Abstract

Sanitation is a crucial aspect of the rubber processing industry because it plays a role in maintaining product quality, a clean work environment, and the health of workers. This study aims to describe the implementation of sanitation in the rubber processing industry at PT. XYZ, including sanitation of the work environment, sanitation of production processes and equipment, and sanitation of workers. The study used a descriptive method with an observational approach through direct observation, interviews, and documentation in the production area and supporting facilities. Data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively in the form of narrative descriptions. The results indicate that PT. XYZ has implemented sanitation through routine cleaning of production areas, environmental management around the factory, cleaning of production equipment at every stage of the process, and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers. However, sanitation implementation has not been optimal due to inconsistent use of PPE, incomplete cleaning of equipment, especially in hard-to-reach machine parts, and limited personal hygiene facilities such as handwashing stations and changing rooms in some work areas. Therefore, increased supervision, improved equipment cleaning methods, and the provision of more adequate sanitation facilities are needed to support a clean, safe work environment and support the quality of rubber products.

Abstract

A generator set (genset) is a critical supporting equipment for ensuring the continuity of electrical power supply; therefore, its reliability highly depends on the maintenance system applied. One of the common problems encountered is high downtime caused by recurrent failures that are not detected at an early stage. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing a preventive maintenance checklist in reducing genset downtime. The research method employed a comparative study by analyzing downtime data before and after the implementation of the preventive maintenance checklist. Data were collected from failure records, downtime duration, and maintenance activities during March–May 2025 (before implementation) and June–August 2025 (after implementation). The results indicate that the number of failures decreased from five to two occurrences, while total downtime was reduced from 600 minutes to 120 minutes, representing a 80% reduction. This reduction demonstrates that the preventive maintenance checklist improves inspection discipline, enables early detection of potential failures, and minimizes operational disruptions of the genset. Therefore, the preventive maintenance checklist is proven to be an effective maintenance control tool for enhancing genset reliability and reducing operational downtime.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memanfaatkan minyak goreng kelapa sawit sebagai bahan baku pembuatan sabun cair melalui reaksi saponifikasi menggunakan kalium hidroksida (KOH). Variasi volume aquades sebesar 350 mL, 400 mL, dan 500 mL digunakan untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik sabun cair. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pH, viskositas, daya busa, dan daya bersih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa volume aquades memengaruhi sifat fisik sabun cair, terutama kekentalan dan kestabilan busa. Variasi 500 mL menghasilkan sabun cair dengan karakteristik paling baik dan seimbang. Seluruh sabun cair yang dihasilkan memiliki daya bersih yang baik dengan pH bersifat basa.

Abstract

Penggunaan plastik berbasis petrokimia secara masif telah menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan akibat sifatnya yang sulit terurai. Bioplastik berbasis biomassa terbarukan menjadi alternatif yang menjanjikan. Indonesia sebagai produsen kelapa sawit menghasilkan limbah tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) dalam jumlah besar yang mengandung selulosa tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis selulosa dari TKKS, mengonversinya menjadi selulosa asetat, serta mengaplikasikannya sebagai bahan baku bioplastik menggunakan metode solution casting dengan variasi gelatin. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental di laboratorium. Selulosa diisolasi melalui tahapan hidrolisis asam, delignifikasi, dan pulping alkali, kemudian dikonversi menjadi selulosa asetat melalui reaksi asetilasi. Bioplastik dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi selulosa asetat 0, 1, dan 3% (b/v) dengan penambahan gelatin. Karakterisasi bioplastik dilakukan melalui uji mikrobiologi, swelling, dan uji tahan panas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa selulosa asetat dari TKKS dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku bioplastik yang bersifat biodegradable dan memiliki karakteristik fisik yang memadai. Penelitian ini membuktikan potensi TKKS sebagai sumber bahan baku bioplastik ramah lingkungan.
