Abstract

Background:  Teenagers who have reached puberty will start having periods. Adolescents with intellectual disabilities will also experience this condition like typical adolescents. Therefore, it is crucial to teach adolescents about menstrual hygiene through health education using snake and ladder media to prevent infection of the reproductive organs. Objective:  To determine how snake and ladder educational media affect adolescents with intellectual disabilities in the SLB Kabupaten Bantul knowledge of menstrual hygiene. Methods:  This study employed a pre-experimental design with One Group Pre Test- Post Test. A total of 30 respondents were sampled using a total sampling technique. Data was collected in June 2022 at SLB PGRI Trimulyo Bantul and SLB Ma'arif Bantul. A questionnaire on the level of knowledge of menstrual hygiene for adolescents with intellectual disabilities and educational media for snakes and ladders were used as research instruments. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to analyze the study's findings. Results:  The findings revealed that prior to receiving an education using snakes and ladders, participants had good knowledge (6.7%), sufficient knowledge (33.3%), and insufficient knowledge (60%). Following education with snakes and ladders, knowledge increased to good (46.7%), sufficient (50.0%), and insufficient (1.9%). The data was strengthened by the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test results, which yielded a value of p = 0.001. Conclusion:  Educational media on snakes and ladders affects knowledge of menstrual hygiene in adolescents with intellectual disabilities in SLB Kabupaten Bantul. It is hoped that adolescents can continue to increase their knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene by seeking information sources from schools and health workers.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world's major health problems. Based on data from the WHO Global TB Report 2024, the country with the second highest tuberculosis rate in the world is Indonesia. Latent Tuberculosis Infection (ILTB). ILTB is a new challenge in the tuberculosis disease control programme. WHO as a world health organisation also recognises that diagnosing and treating ILTB is an important strategy to accelerate the global reduction of tuberculosis to achieve tuberculosis elimination. Evaluation results through interview surveys illustrate that health promotion on latent tuberculosis is still not optimal due to lack of resources. The lack of information and low knowledge of latent tuberculosis infection in the community. This condition requires health promotion with effective media to achieve the target achievements in ILTB. Objective: To analyse the need for health promotion media on latent tuberculosis. Methods: This research is a research with a mix method approach. with a mixed method approach, namely a quantitative approach combined with a qualitative approach. The quantitative approach used a cross sectional design to obtain information on health promotion that has been implemented,  The sampling method used total sampling, there were 25 MSI cadres, data collection using questionnaires. Results: The results of the study include quantitative results supported by qualitative results. The quantitative results show that most cadres only occasionally use health promotion media as much as 72%, with the types that have been varied, the most are posters as much as 17%, print media types 53%, content about tuberculosis prevention 31%, with individual health promotion methods such as home visits as much as 84%. while the need for health promotion media on latent tuberculosis was studied using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and in-depth interview guides. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and content analysis.  The results of the theme found that the media for promoting latent TB health was still minimal and information in the media required complete information. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is the need for printed latent TB media with complete content so that media can be created that is appropriate to the needs of the community.

The inclusion criteria were ≥ 55 years old and they had one or more depression symptoms; the exclusion criteria were dementia and diabetic ulcer. The depression instrument was the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15). Statistical analysis was performed with Wilcoxon Test and Mann-Whitney Test. While during the posttest,  in the intervention group had an mean ± SD (2.87 ± 1.279) and the control group dropped into (2.60 ± 1.354). Based on the Wilcoxon test, it had p: 0.000 (p<0.05), indicated the therapy was effective for decreasing depression on elder adults. Conclusion: The aromatic footbath hydrotherapy therapy was effective for decreasing depression on the elderlys’ in Gamping. For further research, the researcher should control constantly the water’s temperature (390C ).

Abstract

Background: Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that around 235 million people suffer from bronchial asthma. Data from the Ministry of Health in 2020 showed that the number of people with bronchial asthma in Indonesia was more than 12 million. Nursing problems that occur in bronchial asthma are ineffective breathing patterns. If ineffective breathing patterns are not addressed properly, the risk of bronchial asthma attacks will increase, the breathing process will become heavier and more difficult, and will even endanger life. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can applied to patients with bronchial asthma through the buteyko technique. Purpose: This study was to determine the effectiveness of the Buteyko breathing technique in improving ineffective breathing patterns in patients with bronchial asthma. Methods: This case study used 2 respondents with bronchial asthma who experience nursing problems of ineffective breathing patterns aged 43 years and 58 years the method used in this study is a case study design with a qualitative research approach aimed at explaining a phenomenon. The inclusion criteria are respondents who suffer from bronchial asthma, show signs and symptoms of an ineffective breathing pattern, are willing to participate as respondents, and are in the young to middle adult age range (20–59 years). The instruments or tools used in this study to collect data include oximeter, watch/stopwatch, chair, and stethoscope. Results: The results of the analysis showed that after the Buteyko breathing technique was carried out for 3 consecutive days, (dyspnea/shortness of breath, use of breathing aids, prolongation of the expiratory phase, orthopnea/difficulty breathing when lying down, nasal flaring breathing) decreased and the respiratory rate improved. Conclusion: Two respondents initially experienced shortness of breath. After carrying out the Buteyko breathing technique for 3 consecutive days, the breathing pattern improved so that it can be concluded that the Buteyko breathing technique is effective in improving breathing patterns in patients with bronchial asthma.

Abstract

Background: Stroke prevalence in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is ranked second highest in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 14.6%. The highest prevalence is in the city of Yogyakarta at 1.50%. In cases of stroke, family caregiver s must accompany the patient for up to 24 hours to meet all the patient's needs. The role of family caregiver s aims to restore the quality of life of stroke patients and improve the therapeutic efforts of patients. Objective: The research aims to determine the relationship between family caregiver burden and behavior in caring for stroke patients at the Yogyakarta City Hospital. Methods: The research is quantitative with a descriptive correlative design and a crosssectional approach. The number of samples used was 39 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection used the Zarit Burden Interview Questionnaire and the Family caregiver Behavior Questionnaire, which have been validated and are reliable. Data analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate analysis. Results:  The results showed that family caregiver burden is related to behavior in caring for stroke patients (r=-0.335; p=0.037). The distribution of family caregiver burdens includes no burden 43.6%, light burden 51.3%, moderate burden 5.1%, while family caregiver behavior in the category of less 5.1%, family caregiver behavior in the category of sufficient 69.2%, and family caregiver behavior in the category of good 25.6%. Conclusion: Good family caregiver behavior in caring for stroke patients has a positive impact on the patients themselves. For family caregiver s who are detected to have a high burden, it is hoped that they can consult on how to overcome it so that the quality of life of stroke patients and family caregiver s can improve.
