Abstract

In recent years, the practice of establishing free economic zones (FEZs) has been actively developing in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of eliminating asymmetric conditions in regional economic development, attracting foreign and domestic investments, and modernizing local production. These zones are viewed as an important infrastructural and fiscal tool for addressing economic differentiation issues in the country, reducing unemployment, and increasing export volumes. Particularly, the tax incentives and preferential regimes being implemented within FEZs are creating favorable conditions for investors. However, the question of how these benefits impact long-term economic stability and interregional competitiveness has not yet been sufficiently researched. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the real economic efficiency of tax policies in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), their role in intensifying investment competition among regions, and their impact on local economic activity. The study evaluates the performance of existing free economic zones in Uzbekistan (Angren, Navoi, Jizzakh, and others) based on statistical data, conducts a comparative analysis with international experiences (China, UAE, Poland), and identifies strengths and weaknesses through SWOT analysis. As a result, the article proposes recommendations aimed at enhancing regional economic competition through SEZs, optimizing tax policies, and promoting strategic development. The significance of the article lies in its provision of theoretical and practical foundations for establishing a competitive fiscal environment and creating sustainable economic zones in Uzbekistan. It can be valuable not only for economists and policymakers but also for investors and representatives of regional administrations

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the emergence and influence of modern concepts that appeared at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries on the social, political, and intellectual life of the Turkestan region. Using a qualitative historical-analytical method, the research examines how modernist ideas—originating in the Muslim world, particularly from reformist movements in Egypt, Turkey, and India—were adapted by local intellectuals and Jadid reformers to promote social transformation. The study draws on historical documents, scholarly works, and reformist writings to assess how modernization affected education, law, political thought, and national consciousness among the peoples of Turkestan. The results show that the spread of reformist thought led to the rise of new educational systems, increased political awareness, and the development of socio-religious reforms that bridged traditional Islamic principles with modern rationalist ideas. The study concludes that these reformist concepts played a key role in shaping the intellectual and cultural revival of Turkestan, laying the foundation for national awakening and modern identity formation in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Abstract

This paper presents a retrospective trend-oriented analysis of the Republic of Uzbekistan's experience in developing and implementing national and regional development strategies. The relevance of the study is due to the dynamic structural, innovative and market transformations in the country associated with digitalisation, the introduction of new technologies and the transition to indicative methods of regulation. The aim is to provide a comprehensive analysis of economic development in the context of digital transformation, liberalisation and democratisation reforms, as well as to identify best practices for modernising industries to enhance global competitiveness. The paper examines the stages of the post-Soviet transition, key strategies (Action Strategy 2017–2021, Uzbekistan 2030, Innovation Development Strategy 2022–2026), territorial planning methodology, investment policy, and the development of light industry, renewable energy and digital technologies. Based on empirical data, macroeconomic shifts, regional disparities and the effectiveness of reforms are analysed. The conclusions emphasise the need for further improvement of institutional mechanisms, human capital and innovation drivers for sustainable growth.

Abstract

The development of sociolinguistic competence is an essential component of legal English instruction for students of legal studies. Future legal professionals must demonstrate not only accuracy in terminology but also the ability to adapt language use to specific institutional and social contexts. This paper examines the role of role-plays – particularly courtroom simulations and client counselling activities – in enhancing sociolinguistic competence within a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) framework. Theoretical foundations are drawn from models of communicative competence (Hymes, 1972; Canale & Swain, 1980) and sociolinguistic research in legal discourse (Gibbons, 2003; Tiersma, 1999). The integration of role-plays into the legal English classroom provides authentic opportunities for learners to practice register variation, politeness strategies, and pragmatic appropriateness. In addition, the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), including virtual moot courts and multimedia legal resources, extends the authenticity of classroom simulations. International research and empirical findings confirm that role-plays significantly improve students’ pragmatic awareness and professional readiness in multilingual legal environments (Bygate, 2015; Coyle, Hood, & Marsh, 2010).

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, cultural and linguistic exchange has grown at an unprecedented rate. These changes have also had an impact on the field of translation. At the heart of these changes are linguistic concepts such as descriptive translation, bilingualism, multilingualism, and code-switching (speaking alternatively between two or more languages). This article explores one of the above concepts – multilingualism – and its importance in translation. It discusses the significances of conveying the text correctly, taking into account both the reader and the content of the text, and preserving the originality of the text through new translation methods or directly conveying its meaning. The same time, the results of the survey on the importance of the multilingualism are also analysed and presented.

Abstract

This article explores the phenomenon of loanwords from a typological and functional perspective, analyzing the main types of lexical borrowing and the mechanisms of their adaptation in the recipient language. The study examines the linguistic, sociocultural, and pragmatic factors that motivate borrowing processes, with particular attention to phonetic, morphological, semantic, and orthographic integration. Drawing on examples from languages such as English, Uzbek, and Russian, the article identifies structural patterns of direct borrowings, calques, hybrid formations, and semantic loans. The article also highlights the role of loanwords in lexical enrichment, terminological development, and stylistic variation. It concludes that typological classification of loanwords and analysis of their adaptation strategies provide valuable insights into language contact phenomena and contribute to broader studies in sociolinguistics, comparative linguistics, and translation studies.

Abstract

This study examines the theoretical foundations and practical strategies for translating the works of the contemporary Uzbek writer Togay Murod into international languages. The research establishes a framework combining formal, dynamic, and functional equivalence with cultural mediation and stylistic sensitivity. It analyzes specific lexical and grammatical challenges inherent in Murod’s culturally specific prose. The application of the proposed framework demonstrates that balancing linguistic fidelity with cultural nuance allows for a more accurate representation of the author’s literary artistry. Effective translation of Murod’s work requires a deep understanding of Uzbek cultural specificity and stylistic distinctiveness. This balanced approach ensures that the translations are resonant with an international readership while preserving the original’s tone.

Abstract

This scientific article talks about the improvement of the fantasy genre. This field is little studied in our country, but as a structural and important element of the work of Le Guin, one of the modern writers, the main attention is paid to the myth-based improvement of different worlds and cultures. The issues discussed in Le Guin’s works relate to the fundamental human values that give special importance to his works in the modern world, which is experiencing a fundamental spiritual-civilizational crisis. The writer’s works have gone far beyond the borders of mass literature and culture. We are raising "fantasy" to the level of classic fiction with strong philosophical and aesthetic potential.
