Abstract

Introduction : Patients with hypertension patients can have sleep disorders such as dizziness or headache, feeling tired during the day, anxiety, decreasing concentration and irritability. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on sleep quality in patients with hypertension in South Cilacap City. Method : The research used quasi-experiment with pre-post test without control group. Respondents werw patients with hypertension in South Cilacap City, with the criteria forthose who were active in health care programme, able to perform independent activities, consume of anti-hypertensive drugs, have done PMR regularly for 7 days, and the exclusion criteria was patients with impaired osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate sleep quality twice, before and 7 days after interventions PMR. Statistic analysis used wilcoxon test. 16 respondents included in the criteria. Result : The quality of sleep before treatment PMR was 7 people (43.8%) poor, 9 people (56.3%) very bad. After treatment PMR was 3 people (18.8%) rather good, 13 people (81.3%) less good. The analysis shown the sleep quality was difference between before and after PMR with p-value <0.001. Discussion : The study shows there is difference between before and after PMR in hypertensive patients in South Cilacap. PMR can be used to improve the sleep quality of hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients with decreasing in foot sensation will impact on diabetic ulcers.  This study aims to explore the effect of combination between diabetic legs exercise and SPA therapy on foot sensitivity escalation among patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. This study used quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design without control group with 17 respondents and recruited by purposive sampling methode. Data were collected from patients with peripheral diabetic neuropathy and had 8 maximum score of foot sensitivity.. Foot sensitivity was measured on the 1st day of intervention and end day of intervention. Wilcoxon test analysis showed significant differences on foot sensitivity with combination of diabetic legs exercise and SPA therapy compare to diabetic legs exercise only (p value < 0.05). It can be inferred that combination of diabetic legs exercise and SPA therapy are more effective to increase legs sensitivity. Therefore, combined effect of those therapies may eventually decrease diabetic ulcers risk.

Abstract

Introduction: Prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 26.5% WHILEhile in Yogyakarta cases of hypertension as a cardiovascular disease that causes the highest deaths reached more than 80%, and the incidence rate is always increasing every year. From the results of interviews of 56 respondents and blood pressure measurement obtained 21 respondents who experienced hypertension. To overcome hypertension in elderly researchers combined two warm water foot soak therapy and deep breathing relaxation. The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of warm water foot soak therapy and deep breathing relaxation to blood pressure in elderly at Rumah Seni Seni Budi Dharma Yogyakarta. Methodology: This research is a quantitative research type, the method used quasi Experimental Desaign with pre and post test design control. Sampling using total sampling. Technique of collecting data by observation using digital sphygmomanometer. Data analysis using Paired simple t-test with significant value p <0,05. Result: The result of data analysis obtained by the respondent's blood pressure after the treatment therapies decreased significantly with pistol systolic and diastolic p value of 0.000. With an average systolic blood pressure difference before and after intervention of 22.71 mmHg and diastolic 11.94 mmHg. Discussion: There is a significant effect on decreasing systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after treatment of warm foot bath and deep breath relaxation in hypertensive elderly at UPT Budi Dharma Yogyakarta Senior High School

Abstract

Background: The new graduate nurses have been in a stressful situation about their workplace. The High level of work stress has been decreased the nurse’s motivation in the work, so it will have an impact on the decline the nursing services quality. The new graduate nurses with the work stress will be motivated to quit their jobs. Objective: This study aims to determine the factors associated with decreased job stress of new graduate nurses. Method: This study was a quantitative research. The data was analized with the associative analytic method and cross sectional approach. The population of this study was all new graduate nurses who have had experience for 1-6 months. The sample size is determined by total sampling technique of 30 nurses. The study was conducted at Semarang Medical Center. Work stress measurement using DASS 42 instrument. The analysis process of the data performed using Spearman rank test and multiple linear regression to measure the relation of factors related to work stress. Result: The new graduate nurses work stress has a normal until light category. The average value of new graduate nurses work stress was 27, with the minimum and maximum score 8-40. The factors that have been eligible for the multivariate analysis of new graduate nurses work stress reduction were age and the mentoring programs. The result of the multivariate test showed that nurse ages together with the mentoring program had significant effect to the decreased of new graduate nurses work stress (p-value = 0,007). Discussion: Has increased of ages have been improved adaptability and positive response to stressors. The mentoring was the process of coaching for the new graduate nurses. Mentoring can be used as a support system for new graduate nurses in facing the transition from student to being nurses. The combination of increased the ages and the mentoring programs have been reduced the new graduate nurses work stress.

Abstract

Introduction : Regular intervention of diabetic  foot ulcers is wound care. Patients often complain of pain when nurse performs wound care. If the pain is not resolved it will result in anxiety feeling. A routine intervention conducted so far is intra-breath in intervention to reduce pain, as it is expected by reducing the pain it will be followed by a decrease of patients’ anxiety. Intra-breath intervention has not been able to reduce pain quickly on a moderate scale, especially high-scale so it is necessary to find out other alternative interventions. The available comparative intervention is TENS. The purpose of this study is to know the difference between intra-breath and TENS intervention in the level of anxiety in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy in diabetic foot ulcer treatment. Method : This study used RCT method on 28 respondents divided into 14 intervention groups and 14 control groups. The anxiety of respondents was assessed using Hamilton Scale of Anxiety tools before and after conductin TENS intervention and intra-breath. TENS intervention was given for 15 minutes at a frequency of 100 Hz and intra-breath was given until the wound care intervention was completed. Result : The results showed that there was significant average difference of anxiety level between the use of TENS intervention and the use of intra-breath intervention in intervention group and the control group with value of P <0.05. TENS can reduce the level of anxiety with the value of P 0.000, while intra -breath is able to lower the level of anxiety with the value of P 0.006. Discussion : The respondents admitted the difficulty of experience maximum relaxation when wound care is done, this condition is related to the comfortable position of respondents. When wound care is done, the respondents can not relax maximaly because many of the foot that has ulcers should be padded with a pillow to maximize the treatment. Provision of TENS with a frecuency of 100 Hz is corresponding to the body’s bioelectricity, the patients that receive TENS intervention may become more rrelaxed with endorphine hormone release and decreasing of pain because the electricity blocks pain implans in the neural tube.
