Abstract

This study aims to examine the hadith cited by Imam al-Suyūṭī in al-Durr al-Manthūr when interpreting the verse, (Syahru ramadhanalladzi unzila fiihi-l Qur’an…){Qur’an 2:185}, which relates to the timing of the revelation of the divine scriptures during Ramadan. The significance of this topic lies in the fact that al-Suyūṭī often reports narrations without explicitly judging their authenticity, which necessitates verification of their chains of transmission before relying on them for scholarly inference. Accordingly, the research problem centers on determining the reliability of this hadith in terms of both chain and text, and clarifying its scholarly status based on the principles of hadith authentication and criticism. The study employs a descriptive-analytical library-based methodology, utilizing tools of hadith verification, isnād analysis, and textual criticism, with reference to primary sources such as Musnad Ahmad, the tafsīrs of al-Ṭabarī and Ibn Kathīr, as well as works on narrators and hidden defects. The findings indicate that all transmission routes converge at ʿImrān ibn Dāwar, from Qatāda, from Abū al-Malīḥ, from Wāthila, and that the isnād is sound at the level of ḥasan li-dhātihi (good in itself), elevated to ḥasan li-ghayrihi (good due to corroboration) through multiple routes and scholarly acceptance. The text itself aligns with the Qur’an and other authentic hadiths. The study recommends that every narration be critically examined before use in exegesis, and calls for broader analytical studies of other exegetical reports, combining isnād and matn analysis, while training students of knowledge in the tools of hadith verification and the use of biographical and critical works.

Abstract

The division of inheritance in Islam, especially the provision of a 2:1 ratio between men and women in the Qur'an. An-Nisā' verse 11 is still a debate in the context of contemporary society. The debate is increasingly relevant as the role of women in the family changes, including when women are also the breadwinners and even the main source of family income. This research aims to analyze women's inheritance rights in QS. An-Nisā' verses 11–12 through a contextual interpretation approach and examine its relevance to the changing economic role of women in the family. This research uses a qualitative method with a type of library research. Data was obtained through a study of relevant books of interpretation, books, scientific journals, and academic literature, then analyzed descriptive-analytically by comparing classical and contemporary interpretations. The results of the study show that the 2:1 inheritance division in classical interpretation is understood as a form of proportional justice related to the difference in economic responsibilities of men and women. Meanwhile, changes in social conditions show that women today can have a greater economic role, including as breadwinners. Fazlur Rahman's double movement perspective and Amina Wadud's thought provide space to understand the message of verse justice by considering the social context and normative purpose of the Qur'an. In this context, substantive justice does not have to be understood as the abolition of faraid provisions, but can be realized through deliberation and the mechanism of takharuj or al-sulh after the rights of each heir are known. Thus, the provisions of inheritance remain the normative basis, while the conditions, needs, contributions, and benefits of the heirs can be considered in reaching an agreement on the division of property in contemporary families

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) on social care character and learning outcomes of Pancasila Education for fifth-grade elementary school students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of 36 students equally divided into an experimental group (n=18) and a control group (n=18). The experimental group received TPACK-based PjBL instruction, while the control group followed conventional instruction. Research instruments included a multiple-choice test to measure learning outcomes (20 items, K-R 20=0.704) and a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure social care character (14 items, Cronbach's Alpha=0.738). The results showed that the TPACK-based PjBL model significantly affected social care character (t=3.243; p=0.003; eta²=0.236), learning outcomes (t=4.123; p<0.001; eta²=0.333), and simultaneously affected both (Wilks' Lambda=0.623; F=10.001; p<0.001; eta²=0.377) with large effect categories. In the experimental group, the average learning outcomes increased from 48.89 to 75.83 (N-Gain=0.556, medium category) and social care character increased from 37.39 to 45.89 (N-Gain=0.498, medium category). The mastery learning proportion in the experimental group reached 61.1%, much higher than the control group which only reached 11.1%. These findings strengthen the TPACK framework in the context of Pancasila Education in elementary schools as an approach that can support the integrated development of character and academic abilities.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly mediating how humans acquire knowledge, make decisions, and perform cognitive activities. In higher education, the delegation of cognitive activities to algorithmic systems has the potential to shift human judgment and responsibility. This study aims to examine Qur’anic anthropology as a foundation for reframing human agency under increasingly AI-mediated conditions. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature-based design and conceptual analysis. A semantic-contextual analysis is conducted on the Qur’anic terms al-insān, al-bashar, al-nās, Banī Ādam, al-ins, al-mar’, as well as the concepts of ‘abd and khalīfah. The findings are then synthesized with theories of human agency, moral responsibility, and AI ethics. The findings reveal that Qur’anic anthropology represents human beings as multidimensional entities possessing cognitive, relational, moral, spiritual, and teleological capacities. These dimensions are reconstructed into eight capacities of Qur’anic human agency: epistemic, moral, relational, spiritual, and teleological agency. The findings demonstrate that human agency from a Qur’anic perspective is not synonymous with absolute autonomy, but rather constitutes the capacity to understand, evaluate, choose, and act consciously within an orientation of values and responsibility. In the context of AI, Qur’anic Ethical Intelligence (QEI) is conceptualized as an ethical capacity to direct and evaluate the use of AI without surrendering human judgment and responsibility to algorithmic systems. As a conceptual study, this research does not empirically test the application of QEI among university students. Further research is therefore needed to validate and develop measurement instruments. This study connects Qur’anic anthropology with human agency under algorithmic conditions and proposes QEI as a framework for strengthening human agency resilience in the age of AI.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of the concepts of 'asabiyyah and 'umrān in Ibn Khaldun's Islamic sociology to the content of QS Al-Hujurāt verse 13. This study is here to fill the existing academic gap, considering that previous studies on this verse are still limited to the realm of gender equality, multiculturalism, and moral education values, without anyone seriously discussing it with the sociological framework of Ibn Khaldun. The research uses the library research method with a conceptual and historical analysis approach, relying on al-Muqaddimah as a primary source and various relevant academic literature as secondary sources. The results of the study show three significant sociological correspondences. First, the existence of syu'ūb wa qabā'il, which the Qur'an declares as the Divine will, can be explained mechantically through 'asabiyyah, which is group solidarity that unites individuals into an identity community. Second, the command of lita'ārafū can only be fully actualized under healthy conditions of 'umrān, where various groups interact productively in a shared economic, cultural, and socio-political space. Third, the typology of badawah and ḥaḍdirected by Ibn Khaldun corresponds to the principle of egalitarianism of the verse which emphasizes piety, not the achievement of civilization, as a benchmark of glory. This research contributes to the development of Islamic sociology as a discipline that has strong epistemological roots in the Islamic intellectual tradition.
