered beneath it. Therefore, understanding the distribution pattern of trembesi in the Djawatan forest area is essential to ascertain environmental influences on the growth of trembesi. The research method used in this study was descriptive qualitative through observation and interviews. Trembesi distribution in this study was observed in four different zones: waterfront, rice field edge, central Djawatan forest, and settlement edge. Based on the research results, it is known that trembesi distribution is influenced by the surrounding environmental conditions. This is evidenced by data showing that the highest average density of trembesi is found in the central Djawatan forest area, which is 0.50%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe or analyze the readability of ecology laboratory manuals, evaluate their effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement. This research is descriptive. The data collection technique employed readability tests, while data analysis utilized percentage techniques. The research findings indicate an average readability test score of 74.66%, categorized as valid. These results suggest that the laboratory manual is valid and does not require revision, making it suitable for use by students.

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystems are among the ecosystems found in coastal areas. Seagrass beds consist of one or more seagrass species interacting with biotic and abiotic factors in their environment. The objective of this study is to describe the potential of seagrass ecosystems as bioindicators of coastal environmental pollution. The method used in writing this article is a literature review. Articles were collected through literature searches using selected sources (databases) such as Google Scholar. The search covered journal articles published from 2013 to 2023. The research results show that seagrass species are highly diverse along coastal waters. Several seagrass species have been detailed in the study findings. Furthermore, seagrasses have potential as bioindicators of environmental pollution, particularly in assessing the water quality of coastal areas. For instance, seagrasses serve as bioaccumulators of heavy metals such as Cu, Cd, Pb, and Zn in aquatic environments.

Abstract

Assessments carried out by education quality monitoring institutions often ignore student assessments, the results of which are not relevant to what students need. Therefore, the assessment of the teaching and learning process must be carried out transparently and accountable by involving students in the assessment of teaching and learning process. Actions like this are nothing more than an effort to adapt the teaching and learning process to student needs. This descriptive research aims to explain students' preferences for the quality of teaching and learning. A total of 65 prospective biology teachers were respondents, consisting of 17 students in 1st semester, 23 (3rd semester), 7 (5th semester), and 18 (7th semester). From the results obtained, our respondents consider that increasing competence is the most essential attribute or factor related to the teaching and learning process, with an important value percentage of 21.931. Then, teaching organizations (19.901) and learning opportunities (19.662). We use this information regarding student preferences as a guide to improving the teaching and learning process in the future while still correcting several existing deficiencies, such as involving active student participation and providing maximum academic assistance, as well as allowing students to develop their thinking abilities.

Abstract

Global warming is an increase in carbon dioxide gas (CO2) and other gases in the earth's atmosphere, which will make the earth's atmosphere retain more heat coming from the sun. This study aimed to determine the highest carbon stock ratio from various areas with mangrove forest areas. This research was conducted using the grid route method by collecting data from a literature study from different locations in the mangrove forest. The research results obtained that the highest average carbon stock in various regions of Indonesia which has the highest mangrove forest conservation is the Mangrove Area in Pasar Banggi Rembang Village of 737.2 tons/ha with three stations whose species names consist of Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, and Rhizophora mucronata. High and low carbon content, density, and mangrove species in mangrove leaf litter were influenced by the rate of litter production. This production rate will later affect the high low carbon content in mangrove leaf litter.
