Abstract

The achievement of sustainable development, which is essential for preserving a healthy world for future generations, depends on the implementation of efficient global governance. Traditional, nation-state-focused approaches struggle to address difficulties that cross borders. In contrast, global governance structures facilitate collaboration by establishing frameworks—such as the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations—and unite a wide range of actors—including businesses, governments, and nations—to exchange resources, expertise, and optimal methodologies. This collaborative effort is essential to tackle complex issues like climate change and poverty, ultimately paving the way for a more sustainable future. This paper will discuss the roles and responsibilities of significant actors contribute largely on sustainable development, focusing on the emerging trend of global governance in the international order. By taking the case of UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, key problems for the public sector and private one will be identified and also provide some further suggestions in improving the implementation of sustainable development.

Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics between economic growth and key determinants, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to poverty reduction (SDG 1) and affordable clean energy (SDG 7), as well as Idiosyncratic Risk, in ASEAN countries. Utilizing regression analysis, the research uncovers intriguing insights into these relationships. The findings reveal a significant positive association between Idiosyncratic Risk and economic growth, indicating that higher levels of idiosyncratic risk are linked with greater economic activity and innovation. However, the analysis suggests that SDG 1 (No Poverty) initiatives do not directly impact economic growth within the model's framework, highlighting the need for further exploration of indirect effects. Additionally, the promotion of SDG 7 (Affordable Clean Energy) exhibits a statistically significant but negative relationship with economic growth, possibly due to initial investments in clean energy infrastructure. These findings underscore the complex interplay between sustainable development goals, idiosyncratic risk, and economic growth in the ASEAN region, offering valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to foster inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

This study investigates how young people's social life are impacted by Monopoly Go! in the context of digital gaming. With the goal of analysing the game's communication elements, engagement reasons, and social repercussions, it fills knowledge gaps about the societal ramifications of digital games on social interaction. The literature study examines the evolution of Monopoly Go! from a classic board game to a mobile app, emphasising the game's ability to foster social connections even when players are separated by great distances. Through qualitative techniques including content analysis and in-depth interviews, the study looks into how the game affects young people's social connections. The game's ability to start talks, bring friends back together after the pandemic, and encourage peer influence and teamwork motivations is demonstrated by the findings. On the other hand, disputes that occur during in-game exchanges and the impact of in-game item commercialization on fair play are causes for concern. Future study should diversify its participant pool, ethical norms for community behaviour should be put in place, and the effects of commercialization on social dynamics inside gaming communities should be investigated. These revelations provide light on the intricate social dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and moral dilemmas present in online gaming environments.

Abstract

Since 2014, there has been a massive increase in infrastructure development. The interesting thing about this industry is a decrease in the share price of these companies, especially state-owned companies that are mostly working on the infrastructure development. According to this phenomenon, a study was conducted to determine the effect of corporate governance and the characteristics of the board of directors on firm value which is a reflection of value of share in the market price. The characteristics of the board of directors consist of age, gender, tenure, and educational background. The audit committee, independent commissioners, and the board of commissioners are proxies for corporate governance. The data used are state-owned infrastructure companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015-2022. The number of companies is 8 companies. The analysis uses multiple regression analysis, and they processed with Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS version 29). The results of this study indicate that the audit committee, age of directors, and educational background of directors have a significant effect on firm value. Meanwhile, the independent commissioners, board of commissioners, gender of directors, and tenure of directors do not affect firm value. The conclusion is that the role of the audit committee and the age and education of the board of directors play an important role in firm value. This study implies that the selection of the audit committee and the age and educational background of board members are the prominent focus of recruitment in a company to increase firm value.
