Abstract

China's history shows that China's acceptance of international norms comes not only from the national interest but also influenced by the political system and social values that have shaped its relationship with Southeast Asia over 2000 years. Today Southeast Asia is still based on the question of how to adapt to new developments in Asia that are uncertain about how to defend themselves against and manage their country to face global markets and national power that have imperial potential. There has been a considerable amount of history written these two centuries to remind the local leaders to cooperate with each other. It is time to consolidate Southeast Asian regional groupings that can protect the long-term interests of the region.

Abstract

This qualitative research aims to analyze the cause of the spatial movements perpetrated by the Moro Muslim community in Southern Philippines. This departs from the writer's assumption that the separatist movement is not merely a desire for secession but of other factors driving the movement of the separatist movement. The results of the analysis in this study indicate that there are three things that cause Muslim societies Moro do separatist movement. First, there is bad experience in the context of history. Initially, the Muslim community was the majority in the Philippines, but after the arrival of the Spanish to colonize the Philippines there were apostasy actions that were carried out in various ways so that in the end the Filipino Muslims became a minority. In addition, during the colonial period the United States had imposed all discriminative policies against Muslims. Second, the existence of a series of crimes against humanity experienced by post-independence Philippine Muslims, including jabidah, upi, barrio, and buldon event that shows violence against Muslims. Third, there is a failure of efforts by the government to resolve the conflict in the Southern Philippines. This is marked by the failure of the government to grant autonomy rights to Muslim areas because it continues to participate in development in the region but does not provide for the welfare of the Muslim community. In fact, the data indicate social inequality between areas that show that Moro Muslims are in the poorest position.

Abstract

This paper tries to trace how China revived the Ancient Silk Road and how it has redefined relations with other countries in the world, including Indonesia. Under President Xi Jinping, China revived the concept of the Silk Road through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) policy. BRI has two main parts, the land silk route known as the Silk Road Economic Belt and the sea route known as the Maritime Silk Road. The revival of the silk route has its charm so that many countries, including Indonesia, welcome BRI's presence. But before Indonesia gets involved further in the BRI, it is crucial for Indonesia to examine the extent to which the ideologies and values carried out in the reconstruction of the BRI concept threatens or benefits Indonesia's interests. Through a study of the discourse and views of Chinese leaders, this paper will explore how the traditional values of the silk road are modified to conform to the values of modern cooperation and trade to suit China ambition to be a great power.

The result shows that through the multi-track diplomacy, the peacemaking process will be conducted by state and non-state actors in a scattered-activities frame, then peace will spill over from the government to the society and vice versa.
