Journal of Calligraphy is an open-access journal that publishes peer-reviewed articles on the world of calligraphy. The articles that can be published is about calligraphy (practice, theory, research, and development) from the global value perspective. It can discuss the history, tools/materials, technique/design/style, worldview, knowledge and civilization, digital-computerized, emerging technologies, education/teaching, conservation and restoration, visual psychology, marketing and management, global trend and future that are suitable with the worldwide value of calligraphy.

Abstract

These writers excelled in calligraphy and its refining, and so did the shops of Al-Warraqah and Al-Warraqin, who practice the profession of copying or writing, such as the grammarian judge Abu Saeed Al-Sirafi who used to transcribe ten papers before sitting in the Judicial Council. However, this profession suffers from the pests of calligraphy and writing, which leads to its texts and takes them out of what its owner wanted, and the most important of these pests is the scourge of correction and distortion. The one who examines this linguistic heritage will find that this scourge - I mean the correction and distortion - has befallen him in many places that need to be refined and reformed. This research presents examples of abnormal readings and the names of their readers, as well as samples of grammatical poetry evidence, which was infected by the correction in the font, and took it out of the intended meaning, which led to the violation of the linguistic or grammatical rule on which it was built. كانت العرب في جاهليتها تقدم الرواية على الكتابة، وتجعلها أعلى مقاماً، ثم آلت المكانة للكتابةِ من بعدُ؛ لتكون الصدارة للكاتب في وزارات الدولة ومجالس الخلفاء، ينبئك عن ذلك سيرةُ كتَّاب العصر العباسي، كعبد الله بن المقفع وسهل بن هارون، ويحيى البرمكي. وقد برعَ هؤلاء الكُّتابُ بالخطِّ وتجويده، وكذلك نشأت دكاكينُ الوراقة والوراقين، الذين يمتهنون مهنة النسخ أو الكتابة، كالقاضي الفقيه النحوي أبي سعيد السيرافي الذي كان ينسخُ عشر ورقات قبل جلوسه في مجلس القضاء. غير أنَّ هذه المهنةَ يعتريها من آفات الخطِّ والكتابةِ ما يودي بنصوصها ويخرجها عما أراده صاحبُها، وأهمُّ هذه الآفاتِ آفةُ التصحيف والتحريف.والناظرُ في هذا التراثِ اللغويِّ يجدُ أنَّ هذه الآفةَ – أعني التصحيف والتحريف - قد أصابته في مواضعَ كثيرة، تحتاجُ إلى تهذيبٍ وإصلاح. يعرضُ هذا البحثُ نماذجَ من القراءاتِ الشاذةِ وأسماءِ قُرِّائها، وكذلك نماذجُ من شواهدِ الشعر النحوية، التي أصابها التصحيف في الخط، فأخرجها عن المعنى المقصود، ما أدى إلى نقضِ القاعدة اللغويةِ أو النحوية التي بني عليها.

Abstract

يحتوي البحث على تعريف الرسم العثماني وأقسامه وأقوالِ العلماءِ فيه من حيثُ التوقيف وحكمه وأدلتهم على ذلك، ثم يتناول البحث إبراز دور الرسم العثماني وأثره في توجيهِ معاني ألفاظِ القرآن الكريم من حيثُ ذكر بعضِ قواعد الرسم العثماني ونماذج تطبيقية عليها يليه خاتمة لما توصَّل إليه البحث. The research contains the definition of the Ottoman drawing and its divisions and the sayings of scholars in it in terms of arrest and its ruling and their evidence for that.

Abstract

The article initially refers to the emergence of the Kufic script, then shows the development of this ancient type of calligraphy and then identifies its most prominent characteristics and reviews a group of its types. The article concludes its axes by identifying the most important rules for writing the Kufic script. يشير المقال - في البداية - إلى نشأة الخط الكوفي، ثم يبين تطور هذا النوع العريق من الخط، ويحدد - بعد ذلك – أبرز خصائصه، ويستعرض مجموعة من أنواعه، ويختم المقالُ محاورَه بتحديد أهم قواعد كتابة الخط الكوفي.

Abstract

This study examines the teaching of Arabic calligraphy in Saudi Arabia by analyzing the theoretical and educational foundations of this essential skill, focusing on identifying the skills required for learning Arabic calligraphy, such as accurately drawing letters and words and organizing ideas according to writing rules. The study also explores the challenges facing calligraphy education, including the similarity of letters and difficulty in distinguishing between them, as well as the lack of emphasis on developing calligraphy skills by some teachers. It proposes improving the curriculum, providing specialized training programs for teachers, and developing objective assessment tools, thereby contributing to enhancing the cultural and educational identity of students.

Abstract

Invention of writing has raised the status of human history above all other creatures, which clearly justifies its importance in communication, recording events, immortalizing monuments, and transmitting it from one generation to the next. We can understand from the above statement, the secret of Arabic Calligraphy, and what preserved it among different nations, and various fields of knowledge, and sufficient evidence of this is the association of the definition of illiteracy among all peoples with ignorance of reading and writing. Man has practiced writing since ancient times, as it has become an effective and efficient means of communication in its various forms, and thus it is considered one of the most important duties, especially in the field of learning and teaching languages to native and non-native speakers. The importance is also envisage by someone: “If it were not for the Calligraphies, covenants, conditions, records, deeds, and every agreement, security, contract, neighborhood, and alliance would be invalidated. On this basis, this paper aims to discuss the role of modern Quranic schools in teaching Arabic calligraphy to school-age pupils. The researcher used the descriptive method, and the study results concluded that kuttab schools have a positive effect in teaching pupils Moroccan Arabic calligraphy in a logical and scientific manner.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the use of learning techniques of I’tiyadiyah method and to find out the effectiveness of the use of learning techniques in I'tiyadiyah method in khat learning in Arabic Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Malang. The research method used by researcher is quantitative method, and the approach used is experimental approach which consists of groups namely experimental group and control group. The results of this study are: 1). The application of I'tiyadiyah method learning techniques is as follows: the researcher explained I'tiyadiyah method first, in which the writing method used a dry pen (ordinary pen) and did not use khandam and ink, and the media used millimeter block books. 2). The use of I'tiyadiyah method learning technique is effective in learning khat in PBA Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. It is known from the results of t-test. It shows that the results of t-count is 12.43 greater than t-table (table significance) which is 5% = 1,980. It indicates that Ha is accepted, or in other words that the use of I'tiyadi Method learning technique is effective in learning khat in Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Malang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The current study aims to identify ways of innovation and creativity in mastering Arabic calligraphy skills in the digital age by investing in the digital revolution, artificial intelligence applications, and the outcomes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to improve and enhance calligraphy, to come up with proposals and procedures that help enable writing skills, master calligraphy, and enable individuals to be creative in calligraphy, through analyzing and reviewing previous research, studies, and educational literature that dealt with Arabic calligraphy. The current study differs from previous studies in its study methodology, as the current study relies on analyzing educational literature that discussed the topic of Arabic calligraphy and ways of creativity, innovation, and developing its skills through the analytical inductive approach. In light of the results of previous studies and according to the researcher's vision, the current study presents a set of recommendations.. تهدف الدراسة الحالية تعرُف سبل الابتكار والإبداع في إتقان مهارات الخط العربي في العصر الرقمي من خلال استثمار الثورة الرقمية وتطبيقات الذكاء الاصطناعي ونتاجات الثورة الصناعية الرابعة لتحسين وتجويد الخط، للخروج منها بالمقترحات والإجراءات التي تساعد على تمكين مهارات الكتابة وإتقان الخط وتمكين الأفراد من الإبداع في الخط، من خلال تحليل ومراجعة البحوث والدراسات السابقة والأدبيات التربوية التي تناولت الخط العربي. وتختلف الدراسة الراهنة عن الدراسات السابقة في منهجية الدراسة إذ تعتمد الدراسة الحالية على تحليل الأدبيات التربوية التي تداولت موضوع الخط العربي وسبل الإبداع والابتكار وتنمية مهاراته من خلال المنهج التحليلي الاستقرائي وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسات السابقة ووفقًا لرؤية الباحث تقوم الدراسة الراهنة بتقديم جملة توصيات.
