Abstract

This study analyzes public knowledge regarding household waste management in Batu Gajah Subdistrict, Sirimau District, Ambon City. In the context of increasing household waste volume due to population growth and economic activities, this study aims to assess the public's understanding of the importance of waste separation and recycling. A descriptive research method was used, with a sample representing 10% of the total population randomly selected from heads of households in each neighborhood unit (RT). Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results indicate that most respondents understand the difference between organic and non-organic waste, but knowledge of plastic recycling techniques and composting still needs to be improved. Additionally, most of the community is aware of the negative environmental impacts of burning waste, although practices related to electronic waste management remain minimal. This study highlights the need to improve education and public participation in waste management through collaboration between local governments and communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the settlement pattern formation in Batu Meja RT 005 RW 002. The primary issue is the steep topography and limited infrastructure, such as roads, water, and waste disposal systems, which affect settlement patterns and community accessibility. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation to explore residents' perceptions of their settlement patterns. The findings reveal that, despite challenges related to difficult access, the community has made independent efforts to build simple infrastructure like footpaths and retaining walls (tallit) to mitigate landslide risks. The study concludes that topography and infrastructure significantly impact the settlement pattern in this area. The implications suggest that government intervention is necessary to provide better infrastructure and spatial planning policies that support safe and sustainable settlements.

Abstract

Tourism development in Lerohoilim Village, Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku, holds great potential for improving the local economy. However, the impacts of this development are not yet fully understood, particularly in the context of economic and social sustainability. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that tourism development has positive effects, such as increased income for the community through small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in accommodation, food stalls, and handicrafts. Furthermore, tourism creates new job opportunities for local residents. However, challenges remain in preserving the environment and local culture due to the surge in tourist visits. In conclusion, tourism development in Lerohoilim Village must continue to improve through sustainable planning and active community participation to ensure equitable economic benefits while preserving the local ecosystem and culture. The implication is that successful sustainable tourism development could serve as a model for other villages in Maluku.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Fruity Loops (FL Studio) software in enhancing students' creativity in creating backsound for geography learning content. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with students as subjects who utilize Fruity Loops to create background music relevant to the learning material. The results show that the use of Fruity Loops significantly improves students' creativity, especially in processing natural sounds and music that support the learning atmosphere. Features such as loop patterns, VST plugins, and various sound effects help students create dynamic and interactive music compositions. In addition, this study also identifies that Fruity Loops is effective in helping students understand digital music production techniques and preventing plagiarism by creating original music. Thus, Fruity Loops not only enhances students' creativity in producing background music but also supports a more interactive and engaging learning process. This research contributes to the development of digital music technology in education, particularly in creating richer and more varied learning content.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of high waves on the socioeconomic conditions of coastal communities in Dusun Nusa Lay, Asilulu Village, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency. The community in this area largely relies on the sea as their primary source of income, but high waves often disrupt their fishing activities, significantly affecting their economic and social well-being. This research utilized primary data obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and direct observations, as well as secondary data from relevant literature. The sample consisted of 30 heads of households directly involved in fishing activities. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression tests to measure the impact of high waves on the income, education, health, and transportation of the community. The results show that high waves have a significant impact on the decline in income, accessibility to education, health, and transportation for coastal communities. Additionally, high waves increase the social and psychological pressures experienced by the community. In conclusion, mitigation efforts involving infrastructure improvement, education, and government policy interventions are necessary to enhance the resilience of coastal communities against the impacts of high waves and climate change.

Abstract

The water quality in Batu Merah, Sirimau District, Ambon City, which is dominated by hilly and mountainous topography, remains a significant concern. The local community largely relies on borewell water to meet their clean water needs, but their understanding of the water quality is still limited. This descriptive qualitative study involved collecting water samples from the field, which were then analyzed in a laboratory to evaluate physical, chemical, and biological parameters. The results showed that the borewell water quality does not fully meet the required standards. In borewell sample 1, the manganese levels exceeded the permitted maximum, while borewell sample 2 revealed a total coliform count of 1600, and sample 3 recorded a total coliform count of 70, both exceeding the allowable limit of 50 per 100 ml. Therefore, the borewell water in this area has not yet fully met the clean water quality standards as outlined in the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 20 of 2023 and Ministry of Health Regulation No. 416/Menkes/Per/IX/199, particularly regarding chemical and biological parameters.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality and quantity of well water in Sifnana Village, South Tanimbar District, Tanimbar Islands Regency. Dug wells are the community's primary source of clean water, especially due to insufficient PDAM services. However, there is variation in the water quality produced by these wells. Some wells provide water that is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, while others are contaminated by dirt and coliform bacteria. Factors such as the distance between wells and pollution sources and environmental cleanliness significantly affect water quality. Regarding quantity, tidal fluctuations also play a major role, with well water levels decreasing drastically during low tides. Therefore, the community must improve well maintenance and environmental sanitation to ensure the water quality remains safe for consumption
