Abstract

The structure of the cage system is one of the factors determining the comfort of broiler chickens when reared. So it is necessary to pay attention to the cage model that is built appropriately to obtain optimal broiler chicken performance. This research aims to test and analyze the effectiveness of the performance of broiler chickens kept in rack and litter cage models. This research was carried out at Egi Farm, Blitar Regency, using 2 different cage models, namely rack and litter cage models. Data were analyzed using the Independent samples T-test. The parameters taken in this study were feed consumtion, body weight gain (PBB), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and mortality. The research results showed that the use of 2 different cage models, namely the rack and litter cage models, had an influence on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and mortality. The rack cage model obtained better chicken performance results with an average value of feed consumption during rearing of 1072.67 grams/head, a body weight gain value of 56.59 grams/head and an FCR value of 1.39. Meanwhile, litter cages had an average feed consumption value of 1017.45 grams/head, body weight gain of 50.67 grams/head and FCR value of 1.47. The rack cage model has a lower mortality rate than the litter cage model. Broiler chickens reared in rack style cages performed better compared to litter model cages

Abstract

Broiler chicken farming is a business that is easy for everyone to run. Independent broiler chicken farming businesses often face higher risks, one of the factors being the selling price which tends to be below the cost of goods sold, so farmers often experience losses. Partnership pattern broiler chicken farming is a way to reduce existing risks. Income is one of the important references for breeders to continue their partnership business. The general public must know the income earned by breeders from partnership farming businesses. Research conducted at Marioto Farm used descriptive quantitative methods by describing the results of farmers' income during six production periods. The results of the research obtained show that the total production costs were IDR 510,809,226. Meanwhile, the revenue obtained during the six production periods by partnering with partnerships was IDR 550,484,370. The income received by farmers while running a partnership system livestock business is IDR 41,626,545. The income obtained is income for six production periods. The R/C ratio value obtained shows a result of 1.08, indicating that this livestock business is suitable to be continued. The production BEP obtained during the six production periods was 22,496 kg and the BEP price was IDR 21,031. The conclusion of this research is that the income of farmers by partnering with partnerships earns a total income of IDR 41,626,545. This is quite a large amount for home scale farming. The livestock business in partnership deserves to be continued again

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in feeder space on weight gain and uniformity of laying hens in the grower phase of the closed house system. The study was conducted in a closed house owned by PT Jatinom Indah Farm with 180 Isa brown chicken strains in Slorok Village, Doko District, Blitar Regency, which began on February 25, 2024 and ended on April 28, 2024. The experiment was conducted using the Posttest-Only Control Design method where the treatment was only in the experimental class and the control class was used for comparison objects. Observations were made after the chickens were 7 weeks to 16 weeks old. The observation parameters included weight gain and uniformity. The results showed that the treatment using different feeder spaces did not show a significant value on the weight gain of laying hens in the grower phase (P> 0.05). With the average result of weight gain of the control class of 82.76 gr and in the experimental class of 82.39 gr. However, the treatment with different feeder space showed a significant value on the uniformity of laying hens in the grower phase (P <0.05). With the average result of uniformity of the control class of 86.94% and in the experimental class of 93.47%.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of adding cinnamon on the organoleptic quality of yogurt made from Peranakan Etawa (PE) goat milk. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method was used to manage variations between samples, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed to determine significant differences between treatments. The findings revealed no statistically significant differences in organoleptic aspects such as visual appearance, aroma, color, and texture. However, panelists preferred yogurt with 2.5% cinnamon, indicating that this concentration may enhance the sensory appeal of yogurt by imparting a warm aroma and sweet flavor. The results suggest that while no significant differences were observed, the addition of cinnamon at this level can improve the overall sensory experience. Future research is recommended to explore a wider range of cinnamon concentrations and different types of cinnamon, as well as using a larger and more diverse panel to obtain more representative data.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the production of compost from goat manure with the addition of oyster mushroom substrate (baglog) and EM4. Composting is an effective method of recycling organic waste and improving soil fertility, making it a vital aspect of sustainable agriculture. This study focuses on determining the best mixture of goat manure and baglog in producing high-quality compost, which could serve as an alternative to chemical fertilizers. The research method utilized involved distributing questionnaires to 47 panelists who were tasked with evaluating the quality of the compost based on three sensory attributes: texture, color, and odor. These attributes are critical indicators of compost maturity and usability in agricultural applications. Each treatment was repeated three times to ensure consistent and reliable results. The organoleptic (sensory) test results indicated that the best treatment was P2, which contained 50% goat manure and 50% baglog. This mixture produced compost with the most favorable characteristics in terms of texture, color, and odor compared to other treatments. The combination of organic materials appeared to complement each other well, creating a balanced compost suitable for improving soil quality and plant growth. It is recommended that future research include laboratory tests to analyze the nutrient composition of the compost more precisely. Additionally, field trials should be conducted to test the compost's effectiveness in various agricultural settings and crops, ensuring its practicality as a sustainable alternative to synthetic fertilizers
