Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of workload and work-life balance on employee engagement at PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya. The study was prompted by the importance of employee engagement in supporting organisational performance, which can be influenced by high workloads and the ability to maintain a balance between work and personal life. A quantitative approach was used in this study, employing a survey method. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 96 employees selected using simple random sampling. The data analysis method used in this study was Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis to test validity, reliability, and hypotheses. The results revealed that workload had a negative effect, while work-life balance had a positive effect on employee engagement. Simultaneously, both variables had a significant effect on employee engagement. These findings emphasise the need for proportional workload management and the strengthening of work-life balance programmes to improve employee engagement and performance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning (STP) based marketing strategy for Candyco_id, a handmade knitting craft business in Malang City. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach to deeply explore the experiences of business owners thru interviews, observations, and an examination of marketing activities. The research findings indicate that the application of STP at Candyco_id evolved naturally and adaptively, influenced by direct interaction with consumers and social media trends. Market segmentation is formed based on demographic, geographic, psychographic, and behavioral characteristics, with gift-giving motives and a unique preference for handmade products being dominant. The targeting is directed toward students as the primary segment, with expansion thru digital marketing reaching consumers outside the region and potentially entering international markets. Positioning is built thru the differentiation of custom services, quality craftsmanship, and storytelling that strengthens the emotional value of the product. The challenges faced include price wars, which highlight the need for consumer education about the value of craftsmanship. Overall, this research confirms that the STP strategy plays an important role in strengthening the competitiveness of handmade creative MSMEs and can serve as a reference for developing marketing strategies in similar sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing salt imports in Indonesia over the period 1990–2024. Despite Indonesia’s substantial marine resource potential, dependence on imported salt remains high, particularly to meet the needs of the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. This condition is primarily driven by the low quality and insufficient quantity of domestic salt production, which has yet to meet industrial purity standards. The study employs annually time-series with secondary data and utilizes Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and the Error Correction Model (ECM) as analytical techniques. The ECM estimation results indicate that all variables under investigation converge toward a long-run equilibrium, demonstrating the presence of cointegration. Both short-run and long-run analyses further reveal that Gross Domestic Product (GDP), domestic salt production, import salt prices, and the exchange rate jointly exert a significant influence on Indonesia’s salt imports. Partially, the long-run and short-run estimations show that GDP and the Rupiah exchange rate have a positive and statistically significant effect on the volume of salt imports. In contrast, import salt prices exhibit a negative and significant effect in the short run, while domestic salt production is found to be statistically insignificant. Based on these findings, it is recommended that policymakers and relevant stakeholders coordinate more closely to align salt import policies with national economic growth dynamics, while simultaneously strengthening domestic salt production capacity through technological modernization and infrastructure development.

Abstract

This study is focused on investigating and evaluating the impact of Ownership Structure and Environmental Costs on Financial Performance using Company Characteristics and Cost Efficiency as Intervening Variables. All companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2020 and 2024 that are part of the Metal and Similar Sub-Sector comprise the population used in this study. The Partial Least Square (PLS) method, which incorporates testing through the outer model and inner model, was used for data analysis and hypothesis testing. The study's findings show that ownership structure negatively influences financial performance, although the effect is not statistically significant. Meanwhile, ownership structure shows a positive and significant influence on company characteristics, and a negative yet significant influence on cost efficiency. Furthermore, environmental costs positively affect company characteristics but without significance, and they also negatively influence financial performance, although not significantly. In addition, company characteristics demonstrate a positive and significant effect on cost efficiency, while cost efficiency itself positively and significantly contributes to financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of education level, work experience, type of occupation, and number of dependents on the income of recent migrant workers in Denpasar City, both simultaneously and partially. The research applies a quantitative approach using data analysis to examine the relationships among variables. The results show that education level, work experience, type of occupation, and number of dependents simultaneously have a significant effect on migrant workers’ income. Partially, education level has a negative and significant effect on income, while work experience and number of dependents have a positive and significant effect. Employment in the formal sector tends to provide higher income compared to the informal sector. These findings indicate a mismatch between formal education and labor market demands, as well as the importance of work experience in increasing income. This study is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in formulating strategies to improve human resource quality and the welfare of migrant workers in Denpasar City.
