Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to analyze the needs of students in learning physics related to energy literacy by utilizing the potential of waterfalls as a reference for developing e-modules in Edupark. Methodology: The methodology of this study is survey- quantitative descriptive research. Data collection through questionnaires given to respondents using google form. The research location is at Senior High School 1 Prabumulih, Senior High School 04 Ogan Komering Ulu, Senior High School 1 Merapi Timur, Senior High School 6 Prabumulih, Senior High School 1 Makarti Jaya, Senior High School 1 Bayung Lencir, Senior High School 10 Palembang, Senior High School 2 Palembang, Senior High School 1 Unggulan Muara Enim. Main Findings: The findings of this study tentang Do you think physics is a difficult subject to learn percentage 64%, Have you ever visited a waterfall before percentage 50,1%, Have you ever been taught energy related concepts on waterfalls percentage 31,5%, Have you ever been taught using E-Modules related to waterfall eduparks percentage 51%, Have you ever heard of hydropower before percentage 87,1%, Do you agree that hydropower can provide more stable energy than other renewable energy sources percentage 89,1%. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in the e-module associated with the waterfall edupark towards students' energy literacy. The findings can provide new insights in the context of education and researchers to develop appropriate innovations to improve e-modules.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the disaster mitigation-based semester learning plan for the general course of living environment studies at Tadulako University. Methodology: This is a descriptive qualitative study employing purposive sampling and survey methods using questionnaires. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Thirty respondents participated in the study. Main Findings: Findings reveal that semester learning plan development indicators require seminars and workshops with experts, faculty, students, and alumni. The semester learning plan integrates disaster mitigation-oriented learning outcomes using case methods and team-based projects supported by field practice. semester learning plan implementation aligns with lecturers' improvisation, and periodic reviews are recommended every three years. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study provides a framework for integrating disaster mitigation into the semester learning plan for general course of living environment studies, highlighting practical approaches like case methods and field projects. It advances the integration of disaster education into university-level environmental curricula.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The study aimed to compare the effects of social trends-based instruction to conventional method of teaching on students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics. Methodology: The study employed a quasi-experimental research design using test questionnaire which was formulated by the researcher based on the National Council for Teachers in Mathematics (NCTM) principles and standards for teaching mathematics. Data were collected from two groups of First Year BS Hospitatily Management college students, analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences and involved ethics review and informed consent. Main Findings: The study revealed that both social trends-based instruction and traditional instruction methods led to improvements in students' conceptual understanding in mathematics. However, the social trends-based instruction group demonstrated higher scores on students’ learning of the topic. Findings also revealed through the Analysis of Covariance that the type of instruction used in both groups had a significant impact on students’ conceptual understanding. Novelty/Originality of this study: To the best of the researcher's knowledge, no existing study has integrated social trends into mathematics teaching to the extent explored in this research. This study uniquely integrates Social Trends-Based Instruction in teaching mathematics to evaluate its influence on students’ conceptual understanding. This study offers a new perspective for mathematics classroom and serves as an instructional model for mathematics educators to enhance mathematical learning of students. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers seeking to modernize mathematics instruction.
