Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping students' character through moral, ethical, and spiritual values derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. Amid the challenges of globalization, Islamic education serves not only as a medium for knowledge transmission but also as a foundation for developing individuals with strong moral integrity, social responsibility, and religious awareness. This study aims to examine the contribution of Islamic education systems, both formal and non-formal, to students' character development. The study employed a literature review approach by analyzing 35 scholarly sources, consisting of journal articles, books, and relevant educational documents published on Islamic education and character formation. The analysis indicates that the integration of Islamic values into curriculum implementation, learning activities, role modeling, and school culture contributes significantly to the development of honesty, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and social awareness among students. The review further reveals that character formation becomes more effective when supported by collaborative engagement among families, educational institutions, and communities. This study contributes to the development of Islamic education by providing a comprehensive synthesis of strategies for strengthening character education and highlighting the importance of holistic value integration in addressing contemporary educational challenges.

Abstract

The relationship between religion and the state remains a central issue in contemporary Islamic political thought, particularly in the context of modern nation-states characterized by religious and cultural diversity. Various Muslim intellectuals have proposed different perspectives regarding the ideal model of interaction between religious values and state governance. This study aims to analyze and compare the ideas of Ahmad Syafii Maarif and Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im concerning the relationship between religion and the state within the framework of Islamic political thought. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method based on library research, utilizing books, journal articles, and relevant academic publications as primary sources. The analysis is conducted through normative, conceptual, and historical approaches. The findings reveal that both scholars emphasize the importance of democratic values, justice, and respect for human rights in state administration. However, they differ in their emphasis and contextual interpretation of religion-state relations. Ahmad Syafii Maarif advocates the substantive integration of Islamic ethical values within a pluralistic state framework, whereas Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im argues for a secular state that guarantees religious freedom while allowing religion to function as a moral force in the public sphere. This study contributes to the development of contemporary Islamic political discourse by providing a comparative understanding of two influential Muslim thinkers and offering insights into the construction of an inclusive and democratic model of religion-state relations in modern Muslim societies

Abstract

The Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia (LDII) is one of the Islamic socio-religious organizations that has played an important role in fostering religious values, nationalism, and social development in Indonesia. Despite various dynamics throughout its historical development, LDII has continued to contribute to strengthening national character and supporting national progress. This study aims to analyze the historical development of LDII and examine its contributions to advancing the nation and state. The research employs a historical method consisting of topic selection, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The findings reveal that LDII was founded by K.H. Nur Hasan Al-Ubaidah Lubis and has developed into an integral part of Indonesian society. In its organizational movement, LDII consistently promotes the values of Pancasila, national insight, and civic responsibility among its members. Furthermore, LDII contributes to national development through the implementation of eight flagship programs covering religious, educational, social, economic, and environmental sectors. These findings imply that religious organizations such as LDII can serve as strategic partners in strengthening national resilience, fostering social cohesion, and supporting sustainable national development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the religious environment of TPA An-Nur influences the formation of religious identity in children aged 7 to 12. Religious identity plays a crucial role in a child's personality development, encompassing the internalization of spiritual values and their expression in daily behavior. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research involved six purposively selected children as main participants, along with TPA teachers as supporting informants. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was conducted based on Henri Tajfel’s social identity theory. The findings reveal that the religious environment of TPA significantly contributes to shaping children's religious identity through processes of social categorization, group identification, and the internalization of Islamic values. Elements such as peer and teacher interactions, worship routines, religious symbols, and hidden curriculum work together to build an authentic and sustainable religious identity. Children’s religious identity is reflected in their conceptual understanding of Islamic teachings, spiritual engagement, and daily practice of religious values. This study offers a theoretical contribution to the field of the psychology of religion and serves as a practical reference for enhancing religious education in non-formal settings

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in fostering children's enthusiasm for reciting the Qur'an at Saung Qur'an Husnayain. This research employed a qualitative approach involving 10 informants consisting of teachers, students, and parents. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers play multiple roles as educators, mentors, motivators, and parental figures in supporting children's Qur'anic learning. The study identified three main strategies used by teachers to enhance children's enthusiasm: (1) building emotional closeness with students, (2) applying interpersonal communication during the learning process, and (3) integrating enjoyable learning activities such as coloring and educational games. These strategies contributed to increased student participation, improved learning motivation, and greater consistency in attending Qur'an recitation sessions. In addition, a supportive learning environment, emotional encouragement, and attention to children's psychological needs were found to be important factors influencing the effectiveness of teacher interventions. Therefore, teachers play a crucial role in developing children's interest and sustained enthusiasm for learning and reciting the Qur'an from an early age.
