This study aims to analyze the Tembilahan community's understanding of fintech and how fintech-based insurance services work, and to identify the factors influencing it. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with Tembilahan residents selected using purposive sampling. The results indicate that the community generally only understands fintech as a digital payment service and does not yet understand the mechanisms. Service digital insurance. Low digital financial literacy, limited information, and perceived risks regarding data security and the claims process are the main factors contributing to this low understanding. Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged the emergence of app-based financial services, including digital insurance. However, the level of public acceptance and trust in app-based insurance remains varied, particularly in areas such as Tembilahan. This study aims to determine and analyze public trust in app-based insurance in Tembilahan and the factors that influence it. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and observations of people who are aware of or use app-based insurance. The results show that the level of public trust in app-based insurance is still in the sufficient category. Financial literacy and digital literacy play an important role in shaping public trust, while risk perception, particularly related to data security and clarity of the claims process, are the main inhibiting factors. In addition, ease of use of the application and transparency of services contribute to increasing public trust. This research is expected to be a consideration for digital insurance providers and related parties in increasing public trust in app-based insurance services. Abstract

The development of financial technology (fintech) offers significant opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access financial services, particularly in the investment sector. However, low levels of digital and financial literacy remain major challenges affecting the safe and optimal use of fintech investment services. This study aims to analyze the levels of digital and financial literacy among MSMEs and their impact on fintech investment use in the Tembilahan area. This study used a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with three business and community informants with varying experiences in using fintech investment services. The research results show that understanding and utilization of fintech investment in the Tembilahan community has begun to grow, particularly among individuals with better digital and financial literacy. Ease of use of the application, trust in the platform, which is supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and perceived security are the main drivers of interest in using fintech investment. However, low financial literacy and a lack of education still hinder some residents from making rational investment decisions. This study concludes that financial and digital literacy play a crucial role in shaping interest and behavior in using fintech investment, and contribute to improving the performance and sustainability of MSMEs. Therefore, ongoing and contextual efforts to improve financial and digital literacy education are needed to encourage the safe, inclusive, and sustainable use of fintech investment in the Tembilahan area.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven changes in the community's payment system through the use of digital payment applications or e-wallets. In Tembilahan, the community has utilized various digital payment applications in their daily transactions. However, the community's understanding of the term e-wallet as a digital payment concept is formed through their experience of using the application and the surrounding social context. This study aims to understand the Tembilahan community's understanding of the term e-wallet in the use of digital payment applications. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of the Tembilahan community who use digital payment applications. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the public understands e-wallets based on the functions and experience of using digital payment applications, rather than based on a formal understanding of the term. This understanding is influenced by usage habits, social interactions, access to information, and digital financial literacy. This study is expected to provide a contextual overview of the public's understanding of e-wallets and serve as a consideration in the development of digital financial literacy programs that are more suited to the characteristics of the community.
