Abstract

Breast milk engorgement is one of the common problems experienced by postpartum mothers and can hinder the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The incidence of breast milk engorgement is influenced by several factors, including breastfeeding position, latch-on, and breast care. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between breastfeeding position, latch-on, and breast care with the incidence of breast milk engorgement in postpartum mothers. This study used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 43 postpartum mothers at PMB Yulma Sastri selected using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between breastfeeding position and the incidence of breast milk engorgement (p-value = 0.001) and between latch-on and the incidence of breast milk engorgement (p-value = 0.020). The breastfeeding position variable had an OR value of 12.67 and latch-on had an OR value of 5.33. Meanwhile, breast care did not show a significant relationship with the incidence of breast milk engorgement (p-value = 1.000; OR = 1.00). This study indicates that proper breastfeeding techniques, especially breastfeeding position and latch-on, play an important role in preventing breast milk engorgement in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the complications of pregnancy that contributes significantly to maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. There are many factors that cause delivery by C-section, one of the indications for C-section is severe preeclampsia. One of the risk factors for PEB is a history of hypertension before or during pregnancy. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that in 2023, the maternal mortality rate (MMR) worldwide reached 287,000 deaths due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. This study aims to determine the relationship between health promotion and a history of hypertension with the incidence of PEB in pregnant women. This study uses an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of pregnant women and women in labor at specific health facilities during a specified period. The sample was taken using accidental sampling, resulting in a sample size of 50 respondents. Data were collected through structured interviews, questionnaires, and medical record reviews. The independent variables were health promotion and history of hypertension, while the dependent variable was the incidence of preeclampsia. Data analysis used the chi-square test at a significance level of p<0.05. The results of the study obtained a p-value of 0.004 for health promotion and a p-value of 0.026 for a history of hypertension in relation to the incidence of preeclampsia in mothers. It is hoped that this study will become a source of knowledge in providing education to mothers during pregnancy

Abstract

A positive childbirth experience is an important indicator in midwifery services because it can improve maternal comfort, satisfaction, and psychological well-being after delivery. One of the factors influencing a positive childbirth experience is the presence of a birth companion who provides emotional, physical, and psychological support during labor. The support provided by birth companions can help mothers feel calmer, safer, and more confident in facing the childbirth process. This study aimed to determine the role of birth companions in creating a positive childbirth experience at Klinik Budi Mulia in 2026. This study used a quantitative method with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all mothers giving birth at Budi Mulia Clinic Palembang in 2026. The sample included 40 respondents selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires regarding the role of birth companions and positive childbirth experiences. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that most respondents received good birth companion support, namely 28 respondents (70%), while 12 respondents (30%) received less optimal support. Most respondents had a positive childbirth experience, namely 30 respondents (75%), while 10 respondents (25%) had a less positive childbirth experience. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between the role of birth companions and positive childbirth experiences with a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study indicates that birth companions play an important role in creating a positive childbirth experience. Emotional support, motivation, attention, and assistance during labor can increase comfort, safety, and self-confidence among mothers during childbirth. Therefore, health workers, especially midwives, are expected to involve family members or husbands as birth companions to improve the quality of midwifery services and create positive childbirth experiences for mothers. Abstract

Diarrhea is a condition characterized by bowel movements occurring more frequently than usual, typically more than three times per day, with stools that are looser or more watery than normal. An infant is considered to have diarrhea if they defecate more than three times a day. According to the 2023 Household Health Survey (SKRT), diarrhea was the second leading cause of death among children under five years of age. Reports from 16 provinces and 41 districts indicated outbreaks of diarrhea in those areas, with a total of 10,980 diarrhea cases and 277 deaths attributed to the disease. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea among children under five years old in the service area of PMB Herasdiana, Palembang City. The study employed an analytical survey using a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all mothers who brought their under-five children for treatment at PMB Herasdiana, Palembang City. Data analysis included both univariate and bivariate analyses. The results showed that the incidence rate of diarrhea among children under five in the service area of PMB Herasdiana, Palembang City, in 2025 was 49.9%. The bivariate analysis revealed significant associations between maternal education, maternal employment status, and maternal age with the occurrence of diarrhea among under-five children. It is recommended that healthcare providers at PMB Herasdiana, Palembang City, enhance the quality of healthcare services, particularly in the effective and efficient management of diarrhea among children under five years of age.
