Abstract

There are 2 main problems of this research: how is the form of communication culture of Bugis and Mandar tribe in SMP Negeri 1 Pasangkayu?, and how is the speech strategy of Bugis and Mandar tribe in SMP Negeri 1 Pasangkayu? Data were collected by taking notes and listening methods using the tapped technique. Data were analyzed using four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. Furthermore, the result of this research reveals 9 communication forms they are: 1) command form, 2) suggest form, 3) complain form, 4) invite form, 5) ask form, 6) congratulate form, 7) apologize form, 8) joke form, and 9) promise form. Meanwhile, there are 8 direct speech strategies 1) direct command strategy, 2) direct suggest strategy, 3) direct complain strategy, 4) direct invite strategy, 5) direct ask strategy, 6) direct congratulate strategy, 7) direct apologize strategy, and 8) direct promise strategy. There are also 6 undirect speech strategies: 1) indirect command strategy, 2) indirect suggest strategy, 3) indirect complain strategy, 4) indirect invite strategy, 5) indirect ask strategy, 6) indirect apologize strategy.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the religiosity effect, social support and demographics towards adolescent of victims’ divorce. The researches assume that religiosity (intellect, ideology, public practice, private practice, and religious experience), social support (informational support, emotional support, companionship support, and tangible support), gender, and age influence posttraumatic growth toward adolescent victims of parental divorce. The population of this research is teenagers of parents’ divorce victims who numbered 125 adolescents aged 12-18 years in West Sulawesi. Researchers use the accidental sampling technique which is one technique of non-probability sampling. Test the validity of measuring instruments using the technique of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Data analysis using multiple regression analysis technique. The result of the research shows that there is a significant effect of the social support dimension on the posttraumatic growth variable of adolescent parent victims of divorce. The result of the study found that there was a significant influence of religiosity, social support, and demographic variables on posttraumatic growth towards adolescents of victim divorce. Significant variables were emotional support and tangible support and variables not significant were intellect, ideology, public practice, private practice, religious experience, informational support, companionship support, gender, and age. The researchers hope the implications of this study can be reviewed and improved in further research. It is exampled by adding other variables such as personal factors, cultural factors, and further broaden of respondents’ scope.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know and analyze the influence of leadership, motivation, and work discipline on the performance of employees of industry and commerce of gowa regency and analyze the factors that have dominant influence on employee performance. This research is carried out in the Department of Industry and trade of gowa regency using a sample of 53 respondents. Data analysis used is descriptive to explain the characteristics of respondents and description of research variables. Furthermore, quantitative data is analyzed by multiple regression analysis tools through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program to know information about the influence of leadership factor, motivation and work discipline, on employee performance either simultaneously or partially. The results of this study indicate that simultaneously all the independent variables studied have a positive effect on the performance of employees of industry and commerce of gowa regency, and the factors that have dominant influence on the performance of employees of Industry and Trade Office of gowa regency is the motivation factor. Based on the results of the research, recommendations can be given that is to improve the performance of employees at the Department of Industry and trade gowa district is needed leadership, motivation, discipline work.

Abstract

This research tried to solve these difficulties by focusing on improving the writing skills of students through WhatsApp applications by answering the questions (1) Is the use of WhatsApp applications effective in improving the writing skills of students? To achieve the aims, the researcher implemented research to improve writing skills by the pre-experimental method. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Parepare. The subject of this research were students of eleventh grade in SMAN 2 Parepare in the academic year 2022-2023. The population of the research was the students in SMAN 2 Parepare. In this research, the researcher used two instruments. The first instrument is a writing test that mentions a pre-test. The second instrument is the writing test that mentioned post-test. Based on the analysis, the research found that WhatsApp application as a media in teaching could make the students interested in learning writing. Teaching and learning the English language by using WhatsApp is regarded as the newest innovation of the English language teaching strategy.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement of explanatory text writing skills using the CTL (contextual teaching and learning) approach in Class VIII.B students at MTs Negeri 2 Tana Toraja. Through the CTL (contextual teaching and learning) approach, improving explanatory text writing skills can be seen both in process and in product. This research was carried out in the stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. The results of this research show that the application of the CTL (contextual teaching and learning) approach can improve the skills of writing explanation texts in class VIII.B students at MTs Negeri 2 Tana Toraja, both in process and product. Process improvement is shown in student attitudes, student activities and the learning atmosphere, namely students participate actively in learning to write explanatory texts, students dare to express opinions during discussions, students can work together well in groups and students can follow and understand the steps of the CTL approach (contextual teaching and learning) well. Product improvements can be seen from the results of students' work. In cycle I, the average student score was 70.6 with 5 students or 20% of students completing the test. Furthermore, in cycle II the average student score increased to 84.35 with 17 students completing the test or 85% of students.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the form of community struggle to develop Pasangkayu into a district. To find out the community's social conditions after the formation of Pasangkayu Regency. And to find out about community developments after the name change of North Mamuju Regency to Pasangkayu Regency. This research method uses historical research methods, namely 1. Heuristics (data collection). 2. Source criticism is divided into two types, namely external and internal criticism. 3. Interpretation (data analysis) of various information obtained from various sources. 4. Historiography is intended to write historical events in the form of scientific work using descriptive language and explanations. The research results show that the formation of North Mamuju Regency was based on natural resource factors and the community's inability to view Mamuju Regional Government services as favoritism. Finally, a movement initiated by the people of Sarudu Village was carried out, resulting in a forum called KAPKP (Action Committee for the Establishment of Pasangkayu District) to fight for these ideals. The peak of the struggle, on July 4, 2002, was the expansion of North Luwu Regency.

Abstract

Symbolic violence is a non-physical violence as an exertion to legitimate domination in a social group. Symbolic violence practice possibly occur everywhere and every time including school. Nevertheless, that practice tends to be considered as a normal phenomenon. Thus the object of the violence unconsciously put himself as the victim of the violence. The theory of Bourdieu was used to explain social class dominantly represented in the pictures of text books and symbolic violence represented in the pictures of English Text Books used. Data analysis of the pictures was based on Pragmatic Semiotic theory that explained in qualitative descriptively at the end. The research has shown that high class characteristics are dominantly described and several pictures of the two books represented symbolic violence practice. However, it always considered normal without proper explanation. Another concerned finding was that Symbolic violence practice was indicated by the representation of particular social class’s characteristic dominantly. It could be an obstacle for those who have never seen the modals previously. This research has proven the existence of symbolic violence in school and as an alert as well for those who plays any role in education to prevent social discrimination and symbolic violence practice.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the vowels and consonants of mentally retarded children capable of light level VII grade students at SLB PK & PLK Galesong when speaking. The subjects of this study were 16 mentally retarded students who were in SLB PK & PLK Galesong but the object was grade VII students at SLB PK & PLK Galesong mentally retarded, amounting to 5 people. The method in this research is the descriptive method. The instruments used were observation, record,ing and take notes. then to find out the results of the mental retardation ability of children is used a suitable checklist or checklist in the form of indicators of the speech ability of mentally retarded children. The results showed that the acquisition of data known number of students with data 001 amounted to 50, 002 amounted to 63, 003 amounted to 53, 004 amounted to 43 while Data 005 got a value of 30, thus the results of the average speech ability of mentally retarded students capable of light level students in SLB Galesong PK & PLK of 48. From that it can be concluded that mentally retarded students capable of mild level of education are in the category lacking in speaking ability because of the many phonemes and phonemes both vocal and consonant changes.

Abstract

Sociolinguistics is a discipline that focuses on the study of linguistic variation. It claims that in multilingual culture where some languages coexist in a society, they affect each other, such as in Indonesia. Thus, Interlanguage could happen in this area. A person who is bilingual or multilingual,/usually finds a problem in speech as an effect of language contact. This phenomenon is called interference. This study aims to elaborate on the kinds of syntactical interference and to describe the most frequent syntactical interference made by the elite group of Indonesia in speaking English. Another purpose of this research is to disclose the factors that make the elite group of Indonesia do those kinds of syntactical interference in speaking English. The researcher collected the primary data from 20 respondents of the Indonesian elite group by conducting interviews and recordings. The analysis was conducted by using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results show that the elite group of Indonesia makes several kinds of syntactical interference, including omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. This is caused by the unawareness in the effort to transfer the original structure of the Indonesian language into English. This research has significance as follows: (1)Theoretical benefit: this research, will show the most frequent syntactical interference produced by Indonesians in speaking English. (2) Practical benefit: It will give the readers insights and awareness about the various kinds of interference, especially in syntactical interference that usually emerges in English production.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether or not the implementation of the Instructional Games Model using the ‘Quizizz’ application has a significant effect on the students’ vocabulary at SMK 1 Bone. The method of this research was a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test and this method tends to see the results of the research where is there any improvement in students’ vocabulary after implementing the instructional games model using the Quizizz application. The instrument of the research was a vocabulary test that was given as a pre-test and a post-test. In the end, this research shows that there was an improvement made by the tenth-grade students. This is proven by the students’ mean score from the pre-test which was 56.6 and the improvement increased by 88.9 from the post-test. The observation results showed that the Implementation of the Instructional Games Model Using Quizizz Application could improve the students’ vocabulary. So, from this research, it can be concluded that the Implementation of the Instructional Games Model Using the Quizizz Application could improve the student’s vocabulary in the class of PN 4 at SMK 1 Bone.
