Abstract

This research investigates the role of midwives in enhancing infant immunization coverage in rural areas, emphasizing their contributions to public health. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to assess midwives' impact on vaccination rates. The findings reveal that communities with active midwifery programs achieve significantly higher immunization coverage (85%) compared to those without (65%). Statistical analyses indicate that midwife involvement increases the likelihood of complete vaccination among infants by 2.5 times. Qualitative insights highlight midwives’ roles as trusted community figures, educators, and advocates, fostering positive attitudes toward immunization. Despite these successes, the study identifies systemic barriers, including limited access to vaccines and inadequate training, which hinder midwives’ effectiveness. The research underscores the necessity for supportive policies and systemic changes to empower midwives fully. By recognizing and strengthening the role of midwives, stakeholders can improve immunization efforts and health outcomes for underserved populations.

Abstract

Every Indonesian child has the right to receive health services as written in Law no. 36 of 2009 article 131 paragraph 1 Efforts for infant and child health must be aimed at preparing future generations who are healthy, intelligent and qualified and to reduce infant and child mortality rates. LBW babies are babies born with a body weight of less than 2500 grams regardless of gestational mass. The level of morbidity and mortality in neonates depends not only on body weight, but also on the level of malnutrition of the baby itself. The causes of LBW are generally multifactorial, the most common cause of LBW is premature birth. The younger the gestational age, the greater the short-term and long-term risks that can occur.

Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive respiratory condition characterized by airflow limitation and significant morbidity, impacting the quality of life of affected individuals. This research investigates the effects of a structured physical exercise program on cardiorespiratory function in patients with COPD. A total of 100 participants with a confirmed diagnosis of COPD were enrolled in a 12-week exercise intervention, which included aerobic and strength training activities tailored to individual capabilities. Outcomes were assessed using the six-minute walk test (6MWT), spirometry, and quality of life measurements via the St. George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ). Results demonstrated significant improvements in exercise capacity, with participants increasing their 6MWT distances by an average of 30 meters (p < 0.01). Additionally, there was a notable reduction in dyspnea, as measured by the Modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) scale, and an overall enhancement in quality of life scores. These findings suggest that a structured exercise program can effectively improve cardiorespiratory function and quality of life in patients with COPD. Future studies are recommended to explore long-term effects and adherence strategies to further enhance the benefits of exercise in COPD management.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of oxytocin massage in accelerating the third stage of labor, aiming to enhance maternal outcomes and improve the overall childbirth experience. A randomized controlled trial was conducted involving pregnant women in labor, comparing a group receiving oxytocin massage with a control group receiving standard care. The primary outcomes measured were the duration of the third stage of labor and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage. Results indicated that the oxytocin massage group experienced a significantly shorter duration of the third stage of labor and a reduced incidence of postpartum hemorrhage compared to the control group. Additionally, participants in the oxytocin massage group reported higher levels of maternal satisfaction. These findings suggest that oxytocin massage is an effective complementary therapy that can enhance labor management practices. The study highlights the importance of integrating holistic approaches in obstetric care, promoting better maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Future research should further explore the implications of oxytocin massage and similar interventions to optimize labor management and improve the childbirth experience for diverse populations.

Abstract

This research investigates the comparative effectiveness of acupressure and aromatherapy in alleviating menstrual pain among adolescent girls. Menstrual pain, or dysmenorrhea, is a common and often debilitating condition that affects a significant number of young women, prompting the need for accessible and effective non-pharmacological treatment options. A total of 100 adolescent participants experiencing menstrual pain were randomly assigned to two intervention groups: one receiving acupressure treatment and the other using aromatherapy with essential oils. Pain intensity was measured using a visual analog scale (VAS) before and after the interventions. Results indicated that both acupressure and aromatherapy significantly reduced menstrual pain, with the acupressure group showing a greater mean pain reduction of 4.2 points compared to 3.5 points in the aromatherapy group. These findings support the efficacy of both interventions as viable alternatives to traditional pharmacological treatments. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating non-pharmacological approaches into adolescent healthcare to empower young women in managing their menstrual discomfort. Limitations such as small sample size and reliance on self-reported pain measures are acknowledged, highlighting the need for further research to explore the long-term effects and broader applicability of these interventions. Overall, this study contributes to the growing body of evidence advocating for holistic pain management strategies in adolescent health care.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of providing lactation education on the success of exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum mothers. Exclusive breastfeeding is widely recognized for its numerous health benefits for both infants and mothers, yet many new mothers face challenges in maintaining exclusive breastfeeding. The objective of this research was to assess whether structured lactation education could improve breastfeeding outcomes during the postpartum period. A total of 200 postpartum mothers participated in the study, with 100 mothers receiving lactation education through group sessions and informational materials, while 100 mothers in the control group received standard postpartum care. The results indicated that the mothers who received lactation education were significantly more likely to practice exclusive breastfeeding at both 1 and 3 months postpartum compared to those who did not receive the education. The study found that lactation education helped to enhance maternal confidence, improve breastfeeding techniques, and address common challenges, leading to higher rates of exclusive breastfeeding. These findings support the importance of lactation education in promoting breastfeeding success and highlight the need for targeted educational interventions to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. However, the study also recognizes the influence of other factors, such as socio-economic status and social support, on breastfeeding success, suggesting that a comprehensive approach that includes education, support, and community engagement is essential for achieving optimal breastfeeding practices.
