Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is a disease in which the body is able to produce insulin but not as much or less than needed. Behavior towards prevention and control depends on family support for compliance with blood sugar control in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Emotional support is a very influential support in this study, with emotional support DM patients feel cared for and appreciated in the treatment process. The purpose of this study was to analyze whether there is a relationship between family support and compliance with blood sugar control in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 at the Pekauman Banjarmasin Health Center. The study used a quantitative method with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach on 48 respondents with type 2 diabetes mellitus using a purposive sampling technique using a family support questionnaire and diabetes mellitus control. The hypothesis was analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results of this study were 32 people (64.0%) with high family support and 42 people (84.0%) adhered to blood sugar control and the results of the hypothesis test showed a p value =0.001 <0.05. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between family support and compliance with blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers. The higher the support given to members who are sick or in the process of healing their illness, the more positive impact it will have on the health of its members and will give rise to positive behaviors.

Abstract

Tidal floods are one of the natural disasters that are increasingly occurring in Indonesia's coastal areas due to rising sea levels and climate change. Hamlet II, Tanjung Rejo Village, which is in the lowlands, is one of the areas that is vulnerable to tidal floods. This study aims to evaluate the level of community knowledge regarding preparedness in facing the risk of tidal floods. The methods used include pre-conditioning, education, discussion and evaluation stages. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in community knowledge after the socialization was carried out. Before the socialization, only 14 out of 50 respondents understood preparedness steps, but this number increased to 43 respondents after the activity took place. This increase indicates that education and outreach programs are effective in increasing public awareness of preparedness for tidal floods.

Abstract

Menstruation can cause significant disturbances for women. Menstruation usually begins with pain called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is a condition of severe pain and can interfere with daily activities in women, especially adolescent girls. One safe and easy non-pharmacological therapy is the administration of green coconut water. This scientific paper was conducted to determine nursing care for adolescent girls with dysmenorrhea pain problems. Implications can be given during the first day of menstruation, drink 2 times a day, 1 glass (200cc), morning and evening, for 3 consecutive days. During the meeting, the nurse provided education and a demonstration of how to administer green coconut water, an evaluation of the action, adolescent girls who initially experienced dysmenorrhea pain with a pain scale of 5 and 6 after the action decreased to a scale of 1 and 0. This shows that the administration of green coconut water is very effective in reducing dysmenorrhea pain. It is hoped that this research can be used for health services, nursing education and the community to overcome dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Aging is a progressive process that affects the functionality and maximum capacity of all organs, including the skin. In the elderly population (age >65), skin aging leads to conditions like xerosis senilis, pruritus senilis, and senile comedones, which are commonly observed. Xerosis senilis, or dry skin, results from impaired skin barrier function, increased transepidermal water loss, reduced skin hydration, and decreased lipid components such as ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids in the stratum corneum. These factors make the skin more susceptible to infections, ulcerations, and chronic wounds. This condition manifests as dry, fissured, and rough skin, particularly on the extremities, and can progress to inflammation or infections, impacting quality of life through discomfort, stress, and daily activity interference. Xerosis affects approximately 50% of the elderly, with global prevalence ranging from 29.5% to 85%, correlating with increased age. While the exact risk factors for xerosis senilis remain unclear, genetic, environmental, and comorbid conditions such as hypertension, renal impairment, and diabetes mellitus are implicated. This review examines these risk factors and their mechanisms in contributing to xerosis senilis in the elderly population.
