Abstract

Premature birth is identified as the most significant contributor to infant mortality. The weight of a newborn baby is determined by nutritional status at the time of conception. Pregnant women who are malnourished and experience physical weakness will endanger the mother's life and threaten the safety of the fetuce. LBW can be caused by anemia, inadherence to antenatal care, mothers with chronic diseases and smoking. This study aimed to determine the influence of hemoglobin levels and nutritional status of first-trimester pregnant women with low birth weight events. This type of quantitative research is a retrospective design. The population are mothers who gave birth at the Kabuh Community Health Center, Jombang Regency, in April 2019 obtained a sample of 39 respondents using a purposive sampling, with inclusion criteria birthing mothers have a KIA book. The data were analyzed using logistic regression. The results showed that almost all (79.5%) 31 pregnant women were not anaemic, almost all (84.6%) 33 pregnant women had normal nutritional status and almost all (76.9) babies were born with average weight, namely 30 respondents. There is a relationship between Hemoglobin  levels in pregnant women and the incidence of LBW with a value of p = 0.000. There is a relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the incidence of LBW with a value of p = 0.000. The most dominant factor is Hb levels (p=0.001 exp B:30) Pregnant women are anaemic, one of the factors causing poor nutritional status. Nutritional status lacks calorie energy, inhibiting the fetus's nutritional intake, resulting in premature labour or disruption of fetal growth.

Abstract

With a high prevalence of stunting in children in the Central Buton District. This study aims to explore the relationship between internal family dynamics and external social relationships affecting children's nutrition. The study was based on the hypothesis that more frequent and qualitative family interactions and involvement in social activities would correlate with a lower risk of stunting. This study used a cross-sectional study design. Analyzing secondary data from the 2021 Family Data Collection (PK21). The study included 6,586 target families as a sample, the analysis included family dynamics as an exposure variable and used the family happiness index formula to identify family interaction and social interaction. The study used logistic regression from Scikit-learn to evaluate the data in the final stage. Data analysis revealed that internal family interactions, although important, showed no statistically significant association with stunting risk (p=0.3699). However, social interaction had a highly significant association with reduced risk of stunting, with a regression coefficient of -1.9934 and Odds Ratio (AOR) of 0.1362 (95% CI: 0.0739 - 0.2510, p<0.0001) in logistic regression analysis. These findings confirm that strong social engagement and community support are key factors in reducing the prevalence of stunting among children in the Mawasangka sub-district. This study concludes that engagement in community social activities has a significant impact on reducing the risk of stunting in children. The findings suggest that interventions aimed at reducing stunting should go beyond intra-family interventions and include increased social interaction and community support to achieve optimal outcomes in stunting prevention.

Abstract

Toddlers are an important period in the process of growth and development of a child. Malnourished children can experience malnutrition and this can result in stunting. Stunting incidents could have a negative impact on the growth and development period of toddlers. There were several factors that influenced the incidence of stunting, both directly and indirectly. Stunting was still a serious health problem facing Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the history of infectious diseases and the frequency of community health centre nutrition services with the incidence of stunting. The research design was cross-sectional with a stratified simple random sampling technique taken from 8 posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Center) with a total sample of 112 toddlers. This research was conducted in the work area of the Saritani Community Health Center, Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province, from January to February 2023. The data analysis technique used in this research was the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between the history of infectious diseases in toddlers and the incidence of stunting (p value=0.006; p-value ≤ α = 0.05), OR value=2.804 and there was a significant relationship between the frequency of health centre nutrition services and the incidence of stunting ( p value=0.001; p-value ≤ α = 0.05), OR value=2.859 in the working area of the Saritani Health Center, Boalemo Regency. Nurses can carry out health promotion efforts for mothers of toddlers to increase stunting prevention by knowing the factors that cause stunting. Increase efforts to provide nutritional education services related to stunting at community health centres, namely the First 1000 Days of Life, Infant and Child Feeding Practices, and routine exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Smoking behavior in patients with mental disorders is known as a risk factor and can affect one aspect of treatment and change in behavior. In addition, smoking will also stimulate psychiatric symptoms and more severe symptoms of recurrence. The objective is to determine the extent of the impact or influence of smoking behavior on mental disorder patients with a risk of violent behavior who have risky behavior tending to smoke in Bantur Health Center. The method used in this research is a case study approach using qualitative and quantitative descriptive research types. This study involved 3 respondents. Data collection is based on interviews, observation, and documentation according to the format of mental nursing care. The results of the study showed that respondents were able to perform nursing actions in generalist nurse therapy sessions 1-5. In the final stage of the study, the results showed that the three patients experienced changes in behavior by being able to practice and mention interventions in each session, but had not been able to reduce smoking behavior because the three patients had been active smokers since they were teenagers. The conclusion from this study is that smoking behavior is a risk factor for pople with mental disorders, especially in behavior. Generalist ners therapy sessions 1-5 for respondents with the risk of violent behavior resolved well, but not for smoking behavior because it takes longer and requires several processes and a stronger desire. It is hoped that future researchers can increase research time in the care process to approach the family in carrying out nursing care not only for the patient but also for the patient's family.

Abstract

Background: This literature review is motivated by the empirical phenomenon that illustrates the increasing number of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, which has an impact on family caregivers. The chronic condition of T2DM requires long-term care and monitoring to maintain blood glucose levels within normal limits. Family caregivers play a crucial role in assisting family members with T2DM by enhancing their roles and functions through family empowerment. Purpose: This literature review aimed to theoretically analyze the importance of family empowerment as a nursing intervention in improving the health status of family members with T2DM. Methods: The research method used in this study is a literature review, which includes an analysis of 9 articles obtained from three databases: ProQuest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. The search keywords used for article retrieval included "family empowerment or caregiver empowerment," "diabetes mellitus," and "nursing intervention," using "AND" and "OR" as Boolean operators. Results: The literature review results show that family empowerment interventions for individuals with T2DM can be carried out by increasing knowledge, providing skills training, and enhancing family support during the care process. The success indicators for family empowerment interventions include increased self-efficacy, self-concept, self-care, and self-control for individuals with T2DM. Conclusion: The findings of this literature review demonstrate that family empowerment as a nursing intervention can yield positive outcomes for patients. Therefore, it should be considered as a reference for primary healthcare nurses to provide intervention not only to the clients but also to their families or caregivers.

Abstract

Bullying is any violent behaviour that is perpetrated repeatedly and intentionally against a person or group of weaker groups. Today, it has become a global problem that is often encountered and faced by many people, not only in the real world but also in the virtual world of cyberbullying. This is the cause of the increase in the number graph of people with mental health disorders, thus creating challenges for everyone to control self-awareness. Therefore, self-efficacy is one of the best treatments for each individual to prevent and recover victims because it can give confidence in their self-esteem and build confidence in each individual. This literature review examines the relationship between self-efficacy and efforts to prevent bullying and cyberbullying in support of implementing SDGs in Indonesia. The study used the literature review design by retrieving articles through an electronic database, namely Google Scholar and eResources. All journals were published around 2013–2023, with keywords used to search for articles: self-efficacy, prevention, bullying, cyberbullying, and SDGs. This method is done by analyzing narratives in journals that are found through several stages, which is to collect 659 articles or research results from international standard journals until 7 articles related to the topic are covered. The results of this study show that there is a link between self-efficacy and bullying prevention efforts and cyberbullying that are proven to improve mental health awareness. The implementation of self-efficacy should be done regularly through a sustainable and ongoing system promoted by collaborating with various parties, leading to improvements in mental health quality to lower the rate of mental health disorders.
