Abstract

Chromolaena odorata popularly called devil weed (in dependent leaves) is a subtropical flowering shrub in the family of Asteraceae that has been used for the herbal treatment of wounds, burns, skin infections, and relieving painful stomach ulcers. There are some scientific literature reporting its antimicrobial, wound healing, hemostatic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, platelet protective, anticancer, hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, insecticidal, and anti-anemic properties. This study investigated the phytochemical components and the anti-ulcer (gastric pump inhibition) properties of the ethanolic extract of the plant using GC-MS and in silico molecular docking. The GC-MS results from this study detected thirty (30) retentions with fifty-one (51) library/ID-suggested compounds. The docking of the detected compounds against gastric proton pump for the treatment of ulcer revealed that among the ligands that were docked with the enzyme (H+/K+-ATPase); (3-(Azepan-1-yl)-1,2-benzothiazole 1,1-dioxide) had better binding energy value (high binding energy value) (-8.4kcal/mol) compared to the standard anti-ulcer drug (omeprazole; −8.0 kcal/mol). The strong bonding of 3-(Azepan-1-yl)-1,2 benzothiazole 1,1-dioxide to the receptor suggests that the compound may possess better gastric proton pump inhibitory potential than omeprazole. This result may also validate the traditional use of the plant for gastric ulcer-relieving activity.

Abstract

This paper explores the critical theme of integrating emerging technologies into teacher education to enhance global competitiveness. In the dynamic landscape of education, the demand for innovative teaching approaches has never been more pronounced. This paper provides a comprehensive review of current literature, presenting a theoretical framework that underpins the integration of emerging technologies in teacher education. Methodologies employed in relevant studies are discussed, and a collection of case studies and examples illustrate successful implementations of technology in teacher education programs across diverse global contexts. Challenges associated with the integration of emerging technologies are examined, and practical solutions are proposed. The impact of these technological innovations on global competitiveness in education is analyzed, emphasizing their contribution to the development of essential 21st-century skills. The role of ongoing professional development for educators in effectively incorporating emerging technologies into their teaching practices is explored, along with insights into effective training programs and resources. The paper concludes with a forward-looking discussion on potential future trends and developments in the integration of emerging technologies in teacher education. The importance of continued research and innovation in shaping the future of education on a global scale is emphasized. Through this exploration, the paper seeks to contribute valuable insights to the field and encourage further inquiry into the transformative potential of emerging technologies in teacher education.

Abstract

Abstract The study was to find out the causes of low academic performance of students in Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu in Kebbi State. The population of the study consisted of 400 students of Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu out of which 120 were randomly selected. A structural questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed using frequency counts and mean scores for all the research questions. The findings revealed that all variable factors are responsible for the low academic performance of students except the involvement of parents in the Parents Teachers Association (P.T.A). Based on these findings, the following recommendations are made: Teachers should employ various teaching strategies as well and the teaching must be from simple to complex for a better understanding of their students, Teachers should develop positive attitudes towards the students under his/her control to ensure effective learning and better performance of their students and Parents should give more attention and proper monitoring to their children education.

Abstract

Noise pollution is an unseen threat. It cannot be seen, although it is present both on land and beneath the water. Any undesired or irritating sound that impacts the health and well-being of humans and other organisms is referred to as noise pollution. It is harmful to human health. According to WHO, more than 70 decibels of sound will be harmful to health. The average noise level in Kathmandu was 66.8 decibels (A), with high-traffic zones producing the most noise, followed by commercial, low-traffic, and residential zones. The main objective of this review paper is to identify the effect of noise pollution on human health. It is a review article. There are different kinds of effects explored in the previous studies such as hearing loss, sleep disruption, cardiovascular disease, social handicaps, reduced productivity, bad social behavior, irritation reactions, absenteeism, and accidents. Noise pollution is a significant problem in Nepal, particularly in Kathmandu. The studies suggest that the enforcement of noise standards and No Horn Regulation can be effective in reducing noise pollution. However, more efforts are needed to monitor and enforce these regulations. Noise pollution can cause a variety of health problems, and it is essential to take measures to reduce it to protect public health.

Abstract

The collection of zakat (divine tax) is one of the main responsibilities of the zakat amil (collector). In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Pekanbaru City Regency BAZ has been successful. Therefore, this research aims to determine the growth of zakat collection in the Pekan baru City Regency BAZ during the 2010-2015 period in terms of nominal value, sources and efforts made in zakat collection. To achieve this aim, this research uses a case study. The findings show that the amount of zakat collected during the period increased significantly to a total of more than IDR 34.44 billion. This increase is far above the average that can be achieved globally. In terms of zakat sources, the sources are expanded from professional zakat to other sources, such as trade and services zakat. To support the success of zakat collection, Pekanbaru City Regency BAZ continues to strive to improve the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ), form a marketing team, distribute marketing tools, and carry out massive zakat outreach.
