Gadung tubers or Dioscorea hispida are tubers that originally grew in the forest and are used as alternative food ingredients to replace rice and corn. One of the preparations from gadung tubers that is popular with the community is gadung tuber crackers. The purpose of this study was to determine the cyanide content in gadung root crackers. In this study, 3 samples were sold in Pelem Village, Tulungagung Regency. Cyanide analysis was carried out by qualitative test using picrate paper and quantitative test using complex formation titration. The cyanide content in the sample was 2.124 mg/kg; 0.9 mg/kg; 1,386 mg/kg.

Abstract

Abstract:. Cleome Gynandra L. (called as “Maman” in Riau) is a traditional medicine used for diabetes, anti-aging, anti-cancer and cardiovascular diseases prevention. This research aimed to find out the activities of Fermented Maman on blood glucose concentrations of hyperglycemic male white rats. The study was an experimental research, using the Post Test Only Control Group Design, that carried out 5 months at Riau Ministry of Health Poltekkes Laboratory. Data were analayzed by ANOVA Multivariate than continued with Duncan multiple range test. The results of this study indicate that Fermented Maman can reduce blood sugar levels but, the metformin group had a higher reduction compared to the control group negative, positive and Fermented Maman. Metformin reduces blood sugar levels better than Fermented Maman. It is necessary to add the time of Fermented Maman and research used metformin with simultaneous fermentation in groups of male white rats with dosage variations.

Abstract

Abstract: Hypertension is a common blood vessel disease suffered by the community, characterized by an increase in systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg. Objective: This study aimed to found out the correlation between family history, consumption patterns of dietary fat and sodium and physical activity with the incidence of hypertension in the work area of ??the Lolo Health Center, Paser Regency. Methods: This research is an analytic observational with a cross sectional design. The population is the entire population aged 35-59 years. Samples were taken as many as 48 people with accidental sampling technique. Data collection was collected through interviews with questionnaires. Results: based on the results of the study showed that there was a relationship between family history (p=0.018), dietary fat consumption patterns (p=0.001), physical activity (p=0.003) with the incidence of hypertension, and there was no relationship between consumption patterns of sodium with the incidence of hypertension (p=0.099). Conclusion: respondents are expected to check their blood pressure regularly, limit the consumption of foods that contain high fat and sodium by replacing increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and routinely doing physical activities.

Abstract

Poor peripheral circulation in patients with diabetes mellitus causes wounds to be difficult to heal. Therefore, patients with diabetes mellitus with diabetic ulcers require wound care to reduce the risk of amputation. One alternative material that can be used for wound care is the topical application of pure honey. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of honey dressing on the healing process of diabetic ulcers through a literature review. The databases used include PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda. Keywords using (((honey) OR honey dressing) AND wound healing) AND diabetic ulcer) OR diabetic foot ulcer. The library sources used are from 2010-2020. The search results obtained 9,507 articles. Furthermore, articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtained 11 articles. The assessment of articles uses a checklist on the JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) assessment list. Eleven articles that met the assessment criteria were then analyzed one by one. The results showed that eleven articles showed the effect of giving honey dressing on the healing process of diabetic ulcers. A total of 3 articles showed wound healing based on changes in score, 2 articles based on changes in grade, 5 articles based on changes in wound characteristics, and 2 articles based on healing time. Of the eleven journals analyzed, honey dressing on diabetic ulcers were most effectively used in wound Grade I and II (Wagner Classification) ulcer patients who received drug therapy with a GDS <200 mg/dL and received daily wound care for 1 month. Healthcare professionals may consider using honey dressings for the treatment of diabetic ulcers. In addition to a more affordable price, honey has good benefits for wound healing. Further research is needed on the type of honey that is more effective as an ingredient in wound care.
