Abstract

This research was motivated by the author's interest in the problems of students in the RMIK 1A study program regarding the use of sentences in WhatsApp chats between lecturers and students. As communication develops in the digital era, the use of social media has become a common need for everyone, one of which is WhatsApp as a semi-formal communication tool. WhatsApp not only makes it easier to exchange information, but also influences the way messages are delivered and language is used. Using WhatsApp in academic communications offers various advantages, including ease of access, speed of response, and flexibility in communication. The language used must pay attention to the rules of good grammar, spelling and politeness. Analyzing language use errors can help in developing students' language skills. This can improve communication skills in Indonesian and correct mistakes that often occur. From an ethical perspective, this research can help in evaluating digital interactions in compliance with applicable academic norms. This can contribute to increasing digital literacy for both lecturers and students, helping to optimize the use of technology in academic interactions.

Abstract

Errors in using Indonesian in notification letters often result in confusion and misunderstanding among recipients. Apart from that, spelling errors and inappropriate use of terms were also found, which could damage the sender's credibility. This research aims to describe, correct and analyze forms of language errors in the form of errors in the use of Indonesian contained in notification letters issued by the Poltekkes Kemenkes Tasikmalaya. Types of errors are studied through the use of Indonesian spelling based on the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling and Standard Vocabulary (KBBI). Various errors were found, (1) use of capital letters, (2) non-standard word writing, (3) incorrect acronyms, (4) punctuation errors, (5) and typing errors. The impact of this error can interfere with understanding the message and image of the institution. Therefore, it is important to improve understanding and skills in the Indonesian language among official letter writers.

Abstract

Language is a sound produced by the human vocal tract, not a sound produced by other organs. Using good and correct Indonesian can be interpreted as using a variety of languages that are in harmony with the target and which in addition follows the correct language rules (Alwi, et al., 2010). Good Indonesian is language that is used according to the situation and conditions that include 4 aspects, namely place, time, language actors and purpose. Correct Indonesian is language that is used according to language rules consisting of spelling rules, phonological rules, morphological rules, syntactic rules, semantic rules, paragraph rules, discourse rules, and logical rules. The importance of using Indonesian in accordance with applicable grammar and spelling rules not only affects the effectiveness of communication, but also the formation of national identity and national culture. Mistakes in the use of language can interfere with understanding, damage credibility, and reduce the quality of information delivery. The use of Indonesian is very important in writing letters because it ensures that the message to be conveyed can be clearly understood by the recipient of the letter. The use of standard Indonesian ensures uniformity in communication. Using Indonesian in notification letters is a form of respect for the national language and national identity.
