Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the stereotypes attached to urban female characters and discuss the reactions of urban female characters to the stereotypes attached to the novel Kami (bukan) Fakir Asmara by J.S. Khairen. This research uses Feminist Sociology theory which links the analysis of literary works with social phenomena and realities. This research is literary study with descriptive methods. The data collection technique in this research was managed by reading the novel intensively, identified the data, and taking an inventory of the data into a data collection format. The data analysis technique is carried out through content analysis.Based on the research results, there are five negative stereotypes attached to urban female characters in novels. The purpose of these stereotypes is to give women the opportunity to reduce their movement. The two reactions found were a reaction of approval and a reaction of disagreement. These two reactions prove that the existence and voice of women is an effort to oppose patriarchy which is detrimental to women. These reactions are a symbol that women bravely show their identity.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of use of code switching and code mixing, the factors that cause code switching and codel mixing, andl the function of codel switching andl code mixingl in thel film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The object of this research is the dialogue that leads to code switching and code mixing in the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens, which consists of 49 data. Data collection was carried out using the listening method, using advanced techniques in the form of (1) note-taking techniques and (2) data transcription techniques. The results of the research show that (1) the type of code switching used in the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens consists of two forms, namely internal code switching and external code switching, (2) the causal factors that occur are, the place and time the speech is carried out, the mode of conversation, and topic of conversation, (3) the functions that occur, namely, explaining, asking, confirming, and reminding. The use of code mixing consists of two types, namely internal code mixing and external code mixing, the factors that cause code mixing in the film Ali & Ratul Ratu Queens are speaker factors, and linguistic factors, and finally the function of code mixing in the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens, namely accuracy of meaning or feeling, argumentative, persuasive, short and easy to pronounce, and polite and polite.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe: (1) the form of physiological needs of the main character in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen, (2) the form of the main character's need for security in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen, (3) the form of need to be loved and a feeling of love for the main character in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen, (4) the form of need for a sense of appreciation and respect for the main character in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen, and (5) the form of self-actualization needs of the main character in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen. The type of research used is literary research with descriptive methods. The object used in this research is the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen. Based on the research conducted, it was found that there are 4 forms of physiological needs, 5 forms of the need for security, 4 forms of the need to feel loved and loving, 3 forms of the need for a sense of esteem and appreciation, and 1 form of the need for self-actualization of the main character in the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S. Khairen.

Abstract

The novel Retak by Azhara Natasya tells about the complexity of the life of the character Gladys which results in her mental health being seriously disturbed. Starting from his life at home where he didn't get love from his parents, his life at school where he became a victim of bullying, to his love life from a different religion. This research aims to describe: (1) the forms of psychological conflict of the main character in the novel Retak by Azhara Natasya, (2) the factors causing the psychological conflict of the main character in the novel Retak by Azhara Natasya, (3) the impact of the psychological conflict of the main character in the novel Retak The work of Azhara Natasya. The type of research is literary research using descriptive methods. The subject used in this research is the novel Retak by Azhara Natasya. Data collection techniques in this research are, (1) reading and understanding the novel, (2) literature study, (3) identifying characters in the novel, (4) marking parts of the story that contain data on the character's psychological conflict, and (5) taking an inventory of the data. into inventory format. There are four data analysis techniques in this research, namely (1) identifying and classifying data, (2) analyzing data, (3) interpreting data, (3) drawing conclusions. The research results obtained are forms of inner conflict of the main character in the novel Retak by Azhara Natasya which are divided into depression, anxiety, feelings of anger, frustration, feelings of insecurity, fear, feelings of inadequacy, heartache. The factors that cause the main character's psychological conflict are divided into the unfulfillment of basic human needs, namely physiological needs, security needs, love and belonging needs, self-esteem, and self-actualization. The impact of the character's psychological conflict is divided into feelings of guilt, self-punishment, and sadness.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the forms of violations of politeness principles that occur in oppressed women genre novels and explain the causes of violations of politeness principles in oppressed genre novels in the novel Beauty is Wounds and the novel women at point Zero. This research uses mixed methods, namely combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The object of this research is all the dialogue of the characters in the novel Beauty is Wounds and the novel women at point Zero. This research uses mixed methods, namely combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The object of this research is all the dialogue of the characters in the novel Beauty is Wounds and the novel women at point Zero. Data collection in this research was a free listening and note taking technique. The research results found 93 data. (1) violations of the principles of language politeness in oppressed women's novels in the women's novels in women at Point Zero and the beauty is wounds consist of 93 data consisting of six maxim violations, namely, violations of the maxim of wisdom, violations of the maxim of generosity, violations of the maxim of praise, violations of the maxim of humility , violation of the maxim of agreement, and violation of the maxim of sympathy, (2) the causes of violations of the principles of language politeness in oppressed women's novels which consist of five factors that cause violations, namely, direct criticism, emotional encouragement, protectiveness of opinions, cornering, and accusation. This research is useful both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, this can provide additional information regarding understanding violations of linguistic politeness maxims and forms of politeness violations in Latin-like languages. In practice, the results of this research can be used in the world of education as a relevant reference/source for further research by pragmatic researchers, especially in cases of violations of linguistic politeness maxims.

Abstract

One of the problems that is often raised in a novel is social conflict. The social conflict contained in a work is one of the interests for readers to enjoy the conflict presented in the literary work. Apart from being enjoyed, this is also an attraction for literary works to be studied. To understand the social conflict contained in a literary work, researchers must understand the character of the characters in the literary work. This research aims to describe the forms, causes and impacts of the representation of social conflict in the novel Kami (bukan) Generasi Bacot by J.S. Khairen. This type of research is literary research with descriptive methods. The data in this research are words, phrases, clauses and sentences that refer to the social conflict contained in the novel Kami (Not) Generasi Bacot by J.S. Khairen. Based on the research results, three forms of social conflict were found, four causes of social conflict, and three impacts of social conflict. The conclusion of this research is from the results of the analysis and interpretation of data in the novel Kami (bukan) Generasi Bacot by J.S. Khairen found 40 pieces of data related to social conflict.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to, (1) describe the form of interjection in animated series Nussa and Rarra. (2) describe the types of interjections in animated series Nussa and Rarra. This research is qualitative research and uses descriptive methods by describing the data found to obtain general conclusions. The data used in this research are sentences containing morphemes, words and interjection phrases which were downloaded through animated series Nussa and Rarra. The first result found is the form of interjection in Nussa and Rarra animated series consists of two forms, the basic form (20 data) and the derivative form (7 data). Second, based on types, eight types were found, (1) exclamation interjections namely ayo, eh, ehm, yuk, halo, (2) astonishment or admiration interjections namely masyaallah, hm, wah, hah, oh, uh, haduh, iya ya, alhamdulillah, lho, (3) sadness interjections namely aduh, uh, hm, (4) sadness interjections namely ih, hm, hadeh, eh, aduh, wah, astagfirullah, (5) disappointment and annoyance interjections namely ih, hm, hadeh, eh, aduh, wah, astagfirullah, (6) surprise interjections namely hah, aduh, wah, eh, astagfirullah, ih, ya ampun, astaghfirullah 'al-‘adziim, waduh masyaallah, ah, (7) relief interjections namely alhamdulillah, nah, haah, aha, hm, insyaallah, and (8) disgust interjection namely ihh.

Abstract

This article aims to describe violations of the principles of linguistic politeness in the comedy drama Lapor Pak in Trans 7. This research is a qualitative linguistic research with descriptive methods by describing the data found to obtain general conclusions. The data used in this research is in the form of speeches from actors in the comedy drama sketch Lapor Pak. Data collection was carried out by: (a) watching video replays on YouTube (b) then transcribing them from oral to written form (c) classifying speech in table format (d) identifying speech formats that violate the six maxims according to Geoffrey Leech. The results of this research show that: 136 types of violations of the principle of wisdom were found, violations of the principle of praise were 162 statements, violations of the principle of humility were 14 statements, and violations of the maxim of sympathy were 34 statements. The Principle of Generosity is not found.

Abstract

As time goes by, the existence of oral literature, namely traditional questions (riddles), is now almost extinct due to increasingly sophisticated technology. If this continues, the consequences will threaten the existence of traditional questions (riddles) in society. The aim of this research is to describe: (a) the structure of traditional questions (riddles) of the Kenagarian Parit community, Koto Balingka District, West Pasaman Regency, (b) categories of traditional questions (riddles), and (c) the social function of traditional questions (riddles). This study employs descriptive qualitative research methods. In order to obtain this data, we first conducted a literature review, then conducted a field research, and finally conducted interviews with key informants in two phases (recording and transcription). There were three phases to the analytical process: (1) data classification; (2) results discussion and conclusion; and (3) reporting. Forty conventional questions (riddles) were asked of three informants to collect data for this study. Researchers in the Kenagarian Parit community in Koto Balingka District, West Pasaman Regency came to the following conclusions based on their findings: (1) the structure of traditional questions (riddles), including traditional questions (riddles) that do not conflict and traditional questions (riddles) that do. (2) Human-related, animal-related, plant-related, inanimate object-related, color-related, and riddle-related are the categories for conventional inquiries (riddles). (3) The social function of traditional questions (riddles) has two functions, namely testing someone's intelligence and as entertainment.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) Describe the types of code switching in the film Liam and Laila, (2) Describe the factors that cause code switching in the film Liam and Laila (3) Describe the types of code mixing in the film Liam and Laila, (4) Describe the factors that cause it to occur. code mixing in the film Liam and Laila. This research is included in the type of qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data for this research are dialogues in which there is code switching and code mixing. The data source for this research is the film script Liam and Laila (transcribed video) which contains dialogues from the characters. The data collection technique for this research is non-participant observation. Observations begin with (1) watching the film Liam and Laila, (2) record and transcribe the film recordings of Liam and Laila, (3) observe and analyze every dialogue that appears, (4) use the katat technique to collect every data obtained from the observations, (5) collect and record all the dialogue in which there are elements of code switching and code mixing to be explained further. The results of this research are. First, the type of code switching that occurs in the film Liam and Laila is divided into two, namely (1) external code switching which includes code switching from Indonesian to English and vice versa (2) internal code switching which includes code switching from Indonesian to English. Minangkabau and vice versa. Second, the types of code mixing are (1) outbound code mixing which includes code mixing in Indonesian and English (2) inward code mixing which includes code mixing in Indonesian and Minangkabau. The third factor that causes code switching includes (1) Speaker (2) Speech partner (3) Generating a sense of humor (4) Just being prestigious. The four factors that cause code mixing include (1) speaker factors (2) linguistic factors.
