Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of erosion in order to obtain a reference for soil conservation in various types of land use in Wolasi District. This research was conducted in October-December 2022 in Wolasi District. This study uses a survey method of erosion prediction analysis carried out by the USLE method. The results showed that the highest erosion rate was found in the use of Shrubland land, which was 611,39 tons/ha/year, while the lowest erosion was found in the use of Natural Forest land, which was 0,129 tons/ha/year. The highest allowable erosion was found in the land use of pepper plantations, which was 32.44 tonnes/ha/year, while the lowest allowable erosion was found in the use of cashew plantations, namely 25.74. The highest erosion hazard index was found in shrub land use, namely 21,05 tonnes/ ha/year, while the lowest erosion hazard index was found in the use of natural forest land, which was 0,0047 tons/ha/year. The soil conservation technique used in Wolasi District is a mechanical conservation technique with treatment like traditional terraces, while the vegetative conservation technique is with treatment like ripening terraces using plant remains. Vegetative and mechanical soil conservation techniques are applied to various types of land use in Wolasi District, such as mixed gardens, pepper gardens, cashew plantations, shrubs, natural forests, and paddy fields. Keywords : Erosion, USLE method, conservation techniques, land use

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of feeding bokashi cow manure on the chemical properties of Alfisols soil and the yield of Muna's local corn (Zea Mays L.). This study was conducted at the Land Experiment Garden II Faculty of Agriculture of Halu Oleo University, and the sampling of Alfisol soil was conducted in Puwatu Village, from March to June 2022. This study used a Randomized Group Design (RGD) method with 4 bokashi cow manure treatments: B0 = without bokashi cow manure (control), B1 = 200 g polybag-1, B2 = 400 g polybag-1, B3 = 600 g polybag-1. The research results show that the treatment of bokashi manure improves the chemical properties of the soil. Treatment of B3 gives the highest values for organic-C (0.34%), total-N (0.11%), available-P (25.66 ppm), KTK (53.19 me/100g) except for available-K and affects plant height, stem diameter, fruit weight and seed count. Abstract

Agricultural biotechnology is a new tool for improving plants and animals. This technology uses cell DNA combination/synthesis technology to improve plants and animals or create new products. Biotechnology plant products approved for food have the following properties: 1) resistance to pests and diseases, 2) resistance to herbicides, 3) changes in diet, and 4) increased resource-conserving concentrations. Rapid population growth is currently a major challenge for the food industry. After rice and corn, soybeans are an important commodity. This species is considered an important protein source and raw material for various food and feed industries. The need for some products cannot be fulfilled domestically, so they have to be imported. To overcome these problems, technological readiness (creation of tolerant superior varieties and use of biological fertilizers) and the promotion of cultivation technology to increase productivity towards self-sufficiency are very reasonable. The purpose of compiling this journal is to provide information about improving the quality of crop production through the use of biotechnology in overcoming food scarcity. Plants that are almost experiencing scarcity are carried out by efforts to preserve germplasm. Biotechnology is an alternative genetic engineering technology that is able to overcome the problem of food crisis by increasing crop productivity. Keywords: Biotechnology, Soybean, Food, Superior varieties

Abstract

Soil sampling was carried out at PT. Wijaya Inti Nusantara, Torobulu Village, Laeya District, South Konawe Regency. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 7 treatments, namely: B0D0 = without amelioran, B1DI = ameliorant of rice husk 50g/polybag, B1D2 = ameliorant of rise husk 100g/polybag, B1D3 = ameliorant of rice husk 150g/polybag, B2D1 = ameliorant of sawdust 50 g/polybag, B2D2 = ameliorant of sawdust 100 g/polybag , and B2D3 = Amelioran sawdust 150 g/polybag, each treatment was repeated 3 times and 21 research units were obtained. The results of the study on the effect of ameliorants on the growth of patchouli plants in ex-mining soil showed that the highest treatment was C-organic B2D3 3.38% (T), water content B1D3 34.5% week 4, and aggregate stability B1D1, B1D2 , B1D3 (3) Total Slanging. The effect of using ameliorant on the growth of patchouli plants in ex-mining soil has an effect on plant height and biomass variables compared to no treatment. The best results were found in the B2D3 treatment. Keywords: ameliorant, patchouli, rice husk, sawdust

Abstract

The research aims to determine the physical quality of soil in oil palm plantation areas at different ages in Tetewatu Village and the direction of soil physical quality management to increase the productivity of oil palm plantations in Tetewatu Village. The research was conducted in Tetewatu Village, Wiwirano Sub-district from October 2022 to January 2023. The research method used a survey method based on the age of oil palm. Determination of sampling is done by adjusting the age of the plant with the conditions in the field, determining the sample point at each age of oil palm plants (5 years, 10 years and 15 years). Whole soil samples were taken using ring samples at a depth of 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm and then analyzed in the laboratory. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis (Anova) and differences in treatment means were tested using the BNJ test. The results showed that different plant ages affected the content weight at a depth of 0-30 cm and porosity at a depth of 0-30 cm (real). But no significant effect on soil moisture content (KAT). And the direction of soil management that needs to be recommended to improve soil quality in oil palm plants in Tetewatu Village, Wiwirano District, North Konawe Regency is to provide good nutrients for oil palm plants, one of which is through the application of organic materials. Keywords : analysis of variance, soil quality, soil physical properties
