Abstract

The performance of nurses plays a crucial role in determining the quality of health services in hospitals. This study aims to examine the effect of motivation and work environment on nurses’ performance at Tidore Islands City General Hospital. The total population consisted of 160 nurses, and the sample size was determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table, resulting in 113 respondents. A quantitative research design was applied, and data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. Multiple linear regression analysis, along with t-tests and F-tests, was employed to assess the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The results indicate that both motivation (X1) and work environment (X2) have a positive and significant impact on nurses’ performance. These findings suggest that when nurses are provided with adequate motivation and supported by a conducive work environment, their performance improves significantly. Conversely, insufficient motivation and poor working conditions can lead to a decline in performance levels. The study emphasizes the importance of hospital management in creating strategies to enhance motivation and improve the work environment as a means to optimize nurses’ performance. These implications are particularly relevant for hospital administrators and policymakers aiming to strengthen human resource management in the healthcare sector.

Abstract

Paradiplomacy serves as a crucial instrument for strengthening regional capacities to engage globally and accelerate development based on local potential. This study aims to analyze the role of paradiplomacy as a bridge for accelerating development in the City of Tidore Kepulauan, focusing on its opportunities, challenges, and strategic policy directions for sustainable implementation. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, employing literature review and limited field observation as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through the reduction, display, and conclusion-drawing stages, and validated through source triangulation. The results reveal that paradiplomacy in the City of Tidore Kepulauan holds significant potential to enhance international cooperation in historical tourism, education, environmental management, and local investment. Cultural diplomacy initiatives—such as collaboration with the Embassy of Spain and the City of Seville—demonstrate concrete efforts to promote history-based regional diplomacy. However, the findings also indicate several structural challenges, including limited institutional capacity, inadequate human resources, and weak policy integration between local and central governments. Therefore, strengthening local diplomatic institutions, improving bureaucratic competencies, and ensuring multi-level policy synergy are essential prerequisites for effective paradiplomacy governance. These findings are expected to contribute both academically and practically by providing strategic insights for regional governments in designing adaptive and sustainable paradiplomacy policies.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of marketing communication on consumers’ purchase intention toward Herbalife products in Tidore. The research was conducted to understand how marketing communication efforts—such as message clarity, credibility, and channel effectiveness—affect consumers’ behavioral intentions in a localized market context. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to Herbalife consumers in Tidore. A simple linear regression analysis was employed to test the hypothesized relationship between marketing communication and purchase intention. The results revealed a positive but statistically insignificant relationship, indicating that while effective communication contributes to forming consumer awareness and interest, it may not directly lead to purchase intention without the support of other influencing factors such as trust, satisfaction, or perceived product value. Theoretically, the findings reinforce the importance of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) principles, which emphasize consistency and credibility across multiple communication channels. Practically, the study suggests that Herbalife distributors should focus on relationship-based communication, transparent product education, and authentic testimonials to build stronger consumer trust and engagement. Limitations of this study include the narrow geographical scope and the use of a single independent variable, which may not capture the full dynamics of consumer purchase behavior.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive systematic and critical review of the competency-based education (CBE) reform movement across developing countries. Over the past two decades, CBE has emerged as a global paradigm shift emphasizing learning outcomes, skill mastery, and lifelong adaptability. Yet, despite its conceptual appeal, the translation of CBE into effective educational practice in developing contexts remains highly uneven. Drawing upon 112 peer-reviewed journal articles and policy documents published between 2000 and 2025, this review explores three major themes: (1) the philosophical and policy foundations of CBE reform; (2) the implementation challenges faced by education systems with limited institutional capacity; and (3) the pedagogical and assessment innovations required for competency-based learning to succeed. Findings reveal that while CBE reform has stimulated discourse on educational quality, equity, and employability, its enactment often suffers from misalignment between curriculum design, teacher training, and evaluation systems. The paper concludes by proposing a multidimensional framework for rethinking CBE reform that integrates local knowledge, cultural contextualization, and systemic governance approaches. This review contributes to global educational reform scholarship by highlighting the dialectic tension between global policy transfer and contextual adaptation in developing world settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of an Indigenous cultural-based learning (ICBL) approach in enhancing spatial reasoning among Canadian secondary school students. Recognizing that spatial thinking is a foundational skill for mathematics, science, and geography education, the research explores how integrating Indigenous cultural knowledge—particularly First Nations’ geometric patterns, Inuit mapping traditions, and Métis beadwork symmetry—can support students’ conceptual understanding of spatial relationships. A quasi-experimental design was implemented with 238 Grade 9 students from two public secondary schools in British Columbia. The experimental group received twelve weeks of geometry instruction incorporating Indigenous cultural contexts, while the control group followed a conventional curriculum. Spatial reasoning was measured using the Purdue Spatial Visualization Test: Rotation (PSVT:R) and a spatial problem-solving assessment developed for this study. ANCOVA results revealed a significant improvement in spatial reasoning scores in the experimental group (F(1,235)=18.72, p<0.001, η²=0.074), indicating that culturally embedded pedagogies effectively enhanced students’ spatial understanding. Qualitative feedback from students also highlighted greater engagement, cultural appreciation, and cognitive flexibility. The findings contribute to growing evidence on the pedagogical value of cultural responsiveness in STEM education and underscore the importance of integrating Indigenous knowledge as a legitimate epistemological framework in Canadian classrooms.
